29-Raise Your Hands
I woke up with the alarm on my phone and got out of bed slowly. I didn't really need sleep physically, but it was good for me to rest mentally. I took a quick shower and got dressed before leaving the room.
Gwen was already awake and watching TV.
"On a day when there's no school, waking up early isn't really your thing, my eyes would have teared up," I said, chuckling.
Hearing my words, Gwen turned her head to look at me, with a smile on her face.
"My friends and I are having a graduation party today," she said.
I was surprised to hear that because Gwen had graduated a long time ago.
"Don't you think it's a bit late for a graduation party?" I asked.
"Time doesn't matter, I just want to distract myself a bit," Gwen replied.
When I heard her words, my smile faded. It seemed like my father's injury had affected her a lot. I took a credit card from my wallet and handed it to Gwen.
"If I hear that you spent this money on alcohol, I'll give you a good scolding," I said, and I patted her head.
Gwen never liked it when I patted her head since childhood. She pushed my hand away with an irritated expression and quietly said, "Thank you."
I withdrew my hand from her head and walked to the kitchen. I quickly prepared breakfast and started eating with Gwen.
"I went to the restaurant yesterday, and I didn't see you," Gwen said.
"I had an important business to attend to," I replied.
Gwen furrowed her brows when she heard my words.
"You're not getting involved in gang business again, are you, Derek? You've done that before, and it cost you an eye," Gwen said, with a worried expression on her face.
According to the memories of the previous owner of this body, he had secretly joined a gang without his father and sister knowing when he was around 18 and made good money, but a year later, in a fight, he nearly lost his eye. The scar on his eye was so severe that it still remained.
"Do you trust your brother?" I asked.
"I trust you, Derek, but I'm worried. You're making a lot of money, and nobody working at the restaurant earns that much," Gwen said.
"I've told you before, I have a high position at the restaurant, that's why I make a lot of money," I replied.
Gwen nodded when she heard my words and didn't say anything further. After we finished eating, I cleared the table and opened the door to leave.
"Are you going to the restaurant?" Gwen asked.
When I heard this question, I sighed in defeat. After giving Gwen a brief look, I left without answering.
Once outside, I walked down a side street and transformed my body into mist, flying towards the location of the warehouse. My speed increased significantly in mist form, especially when I was a fire giant.
I entered from the top of the warehouse and reformed my body. John was sleeping in a chair inside.
"Aaron!" I shouted.
Hearing me yell, Aaron quickly came out of the hidden room and joined me.
Before I could say anything, Aaron began to speak.
"The gang leaders have gathered the members and taken control again. The looted equipment has been distributed equally to the three regions," Aaron said.
I nodded at Aaron's words and started thinking. After about ten seconds of contemplation, an idea came to my mind.
"Recruit all the skilled engineers in Brooklyn for the gang. You can offer them as much money as you want," I said.
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
When Aaron heard my words, he nodded and went into the hidden room to research the skilled engineers.
Aaron left, and I walked toward the chair where John was sleeping, shaking him to wake him up.
"Is it time?" he asked, still half asleep.
"Yes, I'm waiting for you outside," I said and walked towards the exit of the warehouse. John joined me shortly after, and we got into the car together.
"You've adapted to this world quite easily," I said, looking at him.
"It's almost the same as my old world. Actually, I didn't understand why you told me that this world is so dangerous," he said.
"You'll see in due time," I said with a smile and started the car.
The Hunter's base was about half an hour away from us, and it was larger than any of the Hunter bases we had cleared so far. We estimated there were about a hundred people in the Hunter's base, all armed. In addition to these hundred people, I expected a significant number of eagle robots as well. The Hunter base was located in an abandoned factory. The Hunters had set it up in this factory and placed an invisibility barrier around it.
When we arrived at the Hunter base, we got out of the car and looked at the abandoned factory. It appeared quite normal from the outside, but we knew this factory was anything but normal.
I drew my Chaos Blades and walked towards the factory. As I walked, I fueled the blades with my flames.
When I passed through the invisibility barrier, the sight behind it surprised me, even though I was prepared for it. There was nothing left of the old factory. The Hunters were everywhere in the factory, and there were as many eagle robots flying in the air as I couldn't count.
My precognition sent me a warning, and I quickly leaped to the right. Ten lightning arrows exploded at my previous location.
Without wasting any time, I decided to take down the archers first. The archers were on the roof of the factory. If I wanted to kill them, I had to get to the roof first.
After focusing for a moment, I turned my body into ash and flew to the factory's roof. When I appeared behind one of the archers, he looked at me in surprise. I swung the blade in my right hand and cut him in half.
