The Captain and Charlie arrive at a room in the basement of the school. Before they walk in Charlie asks "Do you think they would be able to make it?"

The Captain sighs "At this point, everything is worth a shot."

When they enter the room their ears are assaulted with sounds of sparking and hammering. Before them was a gym sized room with random parts and machines scattered around. The 2 spot there target, it was the oldest of the 5 kids there.

After maneuvering carefully around all of the computer parts they arrive at the child's workbench. The kid that was sitting there looked to be 25 years old with a full stubble beard, but was built like a twig.

The Captain says under his breath "I can't believe he is 12."

As they arrive the kid looks up and the Captain pulls out a plan saying "What do you think? Could you guys do it?"

The kid looks over the plan with his complete focus like he was trying to solve a puzzle. On the paper was a drawing of a magazine with a picture of a kid with a hand on it putting something into it.

After the kid finishes inspecting the 'plan' he looks back up at Charlie and the Captain to say in a squeaky voice "What in the world is this supposed to be, Captain?"

Charlie and the Captain stand there in shock for a moment as they thought their drawing was amazing.

The Captain, a little embarrassed, says "It is a magazine that takes the power of a supernatural and fires it like a bullet. So now do you think you can do it?"

At this point the kid leans back and yells to the other four kids that were working "What do you guys think? Stop working on the missile and try to make this magazine?"

This was met with discussion and after everyone had stopped talking a tall 9 year old yells back "Sounds good to us, but we don't know if we will succeed or not, Gill."

Gill turns back to the Captain and Charlie "You heard them, we'll try our best, but no promises, Captain."

The Captain says "That's fine, I will be back at the end of the day to see the progress."

Gill responds "Sounds good, Captain" to which Charlie and the Captain leave to take on their other duties. After they left Gill yells "K guys, let's get to work."

As Jace is walking out of his safe house he smells an awful stench and almost throws up. After regaining control Jace decides to investigate the source of this foul smell.

After a few minutes of walking Jace arrives at the source. 'Man I am stupid'. In front of Jace on a tree is the demon diseased wolf that Jace planned to process into meat. Jace then climbs the tree while holding his breath to cut the wolf down.

Jace slices through the last rope and hears a thud when the wolf connects to the ground. Getting off the tree Jace lights the wolf on fire with his flaming hex.

'I can't have something that marks my base like a beacon of stink'. Jace turns and starts walking to the safe zone as the last of the wolf burns up into ashes.

The Chief and Investigation head arrived near the safe zone as the sun was disappearing over the horizon as they expected. When they arrive at a camp location the Investigation head takes off with his squad to scout.

After they leave the Chief makes an announcement to the squad captains. "Tonight, we will be attacking the base of our enemy. I want everyone prepared to attack at a moment's notice, is that clear?"

The captains responded "Yes, Chief." "Good, now go start preparations." The captains nod and all leave while the Chief waits for the Investigation head to arrive back.

At this same time Jace had also set up camp for the night with Reaper and was in a debate with himself.

'Should I upgrade The Base tonight? If I do then I am becoming more powerful and could deal with the demon base easier. On the other hand however, if I am caught in the combination room and get attacked, then I die. Well, I think I know my answer'.

Jace says good night to Reaper who would be keeping watch and checks out for the night.

At the demon base the exact opposite was happening. Instead of having an hour more of work to do, all of the demons had a few hours and needed to work by firelight.

This made their already demanding job even harder as they were tired and couldn't really see what they were doing.

The sick and injured had it even worse and were only working off of pain medications. That night little known to everyone else was the start of the downfall of the demon base.

After the Investigation head returned he met the Chief in his tent. "What is your report?"

The Investigation head responded "The base appeared to be under defended and the guards were very lax. If we launch a surprise attack, then I expect that we will defeat them easily as most of the more powerful mana wielders appeared to be sleeping for the night. The only thing in our way is visibility and their 3 fences. If we can get over those fast then we will slaughter them, Chief."

The Chief was ecstatic to hear this but felt something off about it "First I have a plan for visibility if their inventions are not working. Second, are you sure that they were under defended? Could it just be that they are very confident in their abilities?"

The Investigation head responds "No, I thought that also, but it appeared that most guards had no mana at all. It appeared as if they thought of themselves as the top dog and that no one would attack them, Chief."

The Chief nods "Well then, let's get ready to get some revenge."

After the two walked out of the tent the Chief prepared to start his battle speech, which would mark the start of the end for the safe zone.
