Ch 87: Exhaustion from Exhilaration

Jolana jumped slightly as her phone rang, Dr Elune showing as the caller. Picking up, she smiled and spoke softly, "Hello? Anything the matter doctor?"

"Hey Jolana. Just wanted to check up on you guys, you have been out for a while. And, uh... Alex has been showing a lot of activity today."

Jolana shrugged, "First time in a strange crowd, that is a lot to take in. Alex is fine, just worn out from our little adventures, we are on the way home now."

Dr Elune sighed, "Good to know. Sorry to bug you, but..."

Giggling, Jolana leant back tiredly, "No problem... First time letting your precious Alex out of your sight, after all."

"... Not sure I like your implications there. I have had a weird day." Chuckling softly, the doctor took a deep breath, "Anyway, thanks for taking care of Alex, and see you when you get here."

"See you soon." Hanging up, Jolana glanced down at the dormant Alex, not even breathing as only a few key sensors had been left on. Stroking a hand over the unit's head, Jolana smiled thoughtfully.

Time passed, Jolana alternating looking out the window, or glancing down at Alex. It was an odd feeling, for someone to be here, yet not. Jolana gently poked Alex's shoulder, getting no response. "Right... You only respond to key words, or touching your face, as long as you are asleep like this..."

Glancing back up, Jolana fidgeted restlessly, now rather curious about what she could get away with. And there was a long ride ahead... Glancing back down, she gimaced, that still, innocent face resting gently.

Staring adamantly through a window, they passed by a few shopfronts, almost at the edge of the spire now. Whizzing past a clothing shop, she blinked as she looked back down, thinking about Alex once again.

Giving into temptation, she gently poked at Alex's stomach, before tugging at their top. Nope, still no belly button. Rubbing over the spot where it should be, Jolana tilted her head, intruiged by how... Natural the structure still felt, slight modification exluded.

Glancing back up again, Jolana glimpsed her faint reflection in the window, face slightly flushed as she realised what this would look like. Gently lowering the shirt back to where it was, she was suddenly very grateful Alex was unlikely to notice any of that.

"Geez, you lot have been a bad influence on me... Making me toy with a guy's body as he sleeps..." Giggling to herself, Jolana suddenly realised... Max had said Alex was a guy, but that was going off assumption, and they had ran with it. Technically... This could still be the female unit.

Face warming further, she shook herself, and pulled out her phone, deciding to pass the time to distract herself. No more checking Alex's body without permission. She squirmed, stopping the continuation of that thought from continuing any further.

Jolana gently brushed Alex's cheek as the Mag-Pod pulled up in the driveway, "Alex, time to wake up."

Groaning as they sat up, Alex blinked sleepily, glancing out the window, "Sorry for that... I really needed that nap, apparently. Looks like I have some inread messages, too..."

Looking back, Alex smiled, "Hmm? You look a bit warm. Everything okay?"

"Everything is fine! Just, uh, was a bit too distracted reading before we got here, that's all."

Alex shrugged, and opened the door for them, "If you are sure." Waiting patiently for Jolana, Alex waved as Dr Elune approached from around the mansion.

"Hello you two! Have a fun little jaunt into the spire?" As Alex nodded, the doctor raised an eyebrow at Jolana, who was stretching from the long trip home, "You, uh, look a little flushed. Anything wrong?"

Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

"Just my head..." Jolana muttered to herself, before speaking up with a nervous giggle, "No, nothing wrong. Anything exciting while we were out?"

"Just the usual." Dr Elune leant close, whispering to Jolana as Alex pulled the bags out of the pod, "So... Someone enjoy themselves?"

Jolana glared at the doctor, "Don't know what you mean. Anyway, we should head inside, we are both exhausted after all that today..."

Dr Elune nodded, grinning as they grabbed some bags to help Alex, "What was the highlight of your little trip? I only knew your vague route, so I could prepare maps for you."

Alex glanced up, eyes widening as they grinned, "Well, we went around, visited some stores... Then we paid a visit to one of Jolana's friends, who was pretty close to what you could do in terms of Virtual Physics."

"Oh? Explains why you are so tired then, if you were talking about that. And hey, most of the hard work on that was your doing~"

Alex blushed faintly, "Uh, yeah... Jolana implied that it was all my doing. I brought a HPA with me in case we needed one, and I couldn't resist showing off."

Dr Elune chuckled, smiling a little stiffly as they looked forwards, "Good to see you are having fun, then. Maybe you should hang out more often, compare notes."

"That was Jolana's idea as well, but maybe him coming here next time. Reduce the stress on me, and we can show him the vr setup we have."

Dr Elune nodded, putting a bag down in the main hall with a groan, "Sounds good. Geez, what did you buy?"

Jolana whistled innocently, Alex handing the bags over to some drones, "We passed a few different stores... There are some machine parts that were unusual, and some logic puzzles I hadn't seen before. Now, if you escuse me, I need to go rest, and help direct these drones to put stuff away..."

As Alex wandered off, the doctor smiled pointedly at Jolana, who glanced around, "... Yes?"

"... Out of, well, concern for what Alex was getting into... I did figure out where you guys went." The doctor help up their hands, "I do appologise for snooping, but who knows what might tip someone off about Alex. So... You sure this Maximus won't figure it out?"

Jolana sighed, leaning against a wall, "Yeah, it was a mistake on my part... Max has already figured out that Alex isn't 'normal', but he chalks it up to augmentation. Good enough, for now... But I need to be more cautious about that." As the doctor groaned, she also shot a glare at them, "Beside, you are one to talk. A misssing belly button is pretty noticable, don't you think? Especially in that top we agreed to."

"What...?" The doctor stared for a sec, remembering, "OH crap! I had actually forgotten I did that! Oh, I uh..." They looked down meekly, "... Guess we are both at fault. Agree to both be less stupid?"

Jolana giggled, unable to stay mad as she shook the doctor's hand, "Agreed."

Rubbing their head, the doctor began walking to the bedrooms, "I will worry about Max in the morning... Make sure he doesn't snoop on us, to figure out or tech." Jolana nodded, it was quite viable for Max to try and conact her that way to talk about the vr, "Also... How did you find out about Alex's bellly...?"

Jolana blushed brightly, "... Stretching."

"Whatever you say~" Laughing as they ran away, the doctor soon dissapeared, leaving one thoroughly worn out Jolana to make her way to bed.
