Chapter 99 Silhouette
Dahdin kept digging, reaching the surface, running toward the light, and then digging again. After tirelessly burrowing underground, he finally began to calm down. Once he felt at ease, he could finally see clearly before him again, free from the fog of terror that had clouded his mind.
With newfound stability in his mind, he was finally able to take a look around. His eye caught some subtle differences from when he had last been conscious. The ground before him was brighter and wasn’t cloaked in as dark a shadow as he remembered. Looking toward the light he had been chasing and burrowing under in panic; he noticed it appeared much brighter and more sizeable now.
Remembering the reason for his panic, Dahdin glanced behind him to see if the mysterious phenomenon he had been fleeing had used this brief pause to catch up. When his gaze turned to look back at the hole he had dug. The hole remained dug out, with its edges bearing many claw marks. The area around the hole was clearly surrounded by mounds of dirt that had been haphazardly thrown about, reflecting his instinctual fear.

Dahdin took a deep breath, calming himself as he felt a moment of safety. With a sense of security, he began walking toward the light. As he approached the light, he noticed small changes around the space. A silhouette was now visible, resembling the land that Dahdin remembered from before somehow entering this space. Before long, he reached the ray of light again. With a quick glance, he confirmed that the light had become brighter and expanded.
Although not much had changed within the light other than its brightening, examining it sparked an idea in his mind. He then devised a plan to escape the dark space. He intended to keep digging until the light brightened enough to illuminate the entire space, as it seemed to be hindering the mysterious phenomenon from advancing.
With that plan in mind, Dahdin began digging again. This time, without the panic that had consumed him before. He continued to dig endlessly, and after an indeterminate amount of time, the once-dark room gradually filled with light, radiating from what had initially been just a thin ray.
When Dahdin looked around at the space to check his new surroundings, he was surprised to see how much brighter it had become. He could almost see colors from the ground he walked on.
