Chapter 47 Heart of Malice

Chapter 47 Heart of Malice

Finished with our preparations, we headed out to open the door.

I was sure the heart was located beyond this door.

I could feel it.

The hatred binding all souls to this mansion.

I glanced at my companions and they both nodded.

This shall be our last time fighting together as well as our last time wandering the living world.

We shall fight giving it our utmost.

I opened the door.

The door opened silently without a sound.

Peering through the doorway was nothing but darkness.

We couldn’t see through the thick miasma guarding the door.

“How foggy. No choice but to go in.”

Llednar said.

“Very well, I’ll go first.”

I said and stepped out.

My body was absorbed in the black fog.

As I walked out, I saw nothing but thick miasma.

I heard the footsteps of my companions following me closely.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

Nothing left should be said between us.

I soon got out of the fog.

Peering through, I saw numerous corpses showing various stages of decay lined up in the walls trapped in glass tubes.

In the center of the room, there was a larger tube showing a large beating black heart.

The miasma was concentrated and flowing with the heart at its center.

“So that’s the heart?”

“Then let us make it beat no more.”

The two got out of fog soon enough and remarked upon seeing the heart.

I took a look around.

There should be something guarding the heart.

We should approach carefully.

The guardian should be hiding itself somewhere.

“I’ll send some knights over first.”

I activated my ability and summoned several knights. I immediately gave an order.

“Attack!”

As if releasing fierce howls, the knights who held no flesh nor bone charged off with their blades held high.

“Oh, I see. Testing the waters eh.”

Llednar spoke as he was evaluating my action.

Still, his arms were on the hilts of his daggers.

Ready to drawn at any moment.

Clovis was smiling as his a fireball was burning atop his hand simply hovering.

The knights were soon nearing the heart.

“Hm?”

I gazed at the heart as it soon began to act.

Is it summoning its guardian?

The miasma began to act up and began being absorbed by the heart.

The knights weren’t able to get near due to the intensity of the miasma.

Soon, I see flesh form covering the heart.

“It’s forming a body of its own?”

If it’s defending itself, that means that there is no guardian.

“The most correct decision is to pierce through its flesh and pierce through the heart. I believe that its flesh would regenerate.”

I remarked as I observed our foe silently.

I believe that the flesh would regenerate infinitely unless we destroy the heart itself.

“Hm? Is that…?”

I observed new changes regarding our foe.

Soon, more flesh began to rapidly regenerate at the speed the eye can see.

It began to form a large body, first forming a torso, legs, arms and a head.

The head had red ominous eyes and black hair began to grow.

It’s mouth had already formed.

Soon, a large body twice the size of a man appeared.

Grinning savagely at us, it let loose a fierce bloodthirsty roar.

“Oh dear… No wonder there’s no guardian. The heart is guarding itself by forming a body of it’s own.”

Clovis spoke.

“Indeed… Well, it’ll be a boring ending if it finished so easily. Let’s smash that thing apart!”

Llednar laughed.

“Well, then, my fellow companions, this is our last battle. Let’s make it grand!”

I smiled.

It’s time to end this tragedy.

Once and for all.
