Elanor stood on top of the peek of the spire, along with the strongest of her people they all stood there with solemn eyes watching the well familiar sight in Avalesk.
Hordes of humans and other races, bombarded the final defensive barrier prepared by their ancestors. Try to fight? What use that would be.
Similar to players, civilizations enjoyed endless resurrection in Avalesk. Unless the Essence Core of the town/kingdom/empire they're bound to is shattered, they would only have to wait for a day, then they'll sooner or later be revived, as the system willed it so.
From there, the cruel disregard of life came root. Everyday, wars came and go as if they were a natural part of the seasons, civilizations uprooted, only to be replaced by new ones.
Elanor closed her eyes as she the stories that were passed down to her, and what led everything fall up to here:
'Life is much more united in the higher floors they said.'
'Climb the Serahaim did so.'
'Higher, higher, The Serahaim traveled higher towards the upper floors of Avalesk.'
'Years passed, centuries continued, The Serahaim continued hoarding knowledge, extended their lifespans as they traveled higher.'
'Leaving families, libraries of various knowledge for descendants and friends behind.'

'Time continued but sooner or later they fell.'
'Beyond the 25th world, only monsters roamed. Sentient beings only those the Serahaim's strongest could hope to widstand became like cattle for slaughter.'
'Envious of their timelessness, civilizations and empires started hunting the immortal couple. The ones who gave life to us Serahaim fell.'
'How could such weak beings enjoy both endless reincarnation and timeless lifetimes. Why not them?'
'How could elves who are not tied to the great world tree enjoy such gifts? What blasphemy.'
'Such power if not shared with the world must...'
'...'
'Reasons of righteous selfishness rained and eventually the immortal couple met their end.'
'Not long after that, all the libraries that the Serahaim accumulated for their children in various floors fell one by one.'
'Even the very first library of the very first floor was now gone.'
'And yet, as the overlords of the higher floors left us, then now this.'
...
.
Elanor gritted her teeth. Not even 20, Elanor knew that her generation is likely to be the last of the tri-elves to ever walk Avalesk.
Under siege, and without the gift of immortality, she knew that her last moments were about to pass.
There was simply no way out of it. Ever since the immortal couple fell, the Serahaim had no other person that could create Existence Cores, no one was qualified nor had the knowledge to create their own.
Of course, Existence Cores were a lot more common and even for sale beyond the 25th floor, but what good would that do them? Even if they weren't being sieged right now, they weren't strong enough to even transcend the next floor much more the 25ths and above.
They don't ever dare trust other civilizations. In fact, that was what led them to this very situation.
'Timelessness is part of our identity. Idiots...' Tears fell down Elanor as she muttered. Her consciousness fading, about to fall due to exhaustion when a bird weightlessly landed on her shoulder.
Peck Peck
Elanor's eyes widened.
