Chapter 48 Nickname the Witch Hat
"Ahh, fresh air! How lovely," Aleshia exclaimed as she exhaled. The witch hat replied, "Yeah, I suppose so. Although, as an object without my five senses, I sadly can't taste that 'air' you speak of. But I do understand the feeling." Aleshia's eyes adjusted to the bright light dancing between the leaves of the trees, and she remarked how beautiful it was. "Witch hat, this view is so gorgeous. The colors of nature all around us and the breeze lightly tickling the skin!" As she expressed her gratitude for the outdoors, she noticed something that had bugged her. "Witch hat, your name is a bit weird. Would you like to be called something else?"
The witch hat turned downward, looking at Aleshia with a questioning tone. "Hmm, a different name? Sure, I wouldn't mind being called something other than 'witch hat' or 'hat.' Do you think you could come up with a name for me?" Aleshia was ecstatic at the hat's acceptance and immediately began thinking of what she could call the witch hat. 'Maybe Susan would work. Hmm, or maybe Daniel? Wait, what is the hat's gender anyway?' As Aleshia thought that, she immediately blurted out her thought, catching the hat off-guard. "Hey, witch hat, do you know what type of name you want?" The witch hat didn't quite understand what Aleshia meant, so it said, "A short one is fine, but nothing too grandiose, as that would take too much time to say."
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Aleshia sat there, puzzled after hearing the words, and quickly rephrased what she had said. "No, I didn't mean it like that! I meant to say, do you know if you want a guy or a girl name?" The witch hat quickly understood what Aleshia meant upon hearing that and turned a bit brighter in hue in embarrassment for misunderstanding her. "I don't know, but I feel a girl's name would be better. If you get caught suddenly saying a guy's name in the middle of a crowded area, it could lead to misunderstandings with anyone you find yourself attracted to."
Aleshia blushed slightly after hearing the hat's last remark. She replied to the witch hat with indifference. "I don't believe anyone I had feelings for would be alive until now, so I don't think that would be a problem." As she began to brood on her words, she changed the topic. "Anyway, how about we start thinking up a new name for you?"
