Chapter 189

The first thing to do was to know where his troops excelled. By understanding his strengths, he would know what to focus on and which areas to strengthen to reduce his weaknesses.

Axel understood a few things by looking at the information about his world's strongest creatures.

He first realized that bloodlines were a factor to consider when talking about individual strength. Only a few magical beasts had managed to break through to the next rank, and most of them were part of the descendant of the ice snake he used in the tournament.

'It is good that those stronger grow in number compared with those weaker, but if this continues like this, a few species will end up conquering the world, eliminating the rest, so I better fix it before it becomes a real problem. After all, diversity is also an essential factor when considering the strength of a world.' Axel thought before realizing his problem. 'But the add-on that controls that is the cultivation add-on. If I change it a lot, I will be in difficulties, so I need to make the fewer changes possible.

With a movement of his hand, the information screens disappeared, and his world's core appeared instead. As if reacting to Axel's intentions, some energy flowing toward the cultivation add-on.

"From now on, the stronger the bloodline of a creature, the weaker its reproductive capacities would become, without ever becoming completely sterile," Axel said as he looked at the shiny rune.

After his words, one of the lines of the cultivation rune began to shake slightly before ending up in an almost identical position.

'Well, it looks fine enough for me.'

After solving the first immediate problem, Axel began to think of ways to encourage the emergence of new bloodlines. He needed new species to grow and compete with the ice snakes and, simultaneously, pressure humanity to continue growing stronger.

But he wanted to avoid choosing a few species and boosting them artificially. That would take too much work, and his choices may not work.

Ultimately, he preferred natural selection to do his job, so he needed a way to speed up that process.

While thinking about how to do that, he remembered something. He remembered the tree Nathan and his friends had found in the forest where they had learned the first runes and how a giant turtle defended it overall.

The reason for that turtle to do that was because it used the energy the tree gathered in the form of energy to grow faster than its peers.

That had been an extraordinary situation where a combination of runes had created an ideal specimen that some creatures could use to grow stronger.

Still, if he could make something similar around the world, that would make all beasts fight for those things, filtering that way the weaker and helping the best species to obtain their bloodlines faster.

'If I'm not mistaken, there are already some magical plants in the world, but their only characteristic is their capacity to store energy inside. Adding new characteristics may be the perfect way to speed up my world's growth.' Axel thought.

Axel stood still for a few seconds while looking at the energy add-on, thinking about the words he was about to pronounce. The rune began to shine with intensity when he knew what he would say.

"In areas with large concentrations of energy, the plants would mutate to become magical plants as they do now, but will also gain some other characteristics depending on their element. That way, some would have the feature of boosting one's cultivation level, healing injuries more efficiently, or even raising someone's cultivation temporarily. While some magical plants would have positive effects, some would have negative ones."

As he said that, Axel's face changed entirely into one of excitement, as if he just had the best idea of his life.

"Also, a new kind of energy will appear in the world. It will have poison characteristics and cause decay in the things it affects. The plants that adapt and mutate with this new energy type would be toxic, becoming great ingredients to create poisons of all kinds." Axel said.

As he talked, the rune changed under the influence of the core's energy.

After all, he had made significant changes to its functioning and even added a new energy type, so the changes in the rune and his world would also be substantial.

'Well, what else can tweak?'
