Akata said in a voice filled with disbelief, “You’re telling me that I died and was brought back to life?” He just couldn’t believe it at all.
“That’s what I said didn’t I? It happened so fast that I could barely notice it. It was weird. Not to mention that red light that is keeping me trapped in your dantion region. Humph. You really are a weird case with many mysteries, just who are you?” Noluck was astonished yet also was cautious. But, even if he was more cautious than he was now, he wouldn’t be able to do anything since he was trapped within Akata’s dantion region.
Akata was silent for a moment before he said, “Can you tell me all that happened to me?”
“All that happened to you? Can you even do that? Just what went on when you were asleep for a whole four days?! Were you even asleep at all? Humph. But I’ll tell you what I know.” Noluck was very curious about the matter as it involved him. That red light made him so scared because it even had the power to kill him, yet it decided to just trap him instead.
“When you first went to sleep a bizarre red light suddenly started to emit and glow from your body. It all sprang up at the same time so I couldn’t tell where it came from. I was going to go try and inspect your body but then that red light came flashing by in my direction and stopped me in my tracks. I wasn’t able to move anywhere and eventually that red light pushed me back into your dantion region and put a seal on me that made it impossible for me to leave.
After that days passed by with no change just that red light still covering your body. I paid as much attention to it as I could but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Then today in the slightest bit of time, you died and were brought back to life in a flash. Like I said, it happened so fast even I was barely able to notice it. Then a few moments after that you woke up. But before you did that red light vanished without a trace. But I am still unable to move anywhere from this place.
Now that I say it aloud, it sounds as if I’m going crazy. No matter what special abilities a First Rank cultivator has, it shouldn’t be powerful enough to influence me in anyway, but you’re able to effortlessly keep me sealed up in this place.” Fear still lingered in his voice but it was undetectable by Akata.
‘I’m not even going to mention how it wiped away the magic I was going to use to possess you when you got older. I can’t even summon it anymore, hell, I can’t summon any kind of possessing magic or any magic that can harm you. It’s like that red light completely stopped me from doing anything to harm you. But, it hasn’t stopped me from helping you.’ Noluck was most afraid of the red light completely controlling his actions in the future. If it was able to seal him up and stop him from causing harm what else was it capable of? This type of control was unheard of when it involved a being as powerful as him, unless the being who cast it was of an even higher level than himself.
‘I can’t do anything to harm this brat, but that red light let’s me help him. So needless to say, it will only permit me to help him grow and not do anything to hurt him. I’m scared to say that If I only had ill feelings for him I might not even be here right now.’ This thought truly brought fear to Noluck’s mind. ‘I really do have terrible luck, don’t I, Sunwater?’
Akata sat there thinking about what Noluck had told him. The thing that most caught his attention wasn’t the part about him suddenly dying and being brought back to life, but the mysterious red light. ‘Could it be that that red light came from the soul rune? Noluck is supposed to be extremely powerful but it was able to seal him here. Just how powerful is that soul rune?
And also before I left that voice said that I will be given two lives next time I go there. Does that mean I was given one life before? If so, then I could have died there, but when? Maybe when I was really old.’ Akata went into deep thought.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
Soon, however, he cast it aside. ‘I’ll only know once I step onto the path of cultivation… But aren’t I already on that path? Aw man! What is the path to cultivation if I’m not already on it?’ Akata shook his head and then stood up.
“I’ve been cooped up in this cave for a while now. I should go and see how things are coming along outside. I should have a little less than a month left here.” Akata said while strolling toward the cave exit.
“Wait! Are you not going to tell me what you experienced when you went to sleep? It had to be somehting right?” Noluck sounded anxious to know the answer. If he could get the answer then maybe he had a way to break free from that seal that was placed on him.
“Oh yeah. When I went to sleep all I saw was a red light surrounding my body. I tried to inspect it but I couldn’t. Then a voice came and and said step onto the path of cultivation and I’ll return and before I knew it I woke up.” Akata said lightly. He wasn’t going to tell Noluck exactly what he had experienced because with his increased soul sensitivity, he felt as if Noluck was hiding something himself.
“Humph. Not going to tell me eh? Fine, I’ll figure it out on my own then.” Noluck became silent after that and didn’t speak at all. Of course at his level, his soul sensitivity was strong too and he could cearly tell that Akata was hiding something as well.
Akata paid him no more attenion and let him be. If he could figure out what happened then he would’ve been done so. Akata continued to walk to the exit and waved his hand where his scythe was and blasted a hole in the rock in front of him. Soon sunlight poured in through the hole and shone on Akata’s face. He took in a deep breath of the fresh air and stepped through the hole.
As soon as he stepped out, Akata cast his nature sense out further and inspected the whole scene in front of him. He was welcomed with nature and a fresh sea breeze. But what astounded him was the sight of a beast. The beast walked on four legs and had the body of a bear, blue fur, and white claws. It’s tail was extremely thin and slithered around like a snake. It was a Lunar Bear right in front of him.
The Lunar Bear looked young and when it saw Akata it let out a wail, calling for its mother. Soon a cry resounded close by and a much larger Lunar Bear came rushing over toward Akata. This Lunar Bear roared and caused a blue light to cover its claw. The gravity on its claw increased as it swiped toward Akata. The addition of extra gravity on the claw made its strike much more ferocious.
Akata stood there sensing as the Lunar Bear approached him with full speed. Once in range it swept its claw out toward his throat in an attempt to kill him. Akata remembered his time in a forest with Peizhi Xiuying fighting Lunar Bears and he couldn’t help but chuckle. Back then it had been an easy matter to kill them, now that he had grown stonger how could they possibly pose a threat now?
Before, Akata had retracted all of his cultivation base but now, he let it loose. A bit of his 7th Grade Mortal Rank cultivation base flooded out and crashed into the rushing Lunar Bear causing it to stumble. The Lunar Bear was only at the 3rd Grade of the Docile Rank so it didn’t cause Akata to become flustered at all.
It was too close however, and even as it stumbled it let out a loud roar calling for more beasts, its claw still came closer to Akata. Fear was seen all over its face as it came into contact with Akata’s cultivation base power. If it had known his cultivation base beforehand it would have just rushed to its cub, picking it up, and ran off. Not daring to even look Akata in the eye. But alas, Akata held it back, now its claw was heading straight towards this deadly opponent. It was scared that Akata would see this as an attempt to harm him and that Akata would retaliate.
Akata on the other hand just watched as the claw drew closer to him. He raised his scythe up in a smooth manner in the path of the claw. Whoosh! The claw touched the handle of the scythe and stopped in place, no longer moving. Akata didn’t even move his hand back as the claw collided with his scythe. To him, it felt as if wind had just hit his scythe.
Before Akata had time to pull his scythe back multiple roars landed in his ears. Most of these roars and cries were different from each other. Some were deep and brooding while others sounded more like screeches than actual roars. There had to be at least tens of different roars coming into Akata’s ears at the moment.
Akata’s eye twitched at the sound of the roars and cries and then his nature sense picked up on the bodies of multiple beasts closing in on him. A few he recognised but most he had never seen or heard about before. There were some that looked like giant eagles with the head of a lizard. Some had the body of a horse with the legs and head of cheetahs. Some came with swirling auras of power and some were somewhat weak.
“These beasts are so different from each other. Their strength ranges from the 3rd Grade and up, some are even higher than my own. Luckily none of them have reached the Great Circle or are in the Beast Rank otherwise I would have to attempt to run away.”
A light cheerful smile spread across Akata’s face as he sensed all of the approaching beasts. He raised his scythe in the air and then let out a hearty laugh. “Let’s fight!” Then he charged forth.
