Ch 21: Robo arms

The last of the holographic heads flickered on, Dr Elune sprawled as un-majestically as possible on their couch, "Woo... We are all here now. Anyone else on the verge of napping?"

"12 hours isn't napping, Sam. Neither is 6." Yawning, John blinked wearily, "But yes, we all are. Except Norman."

"Hey, nobody is going anywere, and that's the way we like it. I'm just surprised I am the only one to miss out in the excitement."

"Well... Between covering for Alex, and generally trying to work out the new legislation for AHOR, Quyet and I are beat." Francis frowned at Dr Elune, "Speaking of, wasn't it you who brought up radio silence?"

"I was getting to that. I, uh... Have hit a snag."

"Alex was our means of testing AHOR before the Ohara unit came onboard. Now, that would be illogical. So, we need one of us to... Well, get good at using AHOR, and fast."

Blanching, Akasha shook her head, "No way I am binding part of AHOR to me! What if it goes wrong?"

"Relax, it will be fine. You would look great with robo-arms." Grinning, Dr Elune ignored the eye-roll from Laura, "Besides, we will use an helmet for testing. No direct interface at first."

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

"... Oh. So, uh, who?"

And, without a word, everyone stops. Thinks. Then stares straight at Norman.

"W- Hey! We don't even know if I will be that effective! We need to make this convincing, remember."

"... I have a backup plan. Besides, we need an average person to be able to use this stuff. You are the best guinie pig."

"And the one with the most free time?"

"... There is that, too. Alex, set him on a strict training regime."

"Yes, doctor."

"... I hate you all."

With a grin, Dr Elune dismissed their end of the call, too tired to participate any further. The Alex-head remained, looking concerned. "Spit it out, Alex."

"This... Buckup plan. Isn't it too risky?"

"I have faith in Norman. Especially if he catches wind of your little side-project."

"You know about that?"

"I did some snooping. Also, it showed in your maintenance. Less wandering off, by the way. Also, make it harder to see that data."

"Yes, doctor."

Sighing, Dr Elune crawled under the blankets, curling up to sleep for the 'night'. They did have faith in Norman, and in their plan... But they hoped plan B wasn't neccesary.
