Chapter 61 Scout vs Mage Part 1
Lucia looked upon the newly constructed arena and dummies made of mud, dirt, in approval. The wolf leader stood tall as he accepted the silent praise from the witch hat. A moment later, a wolf approached them, announcing the completion of the arena. The surrounding area was cleared of any obstacles, such as grass, weeds, and rocks, which were pushed deeper into the forest using the wolves' innate power over nature. The softer materials, such as grass, weeds, and fallen leaves, were set aside for the contestants to use.
The area had been cleared, flattened, and prepared for the demonstration, with apparent care taken to avoid damaging the environment. The two individuals, one a witch hat and the other a proud wolf, strolled to the spectator area, bereft of protrusion. They watched as the wolves prepared to demonstrate their abilities. Lucia received a general explanation of the wolves' skills and nodded thoughtfully, even though she did not fully understand how the skills performed.

From what she could understand, the wolves' abilities seemed comparable to human elemental magic but were unique in that they didn't require incantations or visualization. The wolf leader explained that, for their kind, the magic they could use was instinctual. The leader theorized that this was due to their attunement and close connection with nature, which humans had moved away from. Lucia was excited to learn this; it explained why some people who didn't initially have the potential to use magic were able to develop it later in life when met with dangerous situations.
Lucia was confused by the concept she thought of, as she couldn't recall hearing of it before. She didn't remember ever coming across that idea in her extensive library or gaining any knowledge about it. Lucia pondered on it for a while before the wolves ahead began to howl, indicating the start of the match.
A sudden gust of wind materialized above the wolf, bringing forth the grass and leaves set aside in neat stacks, causing the gale to become deadly sharp. The razor-sharp wind then slowly started tilting towards the opponent. The opponent did the same magic, although it was much calmer and steadier. Instead of the wind above the wolf, it was on the ground, primed near their hind legs. The grass and leaves on their side of the arena began to flow towards the calm and steady winds, gently covering the wind like a shell.
