Akata eventually came to and started to look around. This legacy was of tremendous help to him. It wasn’t so powerful so that he wouldn’t be able to understand it, yet it wasn’t weak either. The main part about it was that it suited him completely! What good was a powerful technique about something he didn’t focus on or a weak technique that didn’t improve him at all?
Akata took in a deep breath as a warm smile came across his face. He then walked the rest of the way in the tower. He had actually been standing there for a few hours. Once inside of the tower, Akata looked around.
The inside was made of white marble and everything inside looked completely white. There was no furniture, only mats on the ground for sitting and meditating. When Akata looked inside he saw a few people sitting on the mats. Some of these people actually looked familiar to him.
‘That’s Xiao Pao right there meditating.’ Akata took notice of one of the figures that were seated. He looked much more mature and his cultivation base was at a much higher level than it had been in the past. ‘He’s reached the 7th Grade.’
Akata didn’t disturb him as he took a seat on a nearby mat and started to meditate. The rules here were simple, meditate and focus on the legacy that you were given. Once you reached a certain level of it, you will be permitted to go to the next floor. On the third floor, however, was when a trial would take place. The trial would be different for everyone depending on what legacy you were given.
Akata began to meditate on the legacy of Cultist Soulfire. The first time he viewed this legacy he had gained tremendous results, now that he would be going through everything meticulously, the results would be even better.
What Akata wanted to focus on now, was his skill with the Outer Element of Souls. Many people at his age used weapons and were very proficient at it. What would give him an edge would be his skill in elements.
Going back through the memories, Akata found the bit that talked about elements. Cultist Soulfire was better at using elements than he was in using scythes. His skill with the Inner Element of Fire and the Outer Element of Souls was what brought him fame in the first place. He described in detail how to use these two elements.
Cultist Soulfire used magic instead of runes to make use of elements. Magic was more advanced than runes but on a general scale they could be seen as weaker as well. Akata wasn’t that proficient with magic but luckily Soulfire had a knack for teaching.
He explained step-by-step on how to control the energy in the body. Where that energy should pass through, how much should be used, what it should feel like. Everything came together. It really helped Akata to learn how to use magic better.
In truth, the reason why Akata wasn’t that good with magic was because magic used divine energy as a basis of structure. With Akata’s innate skill and use of nature energy it made wielding magic much harder for him.
Now that Akata had awakened his divine sense, using magic was as easy as creating a rune for him. After a few tries, Akata held his hand out and a ball of black and crimson flames appeared within his palm. This was his hellfire. Akata then raised his plant hand and a ball of regular fire appeared, albeit this one smaller than the hellfire.

“So this is how you should use magic, huh? It’s much faster than creating runes and it gets right to the point in battle. With runes there is a time lag for activation, and the more powerful the attack, the longer the activation is. But at the same time, runes are also a bit more powerful.” Akata came to this conclusion.
With a wave of his hand the flames disappeared. Some of the disciples in the room opened their eyes and looked toward Akata. His flames had risen the temperature in the room and awakened some of them.
When they looked over and saw Akata, some of them were struck back with shock. This was Akata in front of them! And he was much stronger than the past. These people had seen how Akata had grown stronger than them by leaps and bounds but that was before he was punished. Now that all of this training had occurred they believed to have surpassed him immensely, but who would’ve thought that he would actually keep pace with them, and actually still surpass them.
They shook their heads and then closed their eyes to go back into meditation. Akata continued to focus on learning about elements. Learning about fire was simple since it was just an Inner Element but an Outer Element would be much harder.
Going through the memories of Cultist Soulfire, Akata began to understand a bit more about the Outer Element of Souls. He came to understand that everything could be manipulated with this element as souls were present in literally everything.
“Outer Elements can be seen as elements that are favored by the heavens. They hold tremendous power and likewise need tremendous control. The Outer Element of Souls is no different. In fact, it needs even more control than other Outer Elements.
The soul is the most important part of anything. Nothing can exist without a soul. To begin learning how to truly wield this element, you must come to understand your own soul. What do you believe, your dreams, your passions, fears, loves, what makes you… you? All of these questions once answered will get you closer to understanding your own soul. Once you understand your own soul then you can begin to understand the souls of others.”
Akata was left with a feeling of emptiness. Just what did make him up? His dreams? His loves? His fears? Looking back on himself, he didn’t truly know the answer to any of these things. What he had said before were just superficial things at the moment. But now, he needed to know what he truly was, what really made him, himself.
Sitting in silence, he began to think about it. He thought about all of the events of the past that have affected who he was. When he did the Third and Second Cabin Trial really stuck out to him. ‘Am I really a cruel person? It felt good when I cleansed that world of the evil that was in it but was it truly the right thing to do?’
This question sounded as if it should have came from an old person on their deathbed who was reminiscing about their whole life. But it was actually coming from a 13 year old boy. This clearly showed the level his mind was at in terms of other people.
He thought and thought and questioned himself. His actions, his thoughts, his interactions, his future. Finally he got an answer. ‘I simply don’t know just yet. Maybe I haven’t lived long enough or haven’t experienced much but as of this moment I don’t know. If I was to say what makes me myself then it would probably be the things around me. They affect me and in turn change who I am.’ This was the answer that Akata was given with much strain and thought.
It might seem like he didn’t even give an answer or that it was superficial but in reality, this answer affected him greatly. In fact, it cleared up his mind and opened a new way for him to improve himself.
‘Yeah. The world around me makes me… me. Just like the khaos and soul element are a pair and affect each other, the world and myself are affected in the same way. I myself affect the world and the world affects me. Just like there is a soul in khaos, there is khaos within souls.’
Realization flashed through Akata’s mind as a new level of enlightenment came washing over him. It was as if he understood everything that he needed to fully wield the Element of Souls to the best of his ability. Not just that but, he actually understood everything about the Element of Khaos as well.
As this level of understanding washed over him, a crimson and violet light emitted from his body to glow all over the place. A weird power arose from his body to awaken all of the disciples who were in the first floor of the tower. They all felt this bizarre power that was coming from Akata and they felt startled and taken back. This was simply too powerful.
Akata’s eyes snapped open and one eye was violet while the other was crimson. He stood up and the power coming from him intensified greatly. Soon people in the second floor were waking up and others near the tower were feeling the effects.
Akata reached out both of his hands and a violet light appeared in one palm and a crimson light in the other. One pulsed with the power of khaos and the other with souls. Akata slowly brought his hands together but soon he came to and crushed the lights. The light surrounding his body vanished and the powerful pressure disappeared as well.
Everything went back to normal as if nothing happened in the first place.
