"Yawn!" Isaiah stretched while yawning. He was still injured from the previous fight, his ribcage stinging with each breath he took, his legs burning as if there was a furnace burning inside them.
Holding the arms of his chair, he got up, causing his spine to crack. He straightened his back and started walking towards his door. Halfway through the room, his pupils shrunk; it was as if time stopped. BOOM!
The explosion launched him to the ceiling, CRACK!, causing his already hurting spine to suffer further. He didn't waste any time; a formation exploded on his back, sending him from the ceiling into the hole beneath. The moment he landed, SWOOSH, a blade covered with lightning slashed his entire vessel clean, which caused him to dissipate into light particles.
"Come out! You can't hide forever!" the man said, his Peak Rank 1 aura spreading from his body. His entire body was covered by a metal armor, his face couldn't be made out, only two menacing eyes visible.
A punch landed on his back, THUMP, prompting the man to bend his body in a seemingly unnatural way to swing with his full might, only to hit a bunch of light particles once more.
"Aren't you asha-" Before he could finish his taunts, a palm grabbed his face. Just as he was about to retaliate, he felt a kick on his ankles, causing his balance to tilt. THUD, his head hit the ground, his head banging inside the helm.
He swung with the blade still in his hand, only to managing to hit his clone once more. This, however, confused the man. Why would Isaiah do all that if he was going to escape once more? As if to answer his question, a black liquid leaked into his visor, followed by a huge acidic explosion right onto his face.
"AHHHgh!" He held onto his face, but all he could feel was the melted skin of his face mixing with the helm, his vision null. He knew he was fighting, so he tried to spread his mana to compensate for his lost vision, only to sense a kick approaching his face at lightning speed.
This sent his head smashing down, causing his agony to intensify. It didn't stop; the stomps continued, his already half-melted face was kicked in repeatedly. He wanted to reach for his blade but couldn't find it, but the blade did manage to find him. STAB! It went right through his head in a single clean stab.
Isaiah pulled back the sword; it was covered in blood, melted skin, and metal. "What a way to ruin such a nice sword." In contrast to a man who had just gone out of a fight, his mood was impeccable. He was pretty happy he had managed to test his new Acidic Blast Formation, and the results didn't disappoint.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
He looked around the room of the casino where the fight took place. Apart from the huge hole in the ceiling, it was surprisingly in good condition, probably because he had managed to finish the fight swiftly.
This room was towards the backside of the casino, so it didn't house many customers in the first place.
A smile appeared on Isaiah's face; he was genuinely happy about this assassination attempt. "Seems like whoever is behind all these gangs started to take action." Attempting an assassination at a casino in the heart of the district wasn't something someone would do with no orders.
Also, the utilization of a Peak Rank 1 showed him how pressed they felt about his actions. Peak Rank 1's weren't pennies you could spend.
He looked at the hole in the ceiling and nodded. "Seems like those formations were not a waste of money." Isaiah obviously didn't sense the approaching attack from the ground below with his senses but rather the detection formations he had surrounded his office with. While a bit pricey, one couldn't say if he would be alive right now without them.
He turned around, walking back towards his office. Each step he took was agony, his spine felt like it was a sword inside his body, he barely felt his legs due to the intense burning sensation. On his way to his office, he met Lily, who was a little startled having heard the explosion noise coming from his office. However, one could see she took it better than before.
Rather than fear, it was mostly worry present within her eyes. "Sir, are you okay?" She could tell the answer from just looking at him, but she still asked. Isaiah shook his head, pointing towards his office's door. "Come with me."
Lily dutifully tailed behind Isaiah. He sat on his chair and leaned back. "Make sure you are available anytime next month. I plan to give you my gift then." Lily nodded, excited about his gift, knowing how her boss was, she expected a great gift. Seeing the smile on her face put one on Isaiah's face as well.
"Well, you can leave." He pointed at the hole. "Make sure they fix this." Lily nodded, just as she turned around to leave, she turned back to face him. "Um, would you like a massage?" She was currently free, and seeing her boss suffer 24/7 bothered her.
Isaiah replied with a huge smile, "Of course! Have I ever told you that you are my best employee?" Seeing the large smile that appeared on his face, Lily chuckled and nodded, "Yeah, you keep telling me that, Sir." She got next to him as he lifted his legs and put them on a stool.
He was well aware; she had asked to massage his back rather than his legs, but if he let her massage his back, there was a not-so-small chance she could cripple him right now. Lily got to work. Isaiah leaned back on his chair, his head tilted back. Her hands felt like heavens washing away the fire burning within his legs. "I should give you an 'Isaiah's No1 Employee' badge," he chuckled, "Would you wear it?"
She also chuckled, "Sure, why not?" Seeing her agree to wearing such a tacky badge, Isaiah took out a notebook and a pen and noted down, "Get Lily a 'badge.'" He obviously wasn't planning to give her any random badge; his gifts were renowned in his previous universe, and they would soon be renowned in this one as well.
