Endless Potential

Isaiah examined the book further, trying to figure out if it was a religious book or a fairy tale. The more he looked through it, the more convinced he became of its religious origins, especially when he compared it with other books that also shared the same eight godly figures. "Eight gods, huh? It's quite nostalgic." It had been a long time since religion had lost its grounds under Isaiah's rule in his previous universe. He found his lacking understanding of the language a shame; these books had caught his interest, making him want to read further. "At least, I picked up a few words, 'Amen,'" he chuckled.

Setting the books aside, Isaiah held in his hands two sets of keys. Both of which he found while searching for clues regarding the source of the blood that soaked the ground while he was reorganizing the room; all signs pointed to the old owner of this body meeting a gruesome death solely due to Isaiah's transmigration, it seemed like a side effect of his soul entering a new body. He smirked, "Such a shame, I would have loved to solve a murder mystery," he said while spinning the keys around his index finger.

He walked towards his room's door and tried the keys one by one. With a 'click' sound, one of the cubic keys fit the hole perfectly. He examined the remaining key; its shape hinted at its purpose. "One should be the apartments, the other..." He squinted at the inscription on the tag. "It either says 'Business' or 'Brothel.' Let's hope it's the latter," he mused to himself with a chuckle.

The inscription clearly had the word for 'Business' on it, causing him to reminisce about the days back when he was a simple businessman before he ever got into politics. He cleared his thoughts, "Now, how will I manage to find my business?" Clueless, he once again peeked outside from the window. Night had fallen already. A colossal, luminous moon bathed the silver cubic structures in an ethereal glow, transforming the city into a vast expanse of shimmering silver. Gone was the oppressive feeling the city gave during the day; it was now filled with serenity.

While appreciating the beautiful city, he noticed that the shop right under his apartment was closed while the rest of the establishments were still bustling with energy despite the moonlit night. "It might just be my lucky day today," he didn't rush downstairs. First, he took a shower to get rid of the blood stench on him. While showering, he tinkered with the showerhead and figured that it used most likely a pressurized system, which offered him insight into the technological prowess of his new planet.

After drying himself, he adorned a sleek full black suit he found in his wardrobe; it was tight-fitted. He made his way down the stairs while playing with the business keys. Arriving in front of the establishment, he knelt down to hold the lock and put the key inside. "Click", it opened. "Bingo!", he said, with a smile plastered on his face. He put up the 'Closed' sign and went to the back of the counter.

"A café, nice." After tidying the messy counter, he got to work. Since he couldn't manage to find the recipes usually served in the cafe, he would have to come up with his own. He dipped his finger into each ingredient, tasting them each in an attempt to come up with new menu items. "Hmm, these taste surprisingly good," Isaiah wasn't sure if it was his new taste buds or simply this planet's ingredients quality, but they tasted delicious.

He mixed a bunch of ingredients in accordance with how he thought would result in them tasting the best. After a bunch of trial and error attempts, he was able to come up with a menu he was satisfied with. Not knowing how the currency worked at the moment, he decided not to touch the prices for now.

Today was spent mostly observing and experimenting. He knew he would find it hard to act on more prosperous projects without a good grasp of the language, so he didn't act rashly; patience was the key to success. He locked the café and went back to his apartment. He lay on the bed, closed his eyes. Though he didn't sleep, instead, his mind worked vigorously to come up with plans for his future. He also went over all the knowledge he obtained today, trying to absorb it to the best of his capabilities before falling victim to the sweet embrace of sleep.

♪ 'The silver shines, and the wind chimes' ♪, he was awakened by a melody coming from outside his window. He saw a group of five, all dressed in silver robes; one sang the song while others played instruments.

People were quickly gathered around the group, some followed the beat with their heads, some held their hands in various positions which Isaiah assumed to be praying postures of various religions. There was a cheery atmosphere present under the bright blue sky.

He took a quick bath and got to work; last night, he had tweaked the menu, all that was left was to serve the customers. Bells chimed as two beautiful women walked into the café; they both shared chestnut hair and light purple eyes, looking like a copy of each other. Arriving in front of the counter, they looked through the menu. Isaiah waited for them to tell their orders with a professional smile.

He could decipher with his limited vocabulary that the two women were a mother-daughter duo, which surprised him as the mother looked to be around the same age as her daughter.

'Could we try your "Coffee Delicate"?' Allie, the mother, spoke. She had found the foreign-sounding name exotic and wanted to give it a try.

'Of course,' Isaiah quickly got to work, his hands worked with surprising coordination, and he had decided to put on a little show for the two ladies, cups flipped in the air as ingredients fell to fill them.

Soon, two "Coffee Delicates" stood on the counter as Isaiah waited for the ladies to pay while he wore an amicable smile.

Liking what she saw, Alice decided to tip 5 coins; she took out 25 coins in total. Just as she reached out to give the money to Isaiah, one of the coins slipped out of her hand and fell towards the ground.

Isaiah's eyes followed the coin's slow fall very intently. Just as the coin was about to make contact with the ground, it started to blur, the blur soon hugged the coin, stopping its descent, then it slowly floated back to Alice's hand. She looked back at the blank expression of Isaiah and chuckled; she wasn't surprised by his shock as finding a magic user was rare. She took the drinks and left the café with her daughter.

Isaiah's eyes were still staring at the place where the coin was supposed to fall, his mind working overtime, trying to comprehend what he just saw. A crazed smile crept its way onto his blank face. His eyes opened wide, his pupils enlarged. "HA HA HA HAH!", He burst out into thunderous laughter, each time he calmed down another laughter would creep up. He had not only confirmed his successful transmigration, but thinking back to the eight godly figures he saw in those religious books and the display of magic he had just witnessed, it all came together, connections were made in his mind at lightning speeds. The possibilities were endless, the things he could do, his absolute rule.