As I killed this archer, the archers around me and the eagle robots in the sky noticed me. I didn't have time to turn my body into ash, so I ran towards the nearest archer.
When I reached the archer, he tried to hit me with the handle of his crossbow. I cut the hand holding the crossbow, and then I stabbed him in the chest.
Meanwhile, about ten robot eagles were rushing towards me. I turned my Chaos Blades into tattoos and pointed my hands at them.
As I directed my hands toward them, they all froze in place and amalgamated under my control, crushing into a metal heap.
Metal heap towards a Hunter who was about to shoot an arrow at me. The Hunter jumped to the side to dodge the metal heap, but I had already thrown my Chaos Blades at him.
The chains of the blades extended, and I decapitated the Hunter. After a spin of my Chaos Blades around me, I hurled them at another archer.
The Hunter tried to hide behind a boulder when he saw the blade coming towards him, but the blade cleaved through the stone, splitting it in half along with the Hunter.
Every time I threw the Chaos Blades, at least one Hunter died. When I had killed all the archers, one of the Hunters in the center of the base got into the helicopter and took off, opening fire at me.
The bullets fired by the helicopter had a high caliber and were causing pain. I sprinted towards the helicopter in anger and leaped onto it. I clung to the front window of the helicopter by impaling my Chaos Blades into it.
I propelled myself upward and struck the helicopter's propellers, causing them to break. With the propeller shattered, the helicopter lost balance and began to plummet.
As the helicopter descended, I leaped towards a group of Hunters and threw my Chaos Blades downward from above. The blades were fueled by my flames and were burning.
The blades cleaved through a man, splitting him in two, and upon impact with the ground, they created a massive explosion of fire, killing all nearby Hunters and causing the factory's walls to crumble.
Among the collapsed walls was one of the factory's pillars, so after the collapse, the factory shook and tilted slightly.
I didn't pay any attention to this and continued to hurl my Chaos Blades. I captured any Hunter trying to escape with my telekinesis and killed them.
While I dealt with the crowded part of the factory, John was handling the Hunters at the back of the factory. He had killed quite a few Hunters, though not as many as I had.
I killed every approaching Hunter, and every time I killed one, another one attacked me. Approximately half an hour later, we had finally cleared the Hunter base.
It seems like the intensity of the battle had damaged the invisibility barrier, causing it to flicker and appear to have a limited remaining lifespan.
When I noticed this, I instructed John to retrieve the equipment, and I went towards the center of the base, kneeling down on one knee, and made contact with the ground. I started melting the ground with both of my hands, and the stones slowly began to liquefy and spread around. During this process, the invisibility barrier collapsed, and from that moment on, everyone passing by could see me. I continued melting the factory without paying attention to them. About ten minutes later, the factory had collapsed and melted to a great extent.
Suddenly, the sirens of approaching police cars were heard behind me.
"Raise your hands and don't make any sudden movements," a police officer said, aiming a weapon at me and approaching cautiously.
"Back off!" I said and waved my hand. The police officer was sent flying at high speed, nearly crashing into a car, but a spider-web caught him.
The one who had caught the police officer was Spider Woman. After gently placing the police officer on the ground, she leaped onto a nearby lamppost and yelled at me.
"Raise your hands and surrender," Spider Woman said.
When I heard this, I couldn't help but laugh.
"You're mocking me, just like the police officer did a moment ago," I said with a chuckle.
"Right... Oh well," she said and charged at me.
I raised my hand while Spider Woman was suspended in the air, causing her to stay in place. I moved her a bit closer to me.
"Get out of here, kid, or you'll get hurt," I said and gestured my hand to the right. When I flicked my hand, she flew and crashed into the wall of a nearby building.
After tossing Spider Woman, I turned the remaining part of the factory into magma and stood up.
I was about to walk away when I heard a shouting from behind.
"You're not going anywhere! You'll pay for what you've done!" yelled Spider Woman, charging at me once more.
"You'll never give up, will you?" I muttered, and just as she was about to strike me, I grabbed her by the neck. She struggled to break free, but I didn't let go.
"The only reason I'm not killing you is that my sister likes you, so don't push your luck," I said and flung her away.
Spider Woman got up and was about to attack me again, but this time, I waved at her and turned into mist, quickly getting away from there.

Gwen, "I'll catch you one day!" she said. Her mask concealed her face, but her eyes revealed intense anger.
As she said this, her phone began to ring. When she checked the caller, she saw that it was Miles. She answered and asked, "What's the matter, Miles?"
Miles replied in a hushed tone, "I found Kraven. I'll send you the location immediately; come over."
After Miles said this, he hung up the phone. Gwen quickly opened the location he sent her and hurried to the destination.
The masked man could wait. First, she needed to deal with the Hunters.
