When the connection between the rift and his world ended, Axel opened his eyes and stood up.
"Good job, guys," said Axel with a smile.
"You too. I didn't expect you to have such a versatile world." Jacob said sincerely." I was ready to lose much more troops than we did, so the results are perfect for me."
"Yeah, it has been a good rift." said one of the customers.
"When are we going to receive our part of the loot?" the other customer asked, changing the topic of the conversation.
"Oh right, how are we going to split up the loot?" Axel asked while looking at Jacob.
"I'm in charge of that." George replied from a few meters away." You will send to my world whatever you have recovered from the rift, and after I inspect each item, we will decide who gets what."
After that, Axel and the owner of the summoner's world took turns connecting their worlds with George's so they could send him what they got from the rift.
When the troops returned to their worlds, the worlds' cores collected the balls of light they had absorbed during the rift, so when the connection to George's world happened, they only needed to send those balls through the portal for him to receive them.
The connection method was the same as when a fight between worlds happened. The two worldbuilders would look at each other's eyes to create a link between their worlds, and then they would send whatever they wanted to exchange through it.
When George got all the loot, he closed his eyes for a few seconds before opening them again.
"Ok. We got two add-ons, a waste devouring crystal, and a good chunk of energy. One of the add-ons is about the undead, while the other is about dwarf technology." George explained before looking at the customers." As you have paid for participating, you get priority to decide if you want anything."
Stolen story; please report.
"I want the undead add-on. I'm sure it will synergize pretty well with my undead knights." said the customer that had asked for the loot.
"I guess I will take the dwarf technology add-on then. I don't need it, but I may be able to exchange it for something interesting." said the other customer.
"If you are not interested, we could do some business." Jacob said while smiling." With a few tweaks, I may be able to fuse that add-on with my steampunk rune. I have a miscellaneous-creatures add-on that I don't need, and you may find some use for it with your card-summoning add-on."
"Works for me." the customer replied.
"That leaves the energy and the waste devouring crystal without an owner. Any of you want any?" George said while looking at Jacob and Axel.
"No, thanks. I prefer to get contribution points." Jacob replied with a smile while denying it with his head.
"Contribution points?" Axel asked.
"Whenever you take part in a rift, you can choose to get part of the loot or be paid in contribution points. If you choose the contribution points, you can exchange them later for any item that "The Weapons of the Gods" had stored until now, while the loot that you didn't want would be stored so anyone could pay points for them." George explained."The contribution points you get are decided by looking at what you have accomplished during the rifts, so if you perform well, you may get both loot and points in a single rift."
"I've done pretty well. Do I get loot and points?" Axel asked with shining eyes.
"Of course not, but you may come with Jacob and me to the bar later to celebrate that you have cleared the rift," George said while bursting into laughter.
"Then I guess I will pick the points," Axel replied.
"What? Do you even know what the waste devouring crystal does?" George asked while arching an eyebrow.
"Yes, I have heard about it in some tutorials, but I don't think my add-ons are so complex that they need to be optimized. I prefer to have the possibility to get some add-on that may synergize well with the ones that I already have." Axel replied.
"Well, if that's the case, I guess there's nothing I can do about it," George said while smiling.
After that, the customers left. As George had said, they decided to go to a bar, so Jacob and Axel got into George's car to get to their destination quicker.
It took them less than ten minutes to arrive, and as soon as they entered through the door, the bartender greeted them from behind the bar.
"How's everything? Has it been a bountiful rift?" the bartender asked with a smile while cleaning the bar with a rag.
Hearing these words, Axel was surprised that the bartender knew that they had just come from a rift.
"Don't be so surprised, kid. He is John, and he is one of our group's leaders." George explained while laughing.
