After speaking, Mengdie gestured to Nia in the corner and was about to head towards the northeast gate. Unexpectedly, Edward, the thick-headed prince, grabbed her again! Considering that Aya's current predicament and the sisters' homelessness were partly his fault, Mengdie was infuriated by his interference.
"What do you want now?"
"Mengdie! You... you can't possibly succeed alone. We... we should think this through..."
"Fine, the most important thing now is Aya's safety. If you can get your father to release Aya immediately and drop the charges against the sisters, I'll listen to you. We can plan or rest, no problem." Mengdie turned, her tone cold. "Can you do that?"
Edward was speechless. He was no match for Mengdie in terms of practical combat and tactical planning. He reluctantly let go of her hand, watching her about to leave...
Just as Mengdie freed herself and prepared to run, a rain cloud floated over from the direction of the royal palace. This cloud was different from ordinary ones, smaller in size. It drifted in front of Mengdie, blocking her path.
"What's this?"
On seeing the cloud, Mengdie cautiously stepped back. Sisco seemed familiar with it and approached with a crackling ball of lightning in his hand.
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
"Mengdie, please step aside."
Sisco threw the lightning ball into the cloud, urging everyone to step back. Soon, the cloud began to change, rumbling and starting to rain.
The raindrops on the ground didn't scatter but formed words. Blue electric light flickered on them, clearly visible even in the dark night.
"What does it say?" Mengdie asked.
Sisco, Dobber, and Edward looked surprised.
"What? Tell me!" Mengdie urged, sensing something was wrong.
Dobber covered his mouth, trying to compose himself. "Mengdie... the king has decided... Tomorrow at noon, at the Grand Plaza of the Mysterious Garden in the rich district, there will be a public trial for Aya Soren. If found guilty, she will be executed immediately... by burning..."
"What?!" Mengdie screamed in disbelief. Behind her, in the dark corner of the building, Nia fell to the ground, crying.
"Sister! Aya sister! How is this possible? She did nothing wrong, how can she be sentenced to death?!"
Distraught, Nia ran over, hitting Edward's chest with her little fists, her eyes filled with despair at losing her only kin. Edward, only a prince and not a king, could only apologize helplessly.
Mengdie thought hard. Time was running out - only nine hours left. The trial's result seemed predetermined. What to do?
"Hmph!"
Mengdie huffed, fists clashing. What else to say? If it weren't for Aya, she wouldn't have survived after arriving in this world. She might as well act now. Though she hadn't done such a thing on Earth, it wasn't too late to start. Compared to going after the Black Flame Snake, where White Shadow alone was a big enough challenge, saving Aya seemed more feasible.
"Edward, Sisco, Dobber, come inside."
Mengdie, leading Nia, entered the house. Once seated, she asked directly, "Dobber, tell me the entire trial process. I need to time everything."
"Alright, Mengdie. I'll tell you everything."
"Sisco, can you create a holographic map of the Mysterious Garden Plaza? Show me every corner and mark every key figure. Let's estimate five thousand soldiers for now."
"Five thousand? That's probably too many, but okay."
"Edward, do you know Princess Sassafras of the Luwell Empire? Where is she now?"
"Sassafras Luwell? She's still in the royal city..."
"Good. Can you send her a message, asking her to leave the Silver Moon Kingdom around one o'clock tomorrow afternoon?"
