Chapter 57: I’m Ready

Chapter 57: I’m Ready

Lady Haque, Great Priest Bambe, and Akata soon arrived in the room with the Elders and Lord Tafei. Tabet was there also and he quickly made his way over to Akata.

“How did it go?” He asked curiously with anticipation.

“I took out all of the foreign life force that was in him. It was actually quite a bit inside of his body. His soul region and dantion region all had some. Although it took a while I managed to complete it.” Akata smiled.

“Haha. I knew that you could do it. My father actually wants to speak to you. I don’t know what it’s about but it has to be important.” Tabet said. He turned his head in his father’s direction to see that he was talking to all the other Elders and that his mother and Great Priest Bambe were within the group. They couldn’t hear a single sound from the group but from the looks of it some of them were yelling.

Eventually they all dispersed and Lord Tafei strode forward and looked at Akata. “I am grateful to you for healing our Great Priest and like we came to you will heal the rest of our Elders, but things have changed. You will now be healing my father first.” Lord Tafei turned his head toward Tabet. “Tabet come here.”

Both Tabet and Akata were shocked. Tabet was shocked that his grandfather was willing to be healed by a human. Akata was shocked that there was another powerful figure in this cave.

Tabet walked toward his father where he was told something in private. Akata couldn’t hear a word of their conversation. Eventually he saw Tabet nod his head and then Lord Tafei turned his head and looked at Akata.

“Akata it seems that you are having troubles with runes. Well like our deal said I will personally teach you about runes, but you also have an outer element which I am not that familiar with. Only my father has an outer element under his control. But if you are to heal him, maybe he will teach you a little of what he knows.” Lord Tafei felt somewhat down as he was speaking.

Actually he felt down each time he spoke to Akata. How could he, someone who was the leader of this great tribe of his, try to bribe a young human? This felt like a shameful act to him. But all he could do was accept it. He truly wanted his tribe to be saved from calamity and this was the only way to do so.

Akata bowed at the waist and said, “I will try my best when healing your father, Lord Tafei.” He didn’t think to act confident in the matter. He saw how complex the life force was embedded in the senior generation and it would be much more difficult to heal them than the younger generation.

That, coupled with the fact that this powerful expert in front of him had a father, who was surely stronger than him, yet was in much worse condition, said how difficult the task of healing him would be.

Lord Tafei nodded his head. “Come here then. I will lead you to his chambers. Haque, you and the other Elder’s stay here and make sure nobody comes close to my father’s chambers. Tabet you come with me also.” Lord Tabet spoke seriously. He had a tinge of fear swelled up within him. This was a life or death matter for his father of course he would want things to be as safe as possible and that nothing would go wrong.

Akata was led into a doorway that led to a chamber. Inside of the chamber he saw a beam of light shining in from a hole in the ceiling. The light was angelic and calm as it landed on a naked figure. When Akata looked at it descend upon the figure he felt as if he had to worship this supreme being.

This feeling came instantly for Akata as his eyes landed on the figure. He could feel the inexhaustible power radiating from it as it sat there with its eyes closed. Even though Akata couldn’t feel any pressure coming from this figure, do to him being protected by Lord Tafei, he could tell that this was a power that was unrivaled.

It was a kind of power that he couldn’t even comprehend himself. Akata couldn’t even think about the level of power this figure had, let alone trying to figure out what this figure could do to him. Akata couldn’t begin to imagine gaining this strength in the future.

‘Jus… Just what is this presence? All I did was look at him and it’s causing me to lose control of myself. Is this what absolute strength is?’ Akata’s face was pale and cold sweat ran down his body as he came closer to the figure. Then another thought ran past Akata’s mind.

‘If they had a person this powerful in the tribe, then how were they forced out of their homes? Just what almighty expert could have the power to drive out this Scarlet Tiger?’ Akata became even more frightened.

