Ch 91: Inconvenient Timing

Alex glanced up, smilign as the doctor came in, "Hello. Finished with your redesigning already?"

Dr Elune raised an eyebrow, sitting down next to Alex, "Yeah, I really need to run the specs by Laura and prototype them to get any further. I sent of the plans for when she can get some time. Besides... I thought you were helping me process those?"

Alex blinked, and chuckled, "Ah, I have developed a habit of splitting my proccessing. Systematic tasks are done seperately to running the AHOR, and my developed personality along with it, in order to avoid my emotions from giving unexpected results."

Nodding thoughtfully, the doctor peered at Alex for a moment, "That is a pretty good idea... Try not to use it too much though, your emotional input also carries your instinct and habit, too. The extra insight can prove useful, and will help keep you in touch with your more... Unique skills."

Alex grinned, and put their book down, "You mean my robotic processing. That is true though, I am losing that at a surprising rate, tending to over-analyse things now... It has gotten better since my memory scrub a few days ago, but I need to bring my personality back in check."

"Hah, you only say that so you can continue with more complex sims, to show off." As Alex blushed and rolled their eyes, the doctor giggled, "Which reminds me, we have an interesting scheduling conflict this week..."

"Oh? I will check, I only go back through my processes for analysis at night usually." Closing their eyes, Alex hummed softly as they combed through recent requests from the mansion, "Ahhh, I think I see it. Tom wants to come around on the same day as Max..."

"While both are coming here for your delightful vr setup, I'm not sure you can juggle the social dance around both at once. Neither know you are an AI, after all."

Grimacing, Alex nodded, "And both know different things about us. I'm not sure giving either a more complete idea would end well." Taking a deep breath, Alex ran through some ideas in their head, "Well... We could try having Tom 2 days later, I haven't confirmed with him yet. Rescheduling Max might be awkward..."

If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

"Hmm... We can hope he says yes, but I doubt it will work. How about, make sure Max comes early, and have them in different areas of the sims. I will handle Tom, you handle Max."

Alex smiled, "I could handle both, you know. As long as I concentrate."

"Oh no you can't. I have faith in your ability, but if they do alk to ech other, both speaking to an Alex would be hard to explain."

"... Never mind that idea, then." Furrowing their brow, Alex sighed, "I also just thought... Your idea is to keep them seperate, right?" The doctor nodded, listening curiously, "Well, there is a limit to how much I can handle in the sims. If Ren isn't in running prototypes, I guess I might be able to handle both, but barely."

Groaning, the doctor slumped in their chair, "Ask Tom to reschedule, then. If he asks why, tell him we already have the vr booked, and it might tax the system. And if he is persistant, or can't reschedule... Then we simply hope that they don't talk too much."

"Yes, doctor." Groaning as they sent off the first message as commanded, Alex gently put the book in their lap away, not quite in the mood to read anymore.

"... What were you reading there?"

"Oh, this?" Tapping the book on the nearby table, Alex grinnned, "I have been going through Greg's study, reading through the various journals. The different ways of seeing the world, and the things those peopel have gone through... It is fascinating."

Chuckling, the doctor leant over, glancing at the cover, "Had any particularly interesting individuals so far?"

Alex paused, hesitating, "... Only one so far, the first ournal I read. It... Was set in the war. They didn't make it to the end."

the doctor went quiet, understanding. Reading up on the wrongdoings of your predecessor woudl unnerve most. "Well, if ou have some time... It has been a while since I've had you mod a game. there has been this one that coul carry over into your sims well... Want to take a look?"

Grinning, alex eased out of the chair, "You know... That does sound like a fun little idea."
