Chapter 44 Lumbering
My knights were disadvantaged against this type of creatures.
They were made of pure metal. Therefore, they’re quite heavy and unable to make agile movements.
I’m capable of it since I’m equipped with mostly leather armor. Fitting for mercenaries and adventurers.
Knights wore armor which restricted agile movements but improved their defense. The one weakness they possess is that there’s not much armor covering the joints.
Mercenaries and adventurers wore leather armor. They don’t provide as much defense as the knight’s armor do but they allow agile movements.
I’m wearing the same type of armor preferred by mercenaries and my weapons allow for agile movements.
Llednar is wearing some leather clothing so he’s quite fast.
Clovis is also lightly armed.
All three of us are capable of agile movements with the exception of my knights.
My knights are quite formidable.
They lack flesh. Their metal armor is actually their bodies. So the common weakness of knights being their joints don’t apply to them.
This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.
If the whips striking them were light, they could charge ahead and cut down those trees…
However, that won’t work.
Those whips strike with enough force that sent my knights flying.
Right now, they can’t possible approach.
Furthermore, those whips can tie them up so they can’t act.
They can’t possible muster up enough force to cut them down while in the air.
In fact, some of them are in the air right now while the others are struggling to approach while being mercilessly struck down again and again by those whips.
“Tch… My knights can’t approach! Clovis, try to burn them!”
Clovis nodded and began firing fireballs towards those trees.
“Fire, burn bright and blaze!”
Clovis cried as he fired several fireballs.
“Tch!”
Several whips then stopped meddling with my knights and repelled the fireballs.
Their fast attacks blew away the flames.
Ugh… We don’t have a choice…
“Clovis, Llednar, long ranged attacks are useless! We need to attack up close!”
They both nodded and without a word, began to dash towards the trees.
I readied my sword and began to move.
I must act in this crisis…
After some time, the battle ended and the trees were reduced to firewood by Clovis.
I couldn’t get very far.
Though my knights held back majority of the vines, there were still enough to pose trouble for us.
Llednar was the first to get close enough but failed to do any significant damage with his knife.
I never did get close…
When Clovis approached, he burned the trees.
That’s how it ended.
“That was truly dangerous…”
“Indeed.”
They both nodded.
We were ill-suited against that kind of opponent.
It’s best that we leave soon.
I gazed beyond us and saw the gate leading us outside.
“Still, we’re fortunate to encounter only a few of them. There should be more in here, but fortunately the gate is beyond us. Let’s leave.”
They both nodded once more and without a word hurriedly approached the gate.
I went up front and opened the gates.
Together, we left.
