At the large screen mounted on the white wall, there were figures of four who were shown choosing weapons from the three tables filled with weaponry. A pair of green eyes was observing the scene absentmindedly.
Nicole and another colleague of hers had been chosen to oversee this time's batch from a world in the Outer Area. They had already repeated this exact same test on those who arrived earlier than this group. The flow of time's river could be increased and decreased by will from the control room she was in.
However both of them were extremely cautious while handling them. The matter of overseeing those outer denizens was considered extremely dangerous. There was always a high risk of getting affected by one of the abominations.
Though the containment facility she was in had been specifically designed to deal with them, there were cases when someone became a victim of those abominations despite having so many countermeasures. She was inwardly very frustrated.
If not for neglecting her duties as a teacher by not properly teaching that student after being assigned she would not have found herself here. She could only grit her teeth and accept the order.
"What did you expect me to do? Teach that obnoxious brat who's arrogance has become worse by the day? I surely ain't bothering."
She muttered adamantly as she still stood by her decision. She always prioritized a student's potential by the fact that whether someone was a prodigy or a dullard didn't matter as long as their personality and willpower was decent enough. In her eyes that arrogant brat who the academy pampered wouldn't go far as a player.
The Inner Area trial might be passed but after arriving there only untold hardship awaited. If you offended someone important by being arrogant or became an eyesore to someone influential then even the academy couldn't do much to shield you.
Nicole was still in deep thought as she watched the four figures finish choosing their weapon. She then gave them the next set of instructions as she thought,
"Let's see how capable you are in combat. From here on the real test begins."
She focused on the bident wielding young man. She had been paying attention to him ever since the first room's performance.
"This young man is probably the most handsome man I have ever seen. However if he had been affected by an abomination then… it is really a pity… "
She mused as she saw the simulation of the Dimensional Gate opening and the invaders pouring into his direction.

Blue talked with Karla a bit and decided the order they would go in. He will be the first then followed by Karla. The other two would go after them.
So the three retreated all the way in front of the doorway they came from earlier and Blue remained on the spot as he casually took a few swings of the bident to get a good feel for it.
Few moments later, intense spatial fluctuations appeared at a distance in front of him and just three seconds later a Dimensional Gate, that looked like a circular portal floating just a bit above the ground, materialized into thin air and from within it came footsteps, laughter, howls and other noises.
Many beings exited from the Gate and rushed towards him. There were many small figures running behind a handful of those who rode wolves. They were then followed by a couple of those who were the same height as him.
Looking at them Blue pretended to show a serious expression on his face as he took a stance with his bident that enabled him to intercept the incoming invaders.
"Goblins, goblin wolf riders and two hobgoblins from the myriad race. Tsk! Tsk! To think there would come a day where I have to personally fight with these trashes. Woe is me!"
He greatly lamented inwardly while he pretended to show an expression as if he was facing a great enemy.
There were six goblin wolf riders with spears and javelins on themselves. There were ten goblins who sprinted behind them with a ugly smile as they had rusty daggers, shortswords, hatchets and slings among them. The two hobgoblins the size of a human adult were following behind the goblins while giving out orders. One of them had a massive club and another had a rusty broadsword.
It wouldn't even have taken him ten seconds to kill all this trash from myriad race. Even among the myriad race goblins were one of the weakest. Of course, that's the reason why the academy let them face those weaklings.
It would be considered a life-or-death situation for any average awakened human to suddenly be told to confront all of them with just their meager mastery of weapon while they hadn't learned to use class skills through the aether of their attribute.

Blue naturally had to follow the routine and pretend to be struggling against these trashes. He also had to be high profile while doing so and show the academy that he had high potential as a player. So he thought of the ideal actions he could take along with the conclusion of this fight.
Thus he executed the plan.
The wolf riders had entered the range where their javelins could hit him and the two goblins who had slings also loaded some kind of glowing projectile. They all shot at him one after another. Six javelins zoomed on towards him followed by two glowing egg-like projectiles.
He retreated while swaying left and right to avoid the javelins. Some of it managed to graze him just a bit because of his deliberation. While the glowing projectiles were swatted away with his bident and it was directed to one of the goblin wolf riders who were closest to him.
