Jace wakes up to the notification he thought he might hear that morning. "Ding, killed 12, one horned demons and one scout demon, xp gained 2500. Due to the title effect xp increased to 3000."

"Ding, you have leveled up." "Ding companion has earned 3200 xp." Jace sat up and thought about the amount of xp he just gained.

'That is a crazy amount I earned, the title effect applying to everything separately is crazy. Man, my Splitter V2 is potent enough to kill 13 demons. How good is Splitter V3 going to be? Also, I think that I met all the requirements for my companion to hatch, so why hasn't it?'. Jace then opens his status to investigate this mystery.

Jace quickly looks over his status and moves to see what is wrong with his companion.

have a level 1 disease in storage(0/1 in storage)

Jace then sees what his problem is and moves to fix it. "I put Splitter V3 into incubation so it doesn't count as' in storage'. Jace moves Splitter V3 into storage and hears a crack from where Jace stored the egg as well as a notification. "Ding, requirements for companion to hatch have been met. Activating hatching sequence."

Jace gets up and moves to where he stored the egg observing its changes. Jace sees that the lines of red, green, and purple are becoming more and more apparent as well as pulsating. The egg then starts to fall apart from the top and Jace hears a chirp.

The egg fully breaks and splits in two allowing Jace to see what was kept in the egg. In the egg there was a chick no bigger than Jaces palm that was staring at him. The chicks feathers were colored even blacker than the egg.

Jace then hears a notification he expected was coming. "Ding, hatching sequence is complete, status has been updated" "Ding, please choose a name for your companion." Jace sits looking into the chick's eyes that are looking directly back at him. Jace feels like he is looking at a grim reaper waiting for its orders and decides on a name.

"Your name is Reaper" as Jace finishes telling the chick its name he feels a connection form between them. Reaper then jumps onto Jace's shoulder from its position as the distance between them was close. Jace is surprised at this but doesn't question and opens the status to see the changes under companions.

Level 1 (Xp to level up 0/200)

Species: Dark Phoenix

State:Fledgling

After seeing the companion status screen Jace's first thought is 'Looks like I will need to level him up. Also, why was he born with feathers and why are there no stats to see? It doesn't matter, priority is leveling him up, but the question is how?'. Jace starts on a plan to level Reaper up while Reaper sleeps on his shoulder.

In the demon base everything is going downhill at a rapid rate. Everyone woke up to almost all of the infected demons dead. This set everyone into a panicked state as they thought that the infected would be fine with medical treatment.

Because of this all of the demons supposed to be non-infected that were feeling sick and ignored it, made a beeline to the medical tent. Which then created a pile up in front of the medical tent where scuffles and fights started breaking out.

The aid tried to stop them but was powerless against them. As this was happening the Leader was still in bed fighting the disease inside his body. As the outside was only getting worse and worse the aid finally decided to run to the Leader's tent.

As the aid walks in he sees that the Leader is laying in his bed while clutching his chest. This makes the aid freak out and run to the medical tent screaming "Help! Help! Something is wrong with the Leader!"

This makes everyone stop what they are doing and look at the aid. When what the aid is saying registers everyone makes a path and the doctor runs out heading to the Leaders tent. The doctor gets there and inspects the Leader while everyone stands outside talking in groups. The doctor finds nothing wrong and sighs in relief when the Leader sits up.

The Leader, realizing something was wrong, asks "What happened?" The doctor answers "14 infected demons died over the night and everyone freaked out, Leader." The Leader nods and walks out of his tent. As the Leader walks out a punch comes for his head which he dodges.

It turned out a demon wanted to take his chance with a weakened Leader to have the chance to become Leader. This backfires as when the demon misses the Leader sends a counter punch sending his head flying.

Jace gets no xp from this interaction because the demon was one of the few not infected. The Leader, seeing that the threat was taken care of, turns to the rest of the base. "I am fine and well. I have heard the bad news and promise it will not happen again.

Today is a day off, and everyone should be tested for infection." The Leader then turns back around and walks into his tent as the aid follows behind. The rest of the demons stand for a second before all celebrating their day off, and all head to the medical tent.
