Chapter 48 The Final Struggle
“Well then, I’ll go first.”
I said.
Responding to my will, my fleshless knights formed ranks before me like a wall.
“Attack.”
I gave the order.
Immediately, the knights charged forth with their blades raised high.
The Guardian let loose another roar.
It raised its hand.
A dark portal rose up below that hand.
From below, a grisly axe made of human bones appeared.
It appeared very menacing and it fit perfectly in its hand.
The Guardian growled and charged towards my knights.
It sliced them apart and sent the rest flying.
Only a few of my knights were unharmed.
My knights lack flesh.
They feel no fatigue nor pain.
The sight of their comrades annihilated that would left humans trembling in despair or flee in terror would never cause them to hesitate even for a moment.
And so, they silently attacked the Guardian with their swords without losing a beat.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
The Guardian shielded itself from their attacks with its arms.
The blades merely cut too shallow.
Blood flowed but I could it that only the tip managed to pierce through.
“How tough.”
I remarked as I observed it.
“Yep, looks like it’ll be a bit rough.”
Llednar also remarked.
“To win, I believe we should destroy the heart alone. Even if we succeed in cutting off its limbs, they’ll simply regenerate.”
The Guardian roared.
Angered like a wounded beast.
It raised its other arm and smashed the knight that harmed it.
It then raised its other arm to slash other knights in two.
I summoned more knights by my side and gave another order.
“Let’s try this. Surround it!”
They immediately moved into position.
The Guardian jumped back.
“Hmph, looks like its pretty wary of us…”
It appears that it possess some level of intelligence.
This may seem harder than I thought.
If it only possesses brute strength, then it’s nothing but a mere beast. But with intelligence? This would definitely be threefold more difficult than before.
“Clovis, can you try casting spells to see which is more effective?”
We need to try more tactics.
“Of course.”
Clovis went up to the front.
“Don’t let him near Clovis.”
I ordered my knights.
“Hahaha… Burn, vile creature!”
Clovis produced fireballs within his hands and three them. Just like balls in a circus.
They exploded and the Guardian roared in rage.
The flames and explosions burned its skin but only dealt some damage at its surface. It had little effect other than enraging it.
It turned its crimson eyes brimming with rage and charged forth.
Ignoring my knights as it trampled them underfoot.
I believe that we’ll be able to deal with it more easily now.
“Oh boy… It got mad, eh? It’s my turn to act.”
Llednar laughed and produced black balls from his robe.
Explosives?
He must have found some materials in that room…
“Have a taste of this kiddo!!!”
Llednar threw them at the charging beast.
*BOOOOM*
A massive explosion rang out.
Most likely as a result of chaining several explosions together magnifying the damage it dealt.
It knocked the beast back a bit and destroyed its left arm.
However, we can see it regenerating rapidly.
“Llednar, Clovis, time your attacks to explode near the heart. If it destroys the heart, it’ll be over with soon. If not, it’ll at least clear the way. Llednar, you act first. Clovis, prepare to fire soon. Your attacks would deal far harsher damage if you strike once it’s armor-like skin is removed.”
I formulated a strategy immediately.
I have another technique within my attacks capable of destroying the heart but I need some time. I believe