That goblin panicked and tried to urge its wolf to get away but alas the initial delay in reaction caused him his life as the first projectile was directed at the wolf, causing the beast to rely on its survival instinct instead of its master's orders, so the wolf dodged the projectile that hit the empty ground later while the goblin on it ended up being positioned to receive the remaining projectile on its head.
Spalt!
With one of them already down on their first clash the goblins' previous smug and ugly laughter abruptly stopped as they all wore a serious expression while the hobgoblins hurriedly gave a new set of order to them in their own language.
The goblin wolf riders that were closing in earlier retreated to take the position to encircle him instead and those two with slings stopped shooting while also positioning themselves on the front and back of him. The eight goblins who had melee weapons rushed at him this time while the hobgoblins stood back like earlier as they scrutinized him vigilantly.
Blue of course didn't stand still to let himself be encircled. He moved around while they persisted to position themselves by their leaders order. He then clashed with those goblins who had melee weapons.
He smartly engaged only the two with daggers first among the bunch that closed on him. His bident with the long reach skewered the two shortly. While he was taking on them a few occasional javelins would come at him which he made sure to barely evade while showing an expression of intense struggle. He later used the skewered goblin corpses as a shield to their javelins and closed in on the two with hatchets.
This time those goblins made sure not to get disadvantaged by the reach of this human's weapon and one of them threw the hatchet at his face while the other engaged his bident.
Blue showed a panicked expression and ducked to avoid the hatchet. At that time a timely javelin also arrived and managed to pierce his left shoulder.
"Ugh!"
He grunted in pain and quickly retreated further as the encirclement almost completed at that moment. While he retreated he ended up being grazed by more javelins as his injury on the shoulder worsened.
Blue naturally could avoid the previous hatchet or the javelin but he still made sure to show a blunder as him being able to tackle that situation would be far too suspicious. He would no longer be considered a diamond in the rough but someone worth investigating because his combat experience ended up exceeding academy's expectations.
While retreating he showed a desperate struggle as he tried to salvage the situation by employing a hit-and-run tactic to thin out the number chasing him. He managed to take down the hatchet wielding goblins and one of the shortsword wielders. The consistent javelins and rare projectiles made his injury worsen along with more light injuries added as the time passed.
About three minutes later, another javelin managed to pierce his right leg and his mobility got compromised. His blood loss was also severe. His vision was dimming slowly but he still pretended to show a desperate struggle as he endeavored to take down two more goblin wolf riders. His injuries had gotten to the point that it was impossible to continue, his breathing had become faint and his vision would surely darken at any moment. His black leather jacket and jeans were colored crimson from the sheer amount of blood loss.
However, he was still standing tall with a straight back and showed such a look of resolve at the goblins that it screamed he was ready to take down all of them at the cost of his life.
Just as he took a stance to dash at them instead of retreating continuously, all the goblins' figures started becoming faint before they vanished. The javelins that pierced him earlier also vanished without a trace as his weapon got teleported away. The previous female voice came in at that time,
"Ten minutes had passed. You don't need to fight anymore. Quickly drink the health potion."
There was a hint of distress in her voice that wasn't so cold anymore. As she finished talking a vial of glowing red liquid teleported in front of him while he was now sitting and panting. He took the vial with a trembling hand and drank it slowly.
His injuries and lost blood swiftly recovered but his stamina remained untouched.
"Tch, a failed health potion, huh. Well, I am an outer denizen after all. Though with a high potential from now on."
He thought inwardly as he laid down on the grass as if he was really exhausted. He had shown off enough. Now he had to wait patiently to draw in the benefits. That female voice's slight change in tone had already alerted him of his plan's initial success.
"With three kills on goblin wolf riders, ten kills on remaining goblins along with my impromptu tactics that gave the impression that I was doing all this while thinking on the spot and coupled with the firm resolve I showed almost throughout the fight it would be strange for it not to work, hehe."
He got up while inwardly chuckling and joined an anxious looking Karla. His bloodied clothes gave her a fright and the goblins she just saw for the first time in real life made her fearful and… angry.
Though she had seen many invaders videos and photos on tv and internet but seeing one in real life was truly a whole nother matter. It also didn't help that she would have to fight them next. However seeing his brave actions and the ever reliable back she found the courage within herself to confront them.
She also had to vent her anger from seeing her lover bloodied like this.
