Chapter 62: Level Up Grind Part 1

Chapter 62: Level Up Grind Part 1

Walter led his students to a special facility within the academy.

The young Paladins were all at level 1 for an entire month. Now that they had reached the early phase of Regular stage in aura attribute comprehension at least and their main weapon mastery as well as skill proficiency had also reached the bare minimum requirements they were now truly ready to withstand this special facility's harshness.

“Alright, listen up. All of you will enter one at a time. It will take only two minutes for us outside but the time difference inside it will be much longer. I want all the Paladins to pour out all they had learned during the first month inside there.”

“Remember, the more a player does activities related to their class the more experience they accumulate which later results in a level up. The total amount of experience needed to level up varies from player to player so there's no need to feel dejected if your peers are racing ahead of you in their levels.”

“As long as you keep persevering inside there, no matter the variation in experience, your level up is inevitable. Sometimes the increased amount of experience needed for the level up actually indicates your higher potential as a player of that class. Of course, it is just for exceptional cases and shouldn't be treated as the norm.”

“All of us Paladins are combat oriented. So you all will be going through nonstop combat inside this special facility from nine in the morning to two pm sharp. There will be no other compulsory subjects lessons for this second month. All of the allocated time is dedicated to leveling up.”

“Let me explain how this special facility works. First of all, it is a simulation facility that all of you have already encountered in the entrance test and the first monthly evaluation. You will keep fighting against the simulated monsters inside there till you either drop from exhaustion or faint from injuries. Rest assured that just like in previous cases there won't be any fatal injuries inflicted on you but there's a catch.”

“In real life combat, monsters won't be so merciful to avoid your vitals and they would use all their strengths as well as any underhanded means possible to kill you during any confrontation. So this facility's simulation will also follow that pattern. Instead of receiving damage after being hit in a vital spot it will replace it with deduction in your academy points.”

When he explained this, many young Paladins' faces became a bit complicated. They thought that not being in pain was something they should cheer for but the deduction in academy points, as a student, felt equally painful to them.

“Oh? Hahaha, there's no need to feel dejected over it. The point deduction varies according to the instant result it would have on you after the hit. Take for an example, if the damage was enough to take your life then twenty academy points will be deducted but if it was only to the extent that you would be incapacitated for a long time then ten points would be deducted.”

“Long story short, just don't get hit and perform your best. All of this is a precious opportunity for you to gain real combat experience without even having to risk your life for it. This will serve as a foundation for your future as a combat class player. Be sure to take this seriously.”

“Now that it is out of the way, let's talk about the time difference. No matter how much time you spend inside there, it will always amount to two minutes for us outside. So there's no need to feel any concern of being inconvenient to others.”

“Thirdly, this simulation facility will force you out after it deems that you have hit your limits in stamina or your injuries were too severe to continue the combat. It will put you in a medicinal tank of a top quality potion that heals both your health and stamina simultaneously. After that care you will be shown the exit. Ah, make sure to fix your clothings before exiting. We don't need to see your skin, now do we?”

His joke received a bout of soft chuckles among the young adults before he continued again,

“That being said you can also voluntarily exit the facility by saying, I give up, out loud. If you feel that your academy points have been deducted so much that it was affecting your attention then you may consider taking this option. However, there is a penalty for giving up.”

“All of us outside would be shown a holographic floating screen that will contain your combat highlights of one minute length regardless of the total amount you spent inside. We will be able to monitor through it whether you were taking this seriously or not.”

“If you give up then the chance of being able to continue again after everyone had taken their turn would be nullified for you. This will further broaden the distance between your progress and your peers who have worked harder. So as a player and most importantly as a Paladin, I better not see any such disappointing acts or that person will get another fifty points deducted for being an embarrassment to the Paladin class. ”

“Are we clear?”

““Yes, sir!!””

All the young Paladins replied with enthusiasm as their fighting spirit soared to the peak and their determination ablaze.

“Good response! Student Blue, as the highest ranked among the Paladins you will now enter first.”

“Yes, sir!”

So the lessons for the second month began.

Blue attentively listened to Walter's explanation and crafted some detailed plans while reviewing anything he overlooked or needed to further refine.

Upon being given the first honor to begin the nonstop combat lessons he obediently entered the square shaped white marbled special facility. After he entered his vision changed as he got teleported to the area used for simulation related to combat class.

This special facility naturally also had functions for non-combat class students. The academy wouldn't neglect them in any way as all player classes had a role to fulfill in the Jester's Domain. Take this facility for example. The production class had worked hard to produce such a facility which stood to lay the foundation of young players.

Production class is one of the two subdivisions of the non-combat class, the other one is called support class. In a bonafide player party there will be those with support class also participating in the battlefield unlike the way monthly evaluation was conducted. Of course, such an issue would later be handled by the academy in a more preferable manner which seamlessly fit into the current curriculum they had approved of.

Blue also was deeply aware that the previously mentioned highlight screen was just a front as the entire proceedings from his entry in the facility till the exit were being firmly recorded for those “teachers” to review later on. They would never reveal such a thing lest the students develop a habit of being too suspicious towards the academy thus causing the efficiency to drop significantly.

Regardless, he was actually not much worried about this as the very moment he exited the cloud house he would put up a mask of persona till he was back home. Well, to him there was no such thing as a home since the time he got transmigrated forcefully by that system. Though this system wanted to dub the [Clan Manor] as true home or whatever but deeply within him, he knew that he always longed for the Abyss, his true birthplace.

He obviously took great pride as an abyss spawn.

Blue was sure that if one day Karla or other women that would eventually fall on his hand ended up finding out his secret identity then unless the favorability point was at 100, which he surmised as something like unshakable love or similar, they would be the first one to take action against him covertly so they could ensure their safety.

This mask of facade was thus his true company.

It would have exhausted someone from other races to constantly act, always scheme and manipulate everyone in each living moment of their life but who was he?

An abyss spawn, who others in the void feared as a calamity. Hell, even among the abyss spawns he was in a completely different caliber when it came to such activities.

It was to the point that, if a human ever asked whether he ever felt tired from all of this then he would counter by asking, if they felt tired from breathing everyday?

Indeed, he had reached that point.

Blue put a stop to his stray thoughts as he took out the academy issued bident out of the inventory. The place he was teleported in was inside a flat grassland similar to when he fought in the entrance test.

A few moments later, the simulation of a Gate appeared and then monsters invading appeared in front of him.

He took a battle stance as he decided to give the academy footage of a rising star.
