Clara was surprised to receive an invitation for her lover from a classmate.
She didn't have much impression of the guy who just talked with her earlier but she at least knew that the guy was very low profile. There shouldn't be any reason or instance when her lover or that guy ever crossed paths yet here he was giving her an invitation card.
The guy, Thomas, requested of her to give it to him on his behalf since a friend of his wanted to hold a congratulatory feast for the top ten of first year students. Because of her connection with him Thomas had decided to send it through her.
Clara agreed as there was no reason to refuse it.
After the compulsory subjects lessons ended for the day she found Blue in the club and told him about the matter before handing over the invitation letter. She then accompanied him to see if his friend Luna also received one.
A few moments later, Luna had arrived at the Beast Racing club and also got to them first thing to narrate about the same matter. Her lover told Luna to accept the invitation since it was a senior of the academy extending goodwill towards them.
However he also couldn't help but ponder aloud,
“Us first year students don't have any interaction with senior Xavier but he still went out of his way to celebrate our recent results. I wonder what got him so enthusiastic.”
She then thought about a possibility and couldn't help but speak out of concern,
“I remember that he also has the same type of aura attribute affinity. There had been some comparison between the two of you before and for the past few days it seemed to have intensified. I have heard some bits of news among the third year students.”
“Are you saying that he invited us this time mainly to have a talk with me about this matter? If it is so then I can only apologize to him later. To be truthful, I also had heard about such gossip here and there but I thought that as a senior player and not to mention that both of us are a whole different class type altogether senior Xavier wouldn't let it bother him in any way.”
“Wait! Why do you have to apologize? It's not like you did something bad to him. It was just people running their own mouths without any consideration. There is no need for you to be sorry for this.”
“Luna, even though I didn't do anything but at the end of the day this matter centered around the both of us. Eventually both of us need to have a proper talk and resolve any misunderstanding that might ensue because of it. As a junior it isn't anything shameful to take a step back and give him some face.”
Upon his insistence, his friend Luna only shook her head in exasperation. It seemed this top prodigy who had shot up in the ranking didn't like the fact that her friend who's the the top ranked needed to apologize for such reasons.
Clara on the other hand also gave her opinions,
“That being said, if both of you manage to resolve your misunderstandings then it wouldn't be anything bad either. What surprised me though was that Thomas, a third year student, actually considers Xavier as his friend. Given the rigid hierarchy of seniority that the academy instills on us this fact is very… odd. I wonder if that Xavier guy actually had enough qualities to make a senior player like Thomas consider him as such.”
“In my opinion, senior Clara, I don't think that's the case. When I heard before that only senior Xavier and Blue had the same type of aura attribute affinity within the entire academy I did a background check on him out of curiosity. From what I have learned he is very arrogant and behaves rudely to his peers. Pride seemed to be seeped into his bones after being the only pampered student within the academy till Blue enrolled. Such a guy surely doesn't have any good qualities within him. That senior Thomas is probably the same type of character since he could get along with such an unpleasant person.”
“Eh? It seemed that because of my disinterest in the matter I have overlooked that guy's true personality. However, Thomas is very low profile though. He was, well, let's say that he has a weak presence.”
This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.
“Maybe senior Thomas hid his true side from others before and only managed to click together with that guy later on. After all, birds of a feather flock together, no?”
Luna gave her conjecture with a hint of disdain hidden in it. Clara was somewhat surprised that she seemed to be very forthcoming with her words. Even just yesterday there was some reservation present within her speech and dialogues whenever she had any conversation with her. She was a senior player of the third year, after all and unlike Blue she wasn't a family member.
What changed her so much in just a day?
Clara wondered but her thoughts were interrupted as her lover gave two soft claps to draw their attention as he said in a somewhat reprimanding tone,
“That's enough, both of you. Whether those two seniors had a bad or good personality is something we should only judge after having personally interacted with them. Tomorrow at noon, we will figure it out anyway. Talking behind like this is quite unbecoming so let's end the matter for now.”
Both of them thus decided to stop discussing this topic lest he became upset and instead talked about the upcoming first exchange event for the first year students. As a third year, her academy schedule was obviously different.
She couldn't help but reminisce about her own past experience during this event.

Luna walked along her crush as they made their way to senior Xavier’s place.
On the way they met with some of the other top ten and talked with them as they moved ahead. It seemed that even they were unsure of this “celebratory feast” that came out of nowhere.
She was actually feeling very restless today. Not a single day went by where her past memory didn't keep being unlocked. From what she could sense intuitively, there was still a long way to go to have all of it unlocked, the ones she did have had made her… better?
She didn't know how to properly express it but the more her past life's memory kept being engraved in her mind the more she felt herself maturing psychologically. Within the recent memories she had learned about the frightening truth of Status Window skill and also was relieved to have found the methods to counter it being already present within herself.
It seemed that her past self had already considered this matter before the reincarnation.
That being said, the entire thing wouldn't have made her so uneasy today if not for the fact that she had learned about something in her past memories. Whenever something untoward was about to happen to her this type of uneasiness would assail her for a while.
She still didn't know what was the exact thing that made her feel like this but from those memories she was certain that later down the line she had found the truth behind it. But for now, it remained elusive to her.
So this uneasy feeling was what made her to warn her crush solemnly as senior Xavier’s place came into their view,
“Blue, I have a bad feeling about this. We need to be careful there. Something might happen.”
“Hmm? We are in the academy though? It is not like senior Xavier has anything against us that would make him break the rules just for… Wait! Is this related to your, uh, that thing?”
“Yes, that's right. I learned last night that whenever an uneasy feeling would well within me something bad always happened.”
“This… should we not go then? If it is so serious then let's just turn back.”
“...”
Luna couldn't give him a certain answer. Sure she had her past memories and this feeling had apparently helped her a lot before but in her new life, where she had to keep the matter of reincarnation as discreet as possible, any sudden shift in behavior was bound to bring attention to her.
Even with the second rank popularity on her back she had been trying to remain as low profile and as usual as possible. Her three attainments had actually reached a point where even Blue was left behind. Thanks to her past self's methods it remained hidden from others as she now actively modified her status window. Even her crush remained oblivious as she didn't divulge it because of the way her mindset had been changing recently.
If it was only her and her crush who was invited today then she would have readily agreed to turn back at this point but the issue was eight others were also invited and some of them were also accompanying them after having bumped into the way.
If both of them now turned back all of a sudden then they were bound to be questioned about the reason for it. She might fool them with nonsense but she was acutely aware that her crush was a really bad liar. She couldn't be sure if there would be a suspicious point left behind because of it.
So she could only shake her head as a reply and tread ahead despite her suspicion about senior Xavier’s motives.
