Chapter 19: Howl (part 3)

When Zack caught up with Max, he noticed that his friend was crouching on the ground, his hair hanging past his ears as he faced the ground.

"Max? What's wrong?" He asked him as he picked up a small log.

"I must've been a real asshole to him." His friend said.

Zack didn't know how to answer him, all he could do was agree. "Yeah."

Max continued to stare at the ground. "You should've stopped me..."

"I should've....but it's not my responsibility to keep you in line every time you do this."

Max glared at him. "Why?"

Zack was about to argue with him, but held his tongue and sighed. "Look, I'm going to help you take some wood back to camp....but I'm not saying anything more."

Max's face flushed with anger. He then ended up calming down, and nodded his head. "Okay." He agreed.

Zack nodded his head and continued to work.

After a while, Max and Zack gathered enough for a good bonfire.
