With baggy eyes and a slow walking pace, Nathan left his room to return to the laboratory after spending the whole night searching for information that could aid him in his investigation.
Being the first to arrive, he placed the book he had borrowed from the library and some notes he had made from it on one of the shelves at the back of the room.
As he neared the turtle's shell again to inspect it, the lab's door opened, and his two companions entered through it.
"Oh, so you are here. We went to your room to ask you if you wanted to go and get breakfast with us. As you didn't reply, we thought you were still sleeping." Travis said while laughing before seeing Nathan's face. "What the hell happened to you? You look like shit."
"It is not that I was sleeping. It is that I didn't sleep at all."Nathan replied with a smile."But I spent the whole night searching through the library for information that could be useful for the experiment, so I think it is worth it."
"Have you found anything useful then?" Marianne asked curiously.
"Yes. Everything is on that shelf." He replied as he pointed toward where he had placed the book and his notes.
After that, Marianne and Travis began to read through Nathan's notes with interest before turning their attention to the book. A few minutes later, Travis looked toward his friend as he stopped reading.
"This sounds interesting, but this looks like information too advanced to be free. Have you spent energy coins to get this from one of the superior levels?" Travis asked, surprised.
"Yes, I have. It is a little investment for the sake of the investigation. After all, if we learn how to use this symbol to our benefit, its value will be much higher than a few energy coins." Nathan explained.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
"Well, the three of us are working on this investigation, so the best thing would be to split up the cost of the book as we have done with the laboratory," Travis suggested.
"Better than that, you can rent other books that may be as useful as this or even more," Nathan replied.
"Sounds about right." Travis and Marianne replied at the same time.
After that, the three discussed what Nathan had written down in his notes. Even though the idea of drawing the symbols with a material with high energy compatibility sounded great, it was easier to say than to do.
First of all, those kinds of materials were usually pretty expensive, so every time they failed an experiment, they would lose money.
Not only that, but they also needed materials with specific characteristics. Even if the material had high energy compatibility, if it was hard to mold to create the symbols, it would be useless for their purpose.
Also, once drawn, the symbol should stay as it was for a long time if they wanted it to continue working, so they would need to find a way to make it stay in the position they wanted.
After a few minutes of group thinking, Marianne suddenly became very excited.
"I have an idea! I read in a book a few years ago something about how energy-infused items are created in nature, and it talked about a theoretical way to do it oneself."Marianne said." The problem is that I don't remember exactly how it worked. It was supposed to be a very ineffective procedure, so no one found a use for it as it wasn't worth it, but as we only need to create enough materials to draw the symbol, I think it could be worth trying."
"Sounds great. At least that way, we have something to start working on." Nathan said with a smile on his face before his stomach growled."Well, maybe I should go have breakfast before anything else."
"We can split up. Travis and I will go to the library to find the book. Meanwhile, you can go and get something to eat. It wouldn't be cool if you passed out from hunger." Marianne said while laughing.
After that, they did as Marianne said.
Luckily for them, the library had a copy of the book Marianne wanted, so after paying the fee, they returned to the laboratory and began to read it.
After about an hour, they already had ideas for how to proceed with the creation of the symbol.
"Ok, if I understood correctly, we only need to make the matter fuse with a shit-ton of energy, and it's done, right?" Travis asked.
"More or less. But we will need to develop a way to make it more efficient and precise if we want to make symbols with it." Nathan replied.
