Ada and John achieved their task of retrieving Serena and returned to the Whitehouse. Some time had passed since Serena was rendered unconscious by John's chloroform, and she found herself lying in a bed after waking up.
"Ugh, where...am I?" Serena muttered. She sat up, her eyes barely open. She glanced over at the natural light coming through the open windows, which caused her to flinch and fully woke her. "Mmm...this place doesn't look like my home. It's too expensive-looking."
Serena's eyes scanned the room and perceived the midnight black nightstands with designer lamps, a black closet with transparent glass that displayed luxurious clothing, crimson red parted curtains over the windows that complemented the white walls, a black horizontal bookshelf containing books and CDs, beautiful potted orchids to spruce up the interior, and other luxurious items like a flat-screen television.
These furniture and items were only natural to have in the White House.
As she gazed into this unfamiliar space with awe, the entrance suddenly flew open. Her gaze shifted to witness the one who brought her here entering - Ada Foster.
"Oh! You're awake!" Ada happily remarked. "How are you feeling!"
"M-Ms. President...What happened?" Still confused by the unfamiliar place she was in, Serena questioned. "The last thing I remembered was talking to you. Then something...came over my mouth, and everything went black."
"Oh, no need to worry," Ada assured. "You must have been exhausted from working as a nurse, so you passed out. I carried you here to sleep in a room in my White House."
"O-Oh, I passed out from exhaustion," Serena remarked. "I see. I guess I was pretty tired."
Ada's smile became slightly devious as Serena agreed with Ada's 'guess' as to why she fell unconscious. She slowly approached and sat in an armchair to rest her legs. Like the elegant woman Ada is, she kept her legs folded.
"Now, I know your thoughts may be all over the place, but do you remember what I told you before you passed out?" Ada inquired.
"Um, you wanted me to cast aside everything...because you needed my help?"
"Exactly," Ada confirmed. "This may be hard for you since you just woke up, but do you remember Nathan Hayes?"
"N-Nathan...no..." Serena muttered. "It's not my fault..."
Ada watched Serena's confusion and nervousness at this unfamiliar place left her expression and morphed into discomfort at the mere question. Her past experiences with Nathan flooded her mind, causing her to shake her head.

"What's wrong, dear?" Ada questioned with a look of genuine concern. "Did something happen to you and him in the past? You can tell me anything, you know?"
"Nathan and I were good friends...back in university, but not anymore. I clearly remember the man who changed everything...his name was John Walker," Serena explained as she held her head down. "He threatened to kill my mother if I didn't accuse Nathan of raping me."
"I see. John Walker must have figured out that you and Nathan were close friends in university and thought you'd be perfect to ruin him," Ada 'deduced.' "How sad."
"I-I didn't want to do that to Nathan, though! I just wanted to save my mother!" Serena exclaimed as tears pooled in her eyes and began trickling down. "Y-You have to believe me, Ms. President--"
In an act of comfort, Ada hopped from her chair and wrapped her arms around the sorrow-filled Serena.
"You don't have to worry. It isn't your fault, dear," Ada assured. "You wanted to save your mother. There is nothing wrong with an empathetic heart like that."
"...Thank you."
"Don't you think Nathan's at fault here, though? He should have gone out of his way to find you and ask about your situation," Ada continued with an angered expression. "But instead, his heart became full of hate after you performed an act of saving your mother. Wasn't he supposed to be your friend!?"
"W-What?"
"I have met Nathan Hayes before, and I thought he was my friend, but he was just a selfish man turned criminal," Ada stated. "My heart hurts to hear another person hurt by his cruel nature."
"N-Nathan is selfish?" Serena questioned.
"You must realize it, my dear. Nathan has moved on from you and is enjoying life with another person," Ada explained. "He doesn't care about you. Lilith Ashley, does that ring a bell?"
"L-Lilith Ashley?" Serena repeated as she recalled Lilith in university. From the way she acted, Lilith was also in love with Nathan. Did he not care about me?
A sly smirk manifested on Ada's expression as she noticed Serena's wavering expression.
"Instead of living with a pang of unwarranted guilt, you should realize that the selfish Nathan was the cause of your suffering. Your mother would not have been threatened by John, and you wouldn't have to change universities if it weren't for Nathan," Ada explained. "I want to make Nathan pay for being such a horrible man, and I want you to follow me."
Serena took a few moments to process her thoughts before giving Ada a decisive answer.
"...You're right. Nathan should have understood that I wouldn't have done that to him under normal circumstances, but he moved on with his life with another girl," Serena muttered. "Whatever you need from me, Ms. President, I will help you. I want Nathan to suffer for abandoning me like that!"
Ada's smirk intensified into a delighted smile. She got what she wanted to hear from Serena.
"You made the right decision, dear. Letting go of the burden of guilt will free you, Serena," Ada remarked as she patted Serena on the head. "You have a crucial role in my plan of making Nathan pay for his sins, but I will have to teach you thoroughly. Nathan is not a stupid man, after all."
"I feel like a load that I've carried for a long time has been lifted off my chest, and it's all thanks to you, Ms. President," Serena expressed. "For some reason, you feel like an angel who came to save me, but in any case, I will fulfill the role you have in store for me."
"Fufu, I wouldn't say angel, my dear," Ada remarked. "The more accurate term for me...is a god."
