Chapter 9: Lies!
(*Streya’s POV.*)
Kana lied to me! Well, okay, to be fair, she didn’t lie to me directly. Since I didn’t feel any pain. But why the hell am I in the hospital? I don’t feel sick, or anything…
I looked around the room, and my gaze quickly ended up on a woman. She was sitting down on a chair, right next to my hospital bed. It was Ciri.
Ciri: “Are you awake?” She asked.
Streya: “Ciri? What happened to me?” I ask with a confused tone.
Ciri: “You were shuttled to the hospital, because you had a bad reaction to the Knowledge Stimulant.” She answered.
Streya: “A bad reaction? Does that mean that it won’t work for me?” I ask.
Ciri: “For our kind, and humans, most of the time, our brains are almost the exact same. In certain cases, such as yours, that isn’t the case at all.” She replied.
Streya: “Is there a fix for it?” I ask with a curious tone.
Ciri: “Yes, it requires a brain scan, which was already done for you. Luckily, you’re a match for other cases, so no new Knowledge Stimulants need to be produced.” She answered.
Streya: “Oh, that’s good then. Were there any lasting side effects?” I ask.
Ciri: “None at all. You can check out right now if you wish.” She proposed.
I nodded my head and got up from the hospital bed. I then followed Ciri out of the hospital. I wanted to pay for my treatment and stay, but Ciri said that the government had already paid for it.
This wasn’t special treatment either. It is the government’s fault for not realizing that the common Knowledge Stimulants, won’t work on me at all. If this happened to someone else, they would also be compensated as well.
Ciri paid for a shuttle trip back to my apartment. Well, that was what she planned to do. I suggested that I would prefer to go back to the academy, rather than go home. She begrudgingly let me have my way, and let me off at Briar.
A short trip back to my classroom later, Kana was waiting for me. Actually, it was just one of the bodies that she uses. While on the shuttle, I did some research about true AI’s.
They use a similar PC embedded in the brain of their bodies, to control them. Their bodies are grown in a lab, similar to N 85. Which means that they’re flesh and blood. Unlike humans, the vampires see them as equals, so they have full rights just like them. Anyway, back to Kana, she had a sad look on her face.
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
Kana: “Miss Streya, I am deeply sorry for what happened.” She said with a bow.
Streya: “It’s fine, it wasn’t your fault anyway.” I reply with a shrug.
Kana: “No, it was directly my fault. It is standard procedure to run a brain scan before administrating any Knowledge Stimulants. I skipped that step, and just assumed that the common ones would work for you.” She said with a remorseful tone.
Streya: “I wasn’t hurt at all, so it’s fine. Don’t worry about it.” I say with a shrug.
Kana: “Unfortunately, it isn’t that simple. Luckily for me, this was kept under the table. Though, if you decide to sue me, the truth will come out, and I will lose my teaching license.” She said with a serious tone.
Streya: “It was a simple mistake, and I wasn’t injured. So I have no intention of suing you.” I assured her.
Kana: “Even still, I cannot say that I don’t have the desire to cause an accident that would kill you so that my way of life isn’t ruined.” She said with a sigh.
Streya: “Why would you admit to that?” I ask with a raised eyebrow.
Kana: “It is a simple fact, which is why I cannot be your teacher anymore. I already lost that right, and I do not wish to cause you any harm.” She said with a sad tone.
Streya: “Oh, who will be your replacement?” I ask.
Kana: “Miss Jean will be your new teacher, and she will be here in a few minutes. Once again, I am sorry that this happened, I wish you a happy future.” She said with a bow before leaving the classroom.
Hm… That kinda sucks that she had to stop being my teacher. Though, with the way that she said that she might cause me harm, was kinda scary as well…
A few minutes of waiting later, a woman, who I assume is Jean, came into the room. Rather than a teacher, she looked like a super model. With dark red hair, that went down to her waist.
She wasn’t wearing something that a teacher would normally wear either. Instead, she was wearing a dark red dress, that showed off her figure greatly. I think that it even made her breasts look a little bit bigger as well…
Jean: “Are you Miss Streya?” She asked.
Streya: “Yes, I am. Are you Jean?” I ask.
Jean: “That I am. I have already been informed of all the information about you, so there won’t be any complications from now on.” She reassured.
Streya: “Okay, it’s good that you’re informed.” I reply with a smile.
Similar to yesterday, I lie down on the reclined seat. Jean then told me that for today’s lesson, we would be learning about math. I worked in supply chain back in my old job, so I assumed that I would ace this lesson. Once the Knowledge Stimulant hit my brain, I was greatly disoriented…
Jean: “Please relax, Streya. It will take a few minutes for you to get used to the Knowledge Stimulant, just close your eyes for a while.” She suggested.
Going with her advice, I closed my eyes. Oddly, while I waited to get used to the Knowledge Stimulant, Jean rubbed my head. I was a little confused, but it didn’t feel like she was doing it in an intimate manner, and rather felt like she was acting like my mother… It took a total of ten minutes for me to get used to them.
Streya: “I think that I am fine now. But why did you rub my head?” I ask with a curious tone.
Jean: “Ah, sorry about that. You just reminded me of my girlfriend, so I did that without noticing.” She said with an embarrassed expression and tone.
Streya: “I see… Well, shall we continue with the lesson now?” I ask.
Jean: “Right away. Although it might seem weird, we should start with the basics first, just as a refresher.” She proposed.
I went along with her idea, and we started with addition and subtraction. Yeah, that kinda math is kid stuff, I know.
Since it was so basic, it didn’t take long for me to clear all of the standard sections of math. It took an hour, but we eventually got passed all of the math that I knew of.
Which meant that it was time for me to be highly confused… This dimension has so many different types of math, that I was at a loss…
