Chapter 51 Wolf Pack
"Tch, darn it, I can't believe that wolf. I'm lost, and I've already spotted two other animals here. Also, the cries of that dying wolf should have attracted more of its kind to this spot. I need to get back to Lucia before those wolves arrive." Aleshia tried to skin the wolf for its fur using the stick she had in hand. However, the stick was not sharp enough, and her attempt only resulted in jagged and uneven cuts on the fur. Realizing she was wasting her time, Aleshia decided to give up and tried to make her way back to Lucia. As she walked through the forest, trying to retrace her steps, Aleshia realized she didn't know where she was. Audible mutters of irritation escaped her, "Why did I wander so far from where I killed that wolf? That was so foolish of me!" Frustrated, she kicked a nearby shrub, unable to contain her exasperation.
"I need to calm down and think," Aleshia muttered as she steadied her breath and relaxed. Now, with a clear head, she had a clear direction to go towards. After several minutes of walking, wary of alerting the creatures around her, she finally arrived at where the green wolf had died. To her surprise, the wolf's carcass was no longer there. The only evidence remaining was some bits of fur she had cut off and some of its blood on the ground.

After what seemed like an eternity, Aleshia's eyes finally caught sight of some faint footprints on the forest floor. To her dismay, alongside the familiar footprints, several sets of paw prints, unmistakably belonging to a pack of wolves. A sense of dread crept over her as she pondered the implications. "Could the cries of the wolf I killed have summoned its pack to seek revenge?" Aleshia's mind raced with worry. "If these prints are here, the wolves will trace them back to Lucia!"
Without a second thought, Aleshia sprinted through the forest, her heart pounding with fear and determination as she followed the distinct tracks before her. As she pressed on, the dense trees gradually gave way to an open clearing, and she recognized the familiar surroundings of the area. The hill nearby, concealing the ancient ruin, served as a silent confirmation of her location. Suddenly, the howls of wolves echoed through the air, causing Aleshia to hasten her pace toward the source. Her breath caught in her throat as she witnessed a terrifying scene unfolding before her eyes. Lucia was in the middle of a fierce attack by a pack of relentless wolves.
