Chapter 195

After Rad's speech, people around began to look at them with curiosity on their faces. Living in the second area was peaceful and routine, so anything outside the usual would attract attention from the residents.

Realizing what was happening, Rad's attitude changed as he began to look at his surroundings.

"Where am I? This is not my room. My memory is not what it had been." He calmly said while staring at the sky.

Seeing how the old man was acting now, Xan couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.

'Is this man serious? Everyone says he is senile and all those things, but he had been talking perfectly fine until people began to look at us.' Xan thought.

As if reading the boy's mind, Rad turned and walked a few steps before stopping.

"Young man, where was the residential zone?" he asked.

"What? The residential zone? It's that way." Xan replied while pointing in that direction.

As soon as he heard that, Rad turned toward Xan, and while looking directly into his eyes, he whispered.

"Thanks for the help, young man. I have memory problems, so I need to get my diary, where I have written down some of my cultivation techniques so I can cultivate."

Before Xan could say anything, Rad turned again and walked away at a speed that looked impossible for someone using a walking stick.

'What is the deal with that guy? Is he suggesting that I steal his diary? Or is he as senile as everyone says?' Xan wondered.

Not knowing what to do, he returned to his room before Blorg and the other bullies returned to kick his ass again.

Multiple zones constituted the second area. Because its residents didn't need to work to sustain themselves, even though there was a workshop and field, they were small as they only used them to practice some hobby or to pass the time.

In exchange, their residential zone was much bigger than the one in the outer area, with each room having its living room, kitchen and bathroom. A place like that could accommodate two or three people comfortably.

Xan saw his mother's maps hanging on the wall when he entered his living room.

In her youth, his mother had been an explorer and cartographer, an unusual office in the Guburg Tribe. Even though her cultivation was low, she participated in quite a few expeditions, some even taking place in the unexplored lands of Eden.

Her job was to help the first group of explorers to find valuable resources for the Guburg Houses to exploit. They would enter an unexplored area, evaluate if it was conquering it, and then create a rough map for the main force to use.

She would take back a new map from each of her missions to hang on the wall, and it will be after one of those missions that she met his father.

After she retreated from a mountain that had become an air-elemental-region, her team met with the group that would take care of clearing that region.

The leader of that group had been the heir of the Yellow Blood Family, Ceol Yellow Blood, and in no time, he took notice of his mother, making her his lover.

A succession of events later brought about the birth of Xan, who was now the first heir's son. Sadly, Ceol already had a wife, making Xan his bastard son.

Even though the first years of his life went by without any problem, after the age of seven, the missions where his mother was assigned became gradually more difficult, to the point where one day, her group didn't return.

After that moment, his father cut all connections with him, never meeting with him again and focusing entirely on his legitimate children, one of them being Blorg, the leader of the kids that bullied him.

Now, the only things left from his mother were her maps and diaries. In those diaries, his mother told stories about mountains where the wind was so strong that you could use it to fly or vast plains half consumed by the fire where only ash and cinder remained from the previous vegetation.

Xan would do anything to be able to visit unique places such as those described in his mother's diary, and he hoped that a few years in the future, his father would allow him to leave the family to go on an adventure like those.

Until then, he should spend his time on something more practical, such as finding a way to avoid Blorg's beatings. And to do that, he would have to follow Rad's advice and learn how to cultivate.
