Chapter 168: No Sword, Yin, or Life

At this moment, Akata found out that Noluck possessed the cultivation of the Mid Second Rank. Cultivation Ranks were divided into 10 Grades. Each Grade would increase a cultivators strength but here were also gaps between Grades that showed strength. These gaps were called the Low, Mid, High, and Peak Ranks.

Low ranged from the 1st Grade to the 3rd Grade. People with these cultivations were considered to have low abilities within the Rank. Then came Mid which ranged from the 4th Grade to the 6th Grade. High ranged from the 7th Grade to the 9th Grade and Peak ranged from the 10th Grade to the Halfstep.

Being Low Ranked or Mid Ranked was okay. But once someone stepped into the High Rank then that meant that they were only a few more Grades away from the next Rank. Those people would be seen as strong figures and people wouldn’t look down on them depending on the region.

The most powerful person Akata came into contact with, besides his sect’s elders and leader, was Golden Runic Lord Taple who had a cultivation at the Low Third Rank. Thinking about it this way, Noluck wouldn’t be far from that cultivation. That meant that Noluck would be extremely helpful when Akata encountered strong enemies he couldn’t defeat.

After a bit of thinking, Akata didn’t ask Noluck what his cultivation was. He could tell that Noluck was still becoming accustomed to using his spiritual power and didn’t mean to reveal his cultivation. Thus, Akata decided to ignore it.

“It seems that we now have a connection between us.” Since he decided to dodge the subject, Akata changed the topic. “Basically, from what I feel, my soul rune over there brought forth a connection between us. That connections allows you to be a part of me. That means you can actually dwell in my body and I can summon you whenever.” Akata began to explain.

“Ah. So that’s how it is. No wonder it feels like you can control me.” Noluck came to a realization. “No matter. I don’t wish to show my face to the world just yet. It just so happens that this place is a treasure trove to train in as well. All of these elemental energies are pure and I can comprehend the intents behind them.” Noluck spoke out as if he didn’t care about the matter at all. Him, who wished to even be Akata’s servant didn’t mind being controlled.

“Mn.” Akata nodded his head. He had a feeling Noluck wouldn’t mind. After speaking a few more words and coming up with a plan for the future, Akata left his soul region and put his consciousness back in his real body.

‘Even though it wasn’t as smooth as I hoped it would go, everything turned out even better than I expected. Now that all of this is done I should get some training in.’ With a flash, Akata rushed toward the arena to train.

After arriving Akata immediately sensed Peizhi Xiuying and Huihe Ji. He flashed over to their location.

“Brother Swordlife, your skills are simply monstrous. It’s going to take me a bit of time to catch up to you haha.” Peizhi Xiuying lightly laughed and spoke in a joking manner.

“Peizhi Xiuying, your skills are just as monstrous as mine. Heck! You can even turn into a real plant cultivator.” Huihe Ji said in a laughing manner.

At this point in time, both of them were sitting on the ground cross-legged. They appeared to be at ease and quite friendly with each other. Smiles were on their faces and laughs could even be heard.

“Whoa!” Akata yelled out upon seeing them. To be more precise, it was upon seeing the environment they were in. Originally it was a grand forest with towering trees and plant life. But now, their surroundings had turned into a wasteland. There were no trees, grass, or even soil near the two of them. It was like a barren land filled with naught.

“Akata!” The two of them cast their gazes toward Akata. They stood up and made their way over to him with faces of joy.

“Let’s fight!” Before any greeting words could come out, Huihe Ji spoke those words to Akata. Not to mention Akata, even Peizhi Xiuying was caught off guard.

“We’re going to be on the same team and therefore we should all know about each others abilities. What better way then to show them. After we spar we can talk about our fight and gain insights from it.” Huihe Ji spoke his words to clarify the situation. “Besides, from what I know, this war should be starting soon. At the earliest a few days from now but at the latest then maybe two weeks. We have to get stronger faster so we can prepare ourselves for all obstacles.”

If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

Akata listened closely. After hearing Huihe Ji out, even he had to admit that Huihe Ji’s way of thinking surpassed his. “That’s a great idea actually.” Akata smiled. Even if Huihe Ji didn’t ask to fight, Akata himself would’ve done so.

“Don’t leave me out of this. I’m part of the team as well. Besides, I’m the weakest of us three so I should be getting the most training in.” Peizhi Xiuying yelled out.

Seeing her flustered appearance and pouting face, Akata and Huihe Ji couldn’t help but laugh out loud. “Okay okay.” They both said at the same time.

After a few more greetings and words, the three of them ran to another region of land. This land was covered in bright orange sand. There were a few cacti around but other than those there was nothing else.

