Chapter 8: First "Class" Day.

Chapter 8: First "Class" Day.

(*Streya’s POV.*)

As I begin to walk out of my house apartment thingy, I think about a new problem… Sure, I could walk. But I want to fly again! I know that it is a waste, since Briar is only a thirty-minute walk away, but I really, really want to fly on the shuttle again…

Sin: “Renting one to go to the academy every day, is not advised. You’re supported by the government, and your allowance per month, is 100,000 C.” She said.

Why does it sometimes feel like she can read my mind? Though, there are times when it doesn’t feel like that. I think that she can just guess what I am thinking, via context clues, and what the hormones in my body are like.

Streya: “Only 100,000? Maybe I should have threatened them more… It’s not like I told them all of their weaknesses, after all.” I say with a thinking pose.

Sin: “100,000 C per month, is a lot of allowance, Streya.” She said with a stern tone.

Streya: “Wait, C? Not USD? How much is one C worth when compared to USD?” I ask.

Sin: “USD? Streya, no such currency exists. All of the world has been using Credits, since at least 1985.” She replied.

Streya: “Okay, so how much can one credit buy you? Back in my dimension, the average price for a car, was around $50,000 USD, if you round it up.” I ask again.

Sin: “Car? Do you mean the vehicles that drove on roads and land? If so, those are considered antiques.” She said.

Streya: “So, assuming that they weren’t antiques, how much credits would it cost to buy them? Wait… you have to account for inflation as well.” I ask with a sigh.

Sin: “Inflation is something that was long since solved, so don’t worry. On average then, a car would cost you 1000 Credits to purchase.” She answered.

Only that little!? Okay, I am so sorry for complaining! Thank you vampire government for giving me the equivalent of $5,000,000 USD a month as an allowance!

Streya: “Wait, then I can surely just purchase a shuttle, right?” I ask with an excited tone.

Sin: “No.” She replied.

Streya: “Why not?” I ask with a head tilt.

Sin: “You need to be 21 years of age, to be able to buy one. Sorry, Streya.” She answered with a remorseful tone.

Damn restrictions! It’s not like you even fly it! They should just not give you control of it until you’re 21! Fine… walking it is then. With a sigh, I go on my merry way.

Will I get lost in this new world? NO! There are signs pointing in the right direction. Getting lost in this world is almost impossible…

Come to think of it, I guess that it’s a miracle that so many good laws exist for humans in this world. Sure, it isn’t completely fair, with the whole basically slavery thing, but it is better than nothing.

The vampires could have easily just kept us all as cattle, rather than give some of us freedom, and the ones that they take as their wives, are treated well.

No, really. From what I’ve read up on, even if a vampire commits a slight abuse, they will be heavily charged. And what’s worse, is that they will be almost completely ostracized from society.

No one, not even other vampires, wants to associate with someone who would abuse their wife, after all.

Without realizing it, I ended up at Briar. That walk didn’t feel like thirty minutes at all… I guess that I need to get used to this body, huh?

I forgot to mention, but to get out of my apartment, I had to scan my ID at the gate. This academy had a similar gate as well. Granted, both gates weren’t high at all, and you can easily climb them.

But there are warning holographic signs on both gates, that say that trespassing on and over the gate, or any of the surrounding fence, will have you shocked.

And not a normal shock at all. The warning clearly states that for humans, the shock will send them to the emergency room, and for vampires, the shock is greater, and will also send them to the emergency room.

Yeah, I would say that trespassing is a dead crime in this world. I mean, I would at least hope it is a dead crime… Shaking my head, I scanned my ID on the little podium thingy in front of it, and then the gate opened up for me.

Without me noticing, there was a blond hair, OL-looking lady, seemingly waiting for me, on the other side. Her hair went down to her shoulders, and she wore cute red frame glasses. Yup, she is a teacher, no doubt.

Teacher: “Hello, I assume that you’re Miss Streya? I am Kana, and will be your teacher for all of your classes.” She said with a bright tone.

Streya: “Nice to meet you, Kana.” I reply with a smile.

Kana: “If you follow me, I shall guide you to your classroom.” She said, before starting to guide me.

The way she said, classroom, is kinda funny. Since it will be my only classroom. Rather than having to switch, since Kana will be my only teacher.

We then came to an elevator, and went up to the eighth floor. After walking for a few more minutes, we came to a large room. Um… Yeah, there are two couches, and the room is really big for no reason.

I mean, one of the couches had a side that was leaned up. Sorta like how a psychologist has their patients lie down, as they consult with them. Oh, so that is how teaching is done these days? Cool. But why was the room so big?…

Kana: “It was noted that you will lack some common sense. That isn’t something that we will be teaching, mind you. And this room is big since I will be teaching you how to protect yourself.” She explained.

Streya: “You’ll teach me how to protect myself? I thought that I was going to learn about lots of subjects?” I ask with an unsure tone.

Kana: “You will. But what use is it for you to know all of the information that I will teach you, if you cannot defend yourself?” She replied.

Streya: “I should mention that I am not at full health just yet.” I say with a nervous tone.

Kana: “Of course. I will not teach anything physical until you have returned to full health. You have been through a lot, after all.” She reassured.

She gestured for me to lie down on the reclined couch, and I did. She then went over to the wall, messed with a display for a bit, and then a syringe came out from the wall. That’s great and all, but I have a fear of needles…

Streya: “Um… I really, really hate needles…” I say with a nervous tone.

Kana: “There is no need to fear this kind of needle. It is so tiny, that you will not feel it at all. The downside is that it will take a minute to give you the full dose.” She said with a warm tone.

Streya: “Really?” I ask.

Kana: “Yes, I swear that it will not hurt. Even if you move around, the needle will flex with you. And no pain will be given to you at all.” She repeated.

She even showed off how flexible the needle was, as she easily pulled it back and forth. I gave her a nod, and then she stabbed me with the needle.

To her credit, it didn’t hurt at all. Not even a little pinch. Hooray for this sci-fi dimension! As I could feel whatever is in the syringe enter my body, I got oddly very sleepy. And when I woke up, I was in a hospital bed…
