13-The Boys

13-The Boys

I entered my room after Gwen's birthday and lay on my bed, thinking about today.

After a little chat with Miles, I can say he's a good kid. Miles was quite shy.

From what I observed, Gwen seemed to enjoy talking to him. Despite being beautiful and friendly, Gwen had very few friends, and she didn't talk as comfortably with any of her friends as she did with him.

It was a good thing that Gwen had a close friend.

I shook my head to clear my thoughts. Today, I was going to use the new arrival point, and I had to be serious because I didn't know where it would take me.

It was already night, so Gwen and my dad were asleep.

I opened the system window and selected "The Boys" from the arrival points.

I felt my stomach churn and my head spin. When I looked at my hand, I saw it turn to dust.

After my hand turned to dust, half of my arm and torso turned to dust, and it continued to spread rapidly.

No matter how hard I tried to stay calm, a growing fear built up inside me. After my entire body turned to dust, I found myself in the infinite darkness.

This darkness resembled the darkness I had been waiting in for a long time before being reborn. While standing here, I involuntarily felt restless.

After a short while, the darkness around me dispersed, revealing a ceiling made of rotten planks.

I quickly got up from the ground and examined my surroundings. I was in a rotten wooden house. There was a tube TV in front of me, and I could hear human voices coming from the room ahead.

The language they were speaking seemed familiar to me, but I couldn't understand it. Quietly, I examined my body.

It seemed like my body and equipment were still with me.

I was suddenly presented with a system notification, and I couldn't help but get excited as I read it.

A red mist appeared in my field of vision, pointing me in a direction.

*I guess it's showing me the location of my prey,* I thought.

To complete the mission, I needed to hunt fifteen people, and as a result, I would gain a new template.

My template was quite powerful but lacked versatility. Having a new template would make me much more versatile.

I silently got up from the chair I was sitting on and walked toward the room where the sounds were coming from. The door to the room with the sounds was slightly ajar, and there was light inside.

I quietly walked up to the door to observe the inside through the gap and carefully examined the room.

The room was similar to the decaying walls of the room I woke up in. There were five people in the room, each carrying heavy machine guns.

These five people were chatting and laughing, and from their attire, I understood that they were not soldiers.

*Are they terrorists?* I thought.

The reason for this thought was that the men had no order whatsoever. I could hear a high level of noise from outside the house, which made me think I was in a camp.

I withdrew my eyes from the gap in the door and took a step back. When I took a step back, I accidentally kicked a glass on the floor, making a sound.

Inside, the men, although they were talking loudly, heard the sound of the glass very easily.

They quickly got up from their chairs and grabbed their weapons. Without giving them a chance to regroup, I kicked the door and ran towards the man closest to me.

When the men saw me, their faces turned pale, as if they had seen a ghost. They clearly weren't expecting to see me. I didn't know the reason for this, and I didn't care.

Before they could recover from the shock of seeing me, I grabbed one man by the neck and threw him onto another man.

While the man was in the air, I swiftly took the combat knife from his belt with a quick hand motion and threw it at a man who had already recovered from the shock. The knife moved swiftly, entering the man's head, not losing momentum as it exited from the back of his head, embedding itself in the decaying wall.

The two men standing pointed their guns at me and started firing. When the bullets made contact with my skin, they bent and fell to the ground.

When the men ran out of bullets, they looked at me in astonishment and then drew their combat knives from their belts, rushing towards me.

As the two men ran towards me, I smiled and delivered a powerful hook to the first one to reach me.

The force of the punch shattered the man's skull, killing him. Before the dead man even hit the ground, I took the knife from his hand and stabbed it into the throat of the other man.

I threw the knife in my hand at one of the men who had just gotten up from the ground. The knife pierced his heart, not losing momentum as it exited from the back of his head, embedding itself in the decaying wall.

As I continued to throw myself into the fray, the battle continued for a few minutes, and the surroundings were already filled with corpses. About ten of the men had managed to escape, and I didn't really care.

There was a fearless man standing in front of me now, looking at me with determination. He held a knife identical to mine. Of course, my knife had dulled a bit after all the killing.

The man ran toward me with the knife tightly gripped in his hand. When I saw this, I smiled with amusement. I couldn't tell if the man in front of me was brave or just plain foolish.

As the man got closer to me, he jumped and tried to stab his knife into my throat. I didn't make a move to block the knife; I simply waited for it to touch me.

When the knife made contact with my throat, it produced the sound of metal meeting metal, and the tip of the knife broke.

The man looked at me in astonishment after this happened.

"It seems he's a fool," I said.

I had just survived a hail of bullets without a scratch, and this man genuinely thought he could wound me with a knife.

"Pitiful," I said and thrust my knife into the man's intestines, pulling it upward. When a large wound opened from his abdomen to his chest, the man moaned in pain and fell to the ground.

What surprised me was that the man calmed down just two seconds after experiencing pain. I used my foot to push him and make him show me the wound I had opened.

The wound I had opened was healing at an incredible speed. Seeing this, I gained a better understanding of this world.

I lifted my leg and crushed the man's head on the ground. "No matter how well you can heal, you can't recover without a head," I said.

When I looked at the red mist that showed me the location of my prey, I realized that it had moved away during the battle.

"No matter how hard you try, you can't escape from me."