The three stopped in the desert and looked around. After nodding to each other that this was a good place, they started to let their fighting will run rampant. A strong gust of wind blew by and made the clothes of the three flutter violently. However, their figures remained unmoved.

“Hehe. Since we’re going to be working together and I trust you two, I won’t keep any secrets. I train in the Worldsword Spiritgod Tome. It’s an upgraded version of the Gluttonous Sword Spirit Art I used to train in. I can directly absorb the spiritual energy in my surroundings to increase my strength and sword intent. However, taking another’s life and absorbing their energy increases my strength even faster. With this tome, I can summon the Worldsword and transform my body into the Spiritgod Form.

My Worldsword and Spiritgod Form can be upgraded. Right now my comprehension has reached the Blood World level. At this level, when I summon my Worldsword it becomes the Bloodblade Sword, and when I transform to my Spiritgod Form I can increase my cultivation by a Grade and control World Spirits.” Huihe Ji started to explain.

“World Spirits are creatures from the Spirit World. The Spirit World is a separate space within my Worldsword. Whenever I take the life of someone and absorb their being, a part of them are trapped within my Spirit World and they become World Spirits. Since my strength is too low I can only control Blood Spirits. But I feel a breakthrough coming soon. I feel like I can reach the next level where I can control an Outer Element.”

Akata and Peizhi Xiuying looked at each other then back at Huihe Ji. The information he told them was truly priceless and secretive. If any of them had ulterior motives they could use this information to attack him with confidence. But, luckily, they were all rather close and trusting of each other.

“Well in that case I train in the Nine Petals Tome. It is an art that allows me to better control the yin element and also become a False Plantist. I am permanently a False Plantist now and with that my battle power rises greatly and I am able to control nature on a scale only true plant cultivators can match. I can summon plants and use their power as if they’re my own. All of my attacks contain the yin element and have a corrosive effect added to them, thus they can block armor to a certain degree.

If I need more power then I can become a True Plantist and transform into my Yinbloom Form. In my Yinbloom Form my attacks are much stronger, my defense is much greater, and my speed is much faster. I also have great skills in healing and support. When in my Yinbloom Form, my support skills are also enhanced to a much greater degree.” Peizhi Xiuying spoke out with a smile on her face.

Seeing as how the other two before him went, how could Akata keep his secrets? “I train in more than one art. I first started training in the World Omen of Lord Dullahan, the peerless assassination art. I learned my scythe skills from this. Then I started training in the Underdark Art and Heartsoul Techniques, which has taught me some soul element techniques in addition to a bit more scythe techniques. I’m very adept at killing my targets and won’t even leave a trace behind.

I also train in a mysterious art I found that allows me to fuse together other arts and techniques. This increases their power exponentially. From this art I also obtained a form which I call the Forsaken Form.”

Akata randomly came up with a name for his true form. Since Huihe Ji had his Spiritgod Form and Peizhi Xiuying had her Yinbloom Form, Akata, being a child still, wouldn’t let them outdo him. Thus, he came up with a random name for his true form. The Forsaken Form. The reason he thought of forsaken was because he felt like he wouldn’t use it at all.

Continuing to tell his secrets, Akata didn’t stop. “Not only that but I have two runes that… “

“Akata, Peizhi Xiuying, and Swordlife.” All of a sudden, the three people heard a familiar voice. They shifted their heads and found a beautiful lady standing in the air above them. That beautiful lady was of course Sect Leader Fu.

“Sect Leader Fu.” The three greeted her with respect.

“I have your mission ready. You will set out for it in two days. I’ll brief you about the mission along with your group tomorrow. For now I just wanted to say that you three are now apart of the Cloud Corps and are Dragonknights. Therefore, you have to take a title. Huihe Ji has already taken his title as Swordlife. Therefore only you two need titles. These titles will be your new names while on a mission. Do not address yourselves as anything else while on a mission.

The abrupt appearance of Sect Leader Fu caused the three to become flustered and lose their train of thought. Yet, as soon as she appeared she started talking about a sudden mission and then new names for them? How could they keep up?

Sect Leader Fu didn’t bother giving them time to think as she continued. “Peizhi Xiuying, your Dragonknight title will be known as Yinlife. From now on, while on a mission, this will be your only name.” Without waiting for her to say a word she turned to Akata and spoke. “Akata, your Dragonknight title will be known as Nolife. From now on, while on a mission, this will be your only name.”

With that she turned and left. She came swiftly, and left just as quickly.

The three stood at a loss, confusion filled their faces. The thoughts going through their minds was why she came randomly to tell them information that could have waited for tomorrow.

“Make sure not to tell anybody about your runes. Otherwise, I won’t wait for your enemies to come, for I will kill you myself.” Sect Leader Fu spoke mentally to Akata.
