He stepped outside to check on his friend. When he saw Max, Shadow knelt down next to him.
Max was sitting cross legged, slowly eating his berries. Shadow turned to face him. "Are you alright, Max?"
His friend didn't reply.
Shadow chuckled as he was reminded of how he was to them when they first met.

"Do you want to talk about it?"
"No." Max finally replied. "I don't really."
Shadow sighs. "I can understand where you're coming from, we all can." He said calmly. "It's a lot to take in, I know. Not only being the child of someone so evil, your adoptive mother rejecting you, your brother no longer here? You've definitely had it rough, buddy."
Max finished the last of his berries, then looked directly at Shadow.
Shadow changed the subject. "Where will today's hunt be this time?"
Max shrugged. "You're the expert, Shadow."
He smiled. "I suggest we hunt in the Valley."
