Chapter 121

Inside Axel's world, everything had lost its colors. The previously cheerful lands were now tainted with shades of grey as if everything were an old photograph.

A hundred meters below the ocean's surface, the body of a giant snake began to move, but not on its own. It was as if an invisible hand was dragging it.

The reptile's body traveled many kilometers on land and air until it reached a cavern with a stone archway in the middle. When it arrived, the color returned to the snake's body, which began to move violently, trying to release itself from the invisible grasp.

Its scales began to dry at a high pace, but before they could reach a critical stage, the beast opened its mouth, and a thick, clear liquid came out of it and began to cover its body.

Seconds later, the space between the archway began to shatter before an opening appeared as the snake finally managed to free itself.

But while looking at the archway, the beast feels its instincts shouting at it to get into that opening. The snake, being unable to resist, slid into the archway.

It continued advancing through the tunnel until it found a new opening.

As soon as it crossed the other entrance, its surroundings changed drastically.

Instead of the inside of a cavern, it was now on a floating island in the sky. It could see that its island wasn't the only one, as there were many others around it.

Below the islands, an infinite sea of clouds covered everything, while above was a clear blue sky.

Anyone that saw such an incredible landscape would stay still to look at it for a few seconds. But the snake didn't do anything like that. For it, the ocean was its home and habitat, which it had never left until now, so the idea of flying islands didn't seem that incredible.

Because of this, it began to search around for creatures soon after. Its instincts told it that there was something near it, and as one of the great predators of the sea, if there was anything alive, it should be prey.

It didn't take a lot of time for it to spot the two creatures, as on an island below its own, two humans were fighting to the death.

It was not the first time the snake had seen humans. In its early days, it had a few run-ins with a few humans that forced it to escape. On those occasions, the humans outnumbered the snake, while the snake was much weaker than it is now.

But now, everything is different. It has grown in strength and size, while the number of enemies has been lower than before. Not only that, it seemed like they would fight until one of them was dead, so the snake waited patiently until the fight was over.

What caught the beast's attention the most were the humans themselves, as they weren't like anything he had seen in the past.

While one was wearing black armor and swinging a sword bigger than his own body, the other was wearing a red robe that covered his whole body while swiftly moving to evade his enemy's attacks.

Each time the sword was about to touch the robbed figure, a shield of pink light appeared just in time to slow the attack, giving the man enough time to dodge before a pair of daggers made of the same light appeared in his hands.

Dagger after dagger, the robbed figure began to throw his weapons at the armored man. Even though they only managed to chip his armor, they still managed to force his enemy into a defensive position.

Suddenly, a loud bang resounded across the sky before the robed figure's arm was ripped off his body.

Seeing that, the snake began to inspect the surroundings, trying to find the source of the noise, and soon after found it on a nearby island.

A woman carrying a long metallic pipe tried to hide between the few rocks and bushes that grew on her island.

After identifying her as a potential threat, the snake decided to hunt her before the others.

As there were strong currents of wind that helped the islands stay floating, the snake neared the edge of the island before letting its body fall from it.

As its color scales began to change to match the color of the sky, the snake released large amounts of air-energy, which allowed it to glide toward the other island.

It was time for the hunt to begin.
