Chapter 187

After hearing his father's voice, a shiver ran through Axel's back. Slowly, he turned toward the window and saw his father with a judging look.

"I can explain this... I was walking down the street when..." Axel tried to make an excuse when his father talked.

"I don't hear excuses. Go inside, so I can talk with Philip before we have a conversation." He said seriously.

Axel followed his father's instructions and entered the house, as he saw no possibility of solving anything right now. Crossing the door, he saw his father walking down the corridor to leave the house.

They crossed gazes for a second that felt infinite.

His father's eyes felt as if a knife was stabbing him between his eyes, which caused a wince of pain to appear on his face. As if reacting to that, a small smile appeared on his father's face.

'Wait, what? That wasn't something mental. Has he done me something?' Axel thought before turning to look at his father's back.

Dozens of thoughts crossed Axel's mind at the moment.

He saw his parent walking toward Philip's car before opening its door and sitting on it while talking with his coworker. They were a few meters away, and they weren't talking very loud so Axel couldn't hear them, but it was clear that it was an amicable conversation.

But suddenly, they stood quiet and still for a few seconds while looking at each other's eyes.

At that moment, Axel realized what was happening.

'Do my father have a functional world?' he thought.

Before losing more time, Axel closed his eyes and focused on the area in front of him. Almost instantly, he felt two worlds a few meters ahead of him, one stronger than the other.

After sensing that, Axel took a few steps back before his father turned his head toward him and showed a cold smile.

Without knowing what to do, he turned around and went directly to the bathroom.

'Fuck. What I'm doing? Instead of looking for answers, I'm hiding as a child,' Axel thought.' Think, Axel, think. Your father, who was supposed to disapprove of worldbuilding, has a world stronger than yours... Wait, was the pain I felt him trying to prove my world's defenses? What the hell should I do? If he tries to attack my world and is of higher rank than me, I may not be able to defend. Well, he shouldn't try to destroy my world, right? At least he shouldn't attack me without talking before. Knowing him, he may challenge me to a duel or something like that.'

As he was thinking, he heard a knock on the bathroom door.

"Even if you hide inside there, I will be here once you decide to leave." His father's voice said across the door.

"I'm... I'm not hiding. I'm using the bathroom, and I would love to have some privacy." Axel said.

"Ok, I will let you have all the time you need, but know that I will be waiting for you in the living room." He replied before Axel heard footsteps walking away from the door.

After hearing that, Axel sighed. At least he got enough time to prepare for any possible situation.

Closing his eyes, Axel entered his inner world so he could get even more time to think.

"Heaven, prepare everything. We will probably have to fight a battle where we are the underdog. I don't care what you do, but I want all the world's troops ready to fight at any moment, including magical beasts. And I want Nathan and Sacro's army to stay near the archway. They have to be the first line of defense." Axel ordered.

"I won't let anyone pass through the tunnel," Heaven replied loyally.

After that, Axel's worlds started moving to prepare for the fight.

Knowing there weren't many more things he could do in this little time, Axel broke his concentration and left the bathroom to head to the living room.

With every step, the stress he felt increased while beads of sweat accumulated on his forehead. He saw his father sitting on a sofa when he crossed the door before he told him to sit in front.

Not knowing what to do, Axel tried to talk his way out.

"Look, dad. I know you don't have a good impression of worldbuilding, but I'm enjoying it far more than anything I've done in the last years of my life." Axel said.

After hearing that, a smile appeared on his father's face for a second before it turned into a severe expression.

"I give you a week," he said.

"A week? A week for what?" Axel asked, confused.

"A week to prepare for our fight. I won't tell anything to your mother about this for the time being, but if we fight and you lose, I will be the one to decide your fate as a worldbuilder." His father said while crossing his arms.