‘If there are beasts this strong then I have a long way to go before I can be a match for them.’ A strange gleam appeared within Akata’s eyes. It didn’t come from his impulse to fight but from his will to be strong, his promise to reach the pinnacle of strength. ‘There are experts this strong, yet even he was put into a life threatening position due to the plant cultivator. Which means the plant cultivator was immensely much more powerful than him.

There are levels of power that I can’t begin to think about right now. Strength that far surpassed my own knowledge. If I am to uncover the secrets of this strength and reach the pinnacle then I must attain such strength.’

Even though he was thinking these things, his body was still trembling from the sight of the figure in front of his path. Akata looked over at Tabet and found that he was pretty much in the same situation that Akata was in.

Tabet rarely visited his grandfather due to his grandfather needing to concentrate full time. Yet, even after those times of visiting, the pressure emanating from his grandfather still made him tremble. It was simply just an enormous pressure weighing down on everything.

“Father… I have brought him here.” Lord Tafei said extremely respectfully. As he spoke he slightly bowed his head. Akata and Tabet immediately followed suit along with him. They followed along due to the respect they had for this figure. While Tabet had respect for familial reasons, Akata had respect for the powerful.

The figure in the light slowly opened his eyes and looked out. His gaze seemed to pierce through the essence of anything his eyes landed on. He first looked at Tafei and nodded, then his eyes slowly swiveled over to Tabet where he gave a slight smile, next his eyes shifted to Akata.

When his eyes met Akata, Akata felt as if his whole being was being violated. It was as if he couldn’t hide a single action, moment, or thought from this almighty figure. Under his gaze, Akata felt like he was a speck of dust in the vast expanse of space. There was simply no comparison between the two of them.

The figure slowly parted his lips and uttered some words. “I’m Great Lord Taple, you must be the mortal plant cultivator Akata, yes?” He asked the question but it was clear that he already knew the answer.

Akata immediately spoke out when Great Lord Taple finished his sentence. In his most respectful voice he said, “Great Lord Taple, I am indeed Akata. I have come to-”

“No need to finish your sentence. You didn’t come here to heal us but it just so happened to end that way for you. I felt when you first arrived here and I thought it was strange, but I let it be. It is a good thing I did too, otherwise we would have both lost some great fortune.” As Great Lord Taple spoke a broad smile formed across his face. It was a genuine smile that he hadn’t produced in a long while.

“Since you are willing to help us out then naturally we will help you as well. I’m already aware of the offer my son and grandson have given you, but I plan on giving you something else. With my divine sense spread out I was able to pick up on you training with Tabet. I have learned that you possess the talent cultivate outer elements. That is a very unique trait that even amongst the tribe, only I possess. Therefore, I will bestow some knowledge upon you to help you out.” By now Great Lord Taple started to speak with Akata mentally.

Akata couldn’t believe this beast’s words. This grand figure actually decided to reward him by giving him knowledge of outer elements. At first Akata didn’t think it would be a big deal, but at the time he didn’t think this figure would be this powerful. Akata sucked in a cold breath and nodded his head.

“Good. Good. Now I know that you have just finished healing Great Priest Bambe, so take all the time that you need to rest and recover your energy.” Great Lord Taple said calmly. “When you have just tell me you are ready and what you need me to do.” After that he closed his eyes once more and began to concentrate on staying alive.

Akata couldn’t begin to think about what had just occurred. An almighty powerful figure was going to teach him something that he truly desired. It was like being taught to fly when one had no wings. Yet it didn’t matter if you had wings because you could still learn and do it. It was a wonderful feeling for Akata.

He instantly sat down in meditation and began to rebuild his energy. Akata had expended a bit of energy while he was healing Great Priest Bambe, but even still, it didn’t take him long to recover. In about three or four hours Akata was back in tip top shape,

He stood up and opened his eyes. He slowly walked over to Great Lord Taple and said in a calm and steady voice, “I’m ready.”
