Chapter 12: The Adoption Process Part 3

Chapter 12: The Adoption Process Part 3

Laura had been feeling stressed these days. She did have her concerns about the time limit approaching but she thought she could wait till her eldest daughter graduated. However she remembered that both of her daughters would probably have had some knowledge about her decision beforehand since they knew her all too well.

What if her eldest daughter was the same type of prodigy her son was?

If she also ended up completing her academy course before the standard five years time then wouldn't she return home and go to the capital to try solving her case. If that were to happen then as a young girl without a strong background she would be taken advantage of.

No! This can't happen!

Though she was still studying at the academy for two years and hadn't mentioned anything about being close to graduating or rather her study progress was always average, what if she kept her progress hidden just to give her a surprise later? Wouldn't she end up walking into a quagmire because of her issue after she returned?

She had to hurry!

These were the thoughts she constantly had during these past months. She had already decided that after Karla reached 18 and showed any signs prior to awakening within a week, which she surmised as being common since her two awakened childs were the same, she would reveal her decision for an adoption to them and swiftly get all the procedures done. That way she wouldn't have to worry about any prodigious daughter's surprise attack on her issue.

The decision had been made and thus she waited for the fateful day.

Indeed, her daughter didn't disappoint. After reaching her adulthood, just after five days, she showed signs of awakening. Few strands of her hair had started turning white. Laura who was keeping a keen eye for such changes was overjoyed.

When her son reached adulthood he gained more than four inches in height within the first week, her eldest daughter also showed a peculiar change as her eye colors started changing to purple. And when both of them went to the awakening ceremony they were both successfully awakened.

Now that Karla was sure to follow in their steps Laura didn't waste any time and directly video called her elder daughter. After that she had a long discussion and finally managed to convince them. She also persuaded Karla to accompany her later.

She then made an appointment for her visit two days later to the director of Verdant Orphanage.

Blue stood at the hospital room where he got a good view of his subspace at the city square.

He then connected with it in his mind as he searched for that item. He soon found it and brought it outside. It shrank to the size where he could put it in his pocket and appeared on his outstretched hand from thin air.

He then swiftly left the hospital. On his way he didn't have to bother with any acting as he was able to remain imperceptible even to the surveillance cameras. He returned to the orphanage without any incident and entered his private room.

He took that item out from his pocket.

It was a wine glass tinted in black swirls and within it lay a scrolled parchment which gave the impression that it was an antique because of its yellowish hue.

"One of the items I collected on the grotto-hell of my birth. To think it would finally see its use and on a mortal human no less."

Blue said with a tone of nostalgia. This wine bottle was one of the first things he got as his possession.

He called it "The Message in a Bottle".

It was found on the same grotto-hell he was born in. Speaking of grotto-hell, it is a very rare aether-rich space on the boundary between two areas of Abyss. He was born in the boundary of Outer Area and Inner Area and when he exited the grotto-hell, he was able to get into the Inner Area.

Now that he thought about it, if he hadn't gotten into the Inner Area just after exiting due to the unpredictable spatial fluctuation that surrounded a grotto-hell, he would have had to gamble with his life and spend many years just to get away from the Outer Area. He got really lucky there. Newbie luck perhaps? Or it could have been newborn luck.

As for why he had to gamble with his life just because he arrived in the Outer Area? It would be too tragic to mention the details that goes there and not to mention he currently had more important matters to attend to so he put a lead on his stray thoughts to focus on the task at hand.

He opened the cork of the wine bottle and slid the parchment on top of his hand. He then unscrolled it and took a look at its content.

The parchment was empty.

As it should have been, since he would write the message now. He then took a knife out of the cupboard by his bedside. It was the same knife that was used to kill the original Blue. He didn't discard it but kept it inside a secure casing.

Thanks to one of his women having the natural affinity to fate element he had a good understanding about this primordial element. There were four aether attributes considered as the primordial element which had influence on all other attributes. These four also influenced each other in a harmonious state.

The four primordial elements were known as time, space, luck and fate.

He kept the knife because the threads of fate would have the most significant influence on it since it was the very thing that ended original Blue's life. He couldn't casually discard such a thing lest he suffers from some backlash. After all, Blue's body was now his body.

Things that connected the original Blue to this world had already been destroyed by him. His original clothes when he woke up were burned to ashes in that "hospitable house" nearest to the alleyway when he went to take a shower. The handkerchief which was later turned into an anomaly was discarded along with the balding guy who was told to swim to the sea on that night. After becoming an anomaly it had severed the threads of fate that connected it to him thus ending any variable it might cause by falling into others hand. Any belonging left in the orphanage was gathered by him and dealt with zero inefficiency.

He liked being through with his new body.

Anyways, after taking the knife he cut his right index finger just enough to not leave behind any scar. He then began writing on the empty parchment.

"The owner of Blessed Womb physique, Laura, an unawakened mortal human female living in Carnova city. She will have her worries about the issue of not being able to fulfill her quota of the relevant law set by the Guild Alliance intensified. She will have distrust towards the motive of her awakened childrens thus hastening her decision to adopt an orphan to fulfill the quota. She will suffer from heightened anxiety till she reaches this decision and informs her family about it. When the sun had been hidden by dark clouds, she would come to the Verdant Orphanage situated on the southeast section of Carnova city and she would adopt an orphan among the kids brought to be chosen by the director of the orphanage and complete all the procedures on the spot. She will then take that chosen orphan home with her."

Blue looked at the contents he had written and nodded his head when he checked that all the important details had been properly written without any ambiguity. He also gave himself a heads up of a cloudy sky so he could tell when she was arriving. Though he would have had the director inform him if any woman named Laura made any appointment, she might miss the appointed time of her visit for many reasons.

So with the sky clouded to act as the alarm he could make any last minute preparation just in any case any variable appeared.

Blue then waited for the bloody handwriting to properly imprint on the old parchment. Few minutes later, he scrolled the parchment and put it back inside the wine bottle. He left the orphanage and appeared on the beach. There were some people but nobody was able to perceive him.

After going to a secluded part where people didn't gather, which was a three square meter place with patches of sand on it surrounded by rocks on all sides, he threw the wine bottle on the sea with his full strength.

It was flung away more than a hundred meters from the beach and landed on the water. A few seconds after it entirely submerged once and resurfaced, it turned into a streak of light that went towards the sky and disappeared from sight.

Blue nodded his head in satisfaction and started making his way back.

The Message in a Bottle, this item was able to pull the strings of fate appropriately to the contents written in the parchment as long as the writer didn't mention anything that would have been impossible to complete by themselves.

In that regard Blue wouldn't face any restrictions since if he had used bloodline abilities than Laura would have been dealt with in a blink of an eye. As he went back to his room and laid down he felt like a burden had been lifted from his chest.

The net had been cast and now to wait for the prey.
