Chapter 9: Vicious Beast

Chapter 9: Vicious Beast

“S-Sylfern!?”

Viola lets out a scream.

“Grahhh!!!!”

The beast howled.

“That… won’t do you… any good…”

I muttered.

I was holding the beast’s fangs at bay with my sword.

I was struggling against it as it pushed me to the ground.

“Get off me!”

I kicked at the thing and sent it flying.

I immediately got back up.

“Are you ok?”

Viola came running to ask me.

“I’m fine… Go hide. I’ll take care of him.”

I raise my sword and glared at my foe.

Upon taking a close look at it, I was surprised.

The thing was crouching on the ground. It had black spiky hair on his back that reached from the top of his head to his back. It had black evil eyes. It was wearing torn clothing although its shirt has already been destroyed. It’s pale skin made it seem like a corpse.

Gazing at that appearance, I could judge it as a veritable monster.

A savage beast.

“I was hoping for no more battles for now, but that was too optimistic. Prepare yourself, beast.”

I won’t be able to pass without killing it. No choice but to go all out.

Since it’s a beast, it considered me its prey.

And as such, I have no choice but to hunt it down.

Preparing my stance, I glared at the beast once more.

“Come!”

Taking my shout as a taunt, it charged at me and jumped!

Using the tactic I once used to kill some undead before, I dodged to the side and spun around. I held my blade close at aimed to slice him. Hoping for a quick battle.

I was naïve.

It spun around midflight and blocked my strike.

My stance was slightly disturbed.

It landed roughly on the ground.

It got back up and like a dog, it howled and shook its body.

It snarled and jumped again.

I ducked and thrust my sword.

I stabbed its leg.

It crashed into the ground and let out a small howl.

I managed to render its leg immobile.

Is it alive?

Fresh blood flowed.

It might have been mutated by this curse.

“So you’re cursed… How unfortunate. You must die here then.”

This time around, I dashed forward.

I raised my sword overhead and brought it down.

The beast snarled and tried to dodge but it’s leg got in the way.

I simply changed trajectory and cut the beast in half.

It let out a dying howl then fell apart.

Fresh blood flowed once more.

Staining the ground with a dark color.

Now that I noticed it, it’s blood was black.

“It’s over.”

I offered it a silent prayer.

This must be a mutated beast…

If so, then there might be more ferocious creatures here…

I must be vigilant as I head inside the armory…

I gazed up and saw a full moon. Beautifully illuminating upon the fallen beast.
