Chapter 79 The Slab
As Aleshia reached that conclusion, the world shifted around her instantly. She closed her eyes as a flash of light entered her vision. When her eyes adjusted to the new light, she slowly opened them. What she saw in front of her baffled her. The previous luminescence Lucia controlled was now right in front of her! As her brain registered the imminent danger, Aleshia hurriedly dashed to her left, fleeing from the perceived threat. When she reoriented herself, she realized that what she had feared was only an afterimage or energy trail of the actual danger. Relieved, Aleshia fell back on the ground, her tensed muscles relaxing as she realized that the imminent danger she had thought was near would not come.
While she lay on the ground, she wondered why things had suddenly changed. She got back up on her feet. Looking around, she noticed Lucia was only a few steps ahead of her, and the wolf was twice that distance away. "Everything is still," she remarked. Then, her gaze landed on the energy trail that she had sensed. It appeared to be a long beam of thin, light energy with a core resembling a mass of daggers. "So that was what made me react so reflexively. I understand now," she said, intrigued. She then looked past the energy trail to the direction the daggers were facing. Although she couldn't see anything, she could feel something. Suddenly, she got an idea of what it was. "If I'm here and they are there... Then that means they're firing at the weird slab that gave off that ominous presence."

Aleshia walked over to the ominous slab and began peering at it. She didn't find anything strange other than it just being a floating slab in her vision, but as she began to use her other senses, she felt the previous aura that she felt on the hill. When she explored with her senses, she could feel that the slab was emitting an otherworldly energy, which was both captivating and unsettling at the same time.
Aleshia hesitated before reaching out her hand to touch the surface. When her fingertips made contact, they went right through the slab. At that moment, as the slab crossed with her hand, Aleshia was engulfed by a surge of sensations that seemed to try to convey some images. Aleshia tried to figure out what the sensations were trying to show her, but they were too convoluted to understand.
