Chapter 97 Absence of Light
When Dahdin awoke, he was stunned into silence by the complete absence of light around him, momentarily dazed by his surroundings. Turning his head, he noticed a ray of light cutting through the darkness. Fixating on it, he calmed down as his eyes adjusted to the dim light. Curiosity began to fill him as he wondered what was happening. One moment, he had been with the hat and the ghoul girl, and the next, he found himself in a space with no light except for that small ray.
Trying to understand his surroundings, Dahdin cautiously walked through the dark space, seeking its edge. Although he could see only a few meters ahead, that did not deter him from exploring. After several minutes of searching, he could not find the island's edge, so he decided to investigate its foundation instead. Dahdin also felt uneasy about being in an open area where he could not see clearly. He began to paw at the ground, digging slowly. Beneath his paws, he encountered the familiar textures of dirt and grass, which were oddly both comforting and unsettling.

As he continued to dig, Dahdin found himself in a hole he could not easily climb out of. Instead of trying to escape, he chose to dig deeper. After what felt like endless digging, Dahdin suddenly felt air instead of the ground he had been digging through. This was puzzling, as his senses still indicated he was digging downward, while his eyes revealed that he was breaking through to the surface. When Dahdin emerged from the hole he had dug, he searched for the light he had first seen upon waking and quickly found it. Dahdin marked the position he was in now and compared it to the point where he had begun digging.
Dahdin dragged his feet as he made his way toward the light, hoping to find the hole he had dug earlier. When he reached the light, he began surveying the area, trying to locate the hole. Strangely, he could not find the hole where he had dug it. Perhaps he had misremembered its location. Nevertheless, Dahdin did not dwell on it for long. Instead, he decided to dig directly beneath the ray of light, marking the spot where he would dig this time.
Dahdin once again began digging, this time right below the light. The light shone on the Green Wolf's fur, contrasting the bright green with the pitch black. Unaware of the danger he had escaped, Dahdin continued digging downwards.
