Chapter 35: Crazy Discovery!

(*Streya’s POV.*)

Slowly, Reina and I planned out when we wanted to have our wedding. Oddly, it is more highly anticipated than Miki and Ciri’s wedding was. If the hype from social media is anything to go by…

One day, while I was just about to get done with work for the day, Ciri contacted me out of the blue. As the workday was almost over, I didn’t really mind, so I just picked up her call right away.

Ciri: “Streya, would you like to go visit an odd site with me?” She asked.

Streya: “I will need more information than that, Ciri.” I reply.

Ciri: “Ah, right, sorry. I am just too excited! You see, we have found some ancient ritual site.” She said with an excited tone.

Streya: “Ritual site?” I ask with a head tilt.

Ciri: “Well, you see, magic exists in this world, but no one uses it anymore. The last known use of it, was well over a thousand years ago.” She explained.

Streya: “So the government found a magic ritual site that is at the very least over a thousand years old?” I reply.

Ciri: “Correct! Do you want to visit it with me?” She proposed.

Streya: “I guess? Reina will be busy all week, so I don’t really have time to spend with her…” I reply.

Ciri: “Great! I am already outside your building. Just come on out, and then we can go. Ah, I already told Reina about this.” She said with an excited tone.

Streya: “…”

Did Ciri just assume that I would agree with going with her? She even went ahead and told my wife that she was borrowing me for the rest of the day… Oh well. I needed a break regardless. Going somewhere fun with my friend, doesn’t sound all too bad in the end.

Thirty minutes later, I left my office, and I headed down to the shuttle parking. Ciri was waiting in her shuttle, but it was a different one than from before. This shuttle looked to be on the same level as Reina and I’s shuttle. I guess I found out what she spend some of that bribe money on…

Streya: “Was this all an elaborate scheme to show off your new shuttle to me, Ciri?” I ask with a sigh.

Ciri: “No? Oh, right… I completely forgot to gloat about my new shuttle… Eh, whatever! This ritual site is far more interesting!” She replied.

Before I could ask anything more, Ciri quickly got the shuttle up in the air, and fucking floored it… I didn’t even know that shuttles could go this fast… Looking at the speed on the shuttle display, we were fucking going 5,000MPH…

Ciri: “Surprised? Government officials don’t have any limits on the speed of their shuttles.” She said with a smug tone.

Streya: “Keep being smug, and then I will cancel the lifetime supply of candy that I was planning giving you.” I say with a slightly annoyed tone.

Ciri: “Hah! What a funny joke! Oh… You aren’t joking…” She said with a nervous tone.

Streya: “Yeah, it’s a late wedding present.” I reply with a shrug.

Ciri: “I will greatly accept! Miki can’t get enough of your candy.” She said with a happy tone.

Streya: “I know, she constantly tells me how much she loves it. By the way, you totally missed my joke.” I say with a sigh.

Ciri: “What was your joke?” She asked with a head tilt.

Streya: “I said that I would send you two a life time supply, but we’re immortal.” I reply with a laugh.

Ciri: “…You don’t even have kids yet, and you’re already making mom jokes?” She said with a sigh.

Streya: “…”

Ciri: “Okay, it is somewhat funny, I admit.” She said with a giggle.

Streya: “Ah, I am glad that you like my jokes.” I reply with a smile.

Just ignore the fact that I showed her my PC, and had my finger hovered over the cancel order button for the shipment of candy that I plan to send them. That totally had nothing to do with her laughing at my joke. Nothing at all…

The ritual location was in the middle of fucking nowhere. It should be mentioned, but most of the land in this world is untamed and natural. Which is another reason why the climate here is perfect. Not counting how they basically have full control of it regardless…

For the rest of the trip, Ciri and I just watched various movies. Of course, I made sure to find ones that didn’t have sex in them. Which was far easier said than actually done… About five hours later, we arrived. Once we landed, some was very, very off…

Ciri: “Where did everyone go?” She asked with a concerned tone.

Streya: “On lunch, maybe?” I propose.

Ciri: “Streya, there should be over a hundred people here researching this site…” She explained.

Streya: “I have a feeling that we should just leave, then.” I say with a nervous tone.

Ciri: “I agree… But we should at least look around for a bit.” She denied.

Though I kinda didn’t want to explore this creepy place, I couldn’t just leave Ciri here by herself. What if she also went missing, and then I couldn’t see her ever again? I would hate losing my friend…

After finding nothing on the outside of the ritual site, we decided to head into a very odd and old building. Inside the building was a magical circle painted on the floor. Despite this building being thousands of years old, the magical circle looked like it was just recently painted…

Ciri: “This makes no sense… What happened to the research team?” She said with a thinking pose.

While Ciri was lost in thought, I explored the place further. In the middle of the magical circle, was some kind of weird contraption I went to pick it up, but then it just poked me, which hurt somewhat. I didn’t think much of it.

Streya: “Fuck, that hurt…” I say with a groan.

Ciri: “What happened?” She asked with a concerned tone.

Streya: “This weird thing poked my finger.” I answer.

As Ciri looked at my finger, a drop of blood from my finger dripped down onto the floor, directly onto the magical circle. All of a sudden, there was an amazingly bright flash of light. When the light was gone, Ciri and I were in a completely different place. Even worse, I was sure that this wasn’t the same dimension…
