Chapter 105

"What? Already? And where is what you have found?" Owald asked as confusion appeared on his face.

"It was a ball of light. It appeared when I broke the skeleton's staff, and it fused with my body soon after." Ethan confessed.

"And it has done anything to you? Do you feel stronger or anything?" Zack asked curiously.

"Nothing at all. I theorize that even though I feel nothing, that light is in my body and will be retrieved by Heaven once we return to our world." Ethan explained

"Well, I guess we can only know when we return to our world. " Zack said smiling, while Owald nodded at his words.

"In that case, we should start moving toward the mountain to help the other group," Owald said while looking at the mountain.

"My men are still tending the wounded, but there doesn't seem to be any danger around here now that we have disposed of the undead, so I suggest that we split into two groups, and while one goes to the mountain, the other stays here making sure everyone is fine," Ethan suggested.

"Are you trying to avoid the next fight?" Owald asked as a wide smile appeared on his face.

"I'm going to be part of the group that goes to the mountain, you idiot. You should know that your tribe is the one with the most wounded, so if anyone should evade the next battle, it should be you." With a cold smile, Ethan said.

"Oh, I must admit that that one hurt," Owald said while bursting into laughter.

After that, they spent the next few minutes planning who would be part of each group. While they did that, the summoners' mounts dissipated into light particles.

"Are you two not coming to the mountain?" Zack inquired, surprised.

"Of course, we are going. It is only that our summons can only stay on our existential plain for an hour. After that, we need to call for another companion." One of them explained

After saying that, he drew a card from his deck and showed it to the ground.

"Flora Wolf, hear my call!" he shouted.

On the spot the card touched the ground, a bush grew in seconds before becoming a wolf made of vegetation. Even though his body was mostly made of wood, it had moss growing all over it, as if it was fur, while a few flowers grew on his back. This, added to the fact that it was two meters tall, made the beast look like it was the embodiment of nature itself.

"See, now I'm ready for another fight," the teen said as he climbed onto the wolf.

"I... I don't think I can!" the other summoner cried."Frank and John died. They were much better summoners than I am. How am I supposed to continue if something like that has happened to them?"

A pained expression appeared on the wolf's summoner before he gritted his teeth.

"You are far superior to what you believe. You always advised Frank and John about how to build their decks and how to become better summoners. Without you, they would never have reached where they were," he said, determinedly. "You need more confidence. If you get that, you will become one of the best summoners any world has ever seen."

"How am I supposed to believe in myself if I keep failing at everything?" the other asked as tears ran through his cheeks.

"You don't have to believe in yourself. You just need to believe in the cards."

The summoner's eyes opened wide after hearing that. Slowly, he moved his trembling hand toward his deck.

Then, he whispered as he drew a card and threw it to the ground, "Timeless dragon Maliun, aid me in these times of need."

From the ground began to emerge many metallic parts that began to combine themselves until a metallic dragon appeared. It was made of gears, and his body made the same noise like a clock.

A small smile appeared on the summoner's face after seeing this.

"You were right, my friend. I just needed to believe in the cards." He said before he got on the dragon and began to fly toward the mountain. Seeing his friend leave, the wolf also began to move in the same direction.

"I don't get it. Do they know which card they are about to draw or is it random? And if they know, wouldn't it be better to always look at them so you can pick any of them at any time?" Owald asked, confused.

"And we are the weird ones..." Ethan said while sighing.
