Chapter 92: A Near Death Experience

Chapter 92: A Near Death Experience

Blue went to his new place. After having reached the first rank he naturally got the cloud house 1 as his new quarters.

This was practically a thirty storey tall hotel complex. Compared to his previous place this was more luxurious, lavish and high-tech in every detail.

He had already told Karla to bring Clara over to this new place and settle in before he went to meet Julie earlier. Upon entering he got to the floor those two were currently in through the teleportation function available within this place.

After talking with them for some time he let Laura join them. Now with the entire family gathered, the conversation about the exam today was discussed in detail. He also told them about how he got to meet the “esteemed” Baron Auburn himself earlier.

They were shocked to their core and the conversation heated up.

The matter of him being recruited by the House Auburn through Julie’s invitation was also revealed and after finally saying his pieces he told them about his decision to invite the entire Azure Sun party along with his personal teacher for a celebratory dinner banquet tonight.

This gained support from all of them, including Karla, who didn't subtly show any reluctance this time. This made him inwardly pleased as his designs for her seemed to have been progressing adequately.

He then looked around the hotel complex and chose the highest floor again. Of course, Karla also joined him and chose the same. It seemed to have surprised her that her big sister also chose a room on the same floor as them.

At the previous place, both her sister and mother would give them some space when considering where they moved in but this time her sister seemed to behave differently.

So after having finally settled in by a violent sex with Karla inside his new bedroom, he thought back to the conversation with Baron Auburn.

“The way he would take some time before continuing the conversation and the subtle changes in his expressions that seemed out of place was a dead giveaway of what he was covertly doing. My countermeasure against mind reading seemed to have done as expected, heh.”

He snickered with satisfaction as the very high leveled Baron was successfully deceived by him. He got the confirmation after Julie texted him about the approval of her grandfather. When he was told by Julie earlier how the Baron would only approve after he personally met him, at that instant he had certainty that his mind would be read during the conversation.

Blue was very cautious by nature and his millions of years of experiences as Azure Limbo in the past life had long taken it to a paranoia level. He wasn't a top powerhouse for nothing back then. Though his women played the most crucial role but without the habitual cautiousness he wouldn't have reached it in any way.

He had thus got rid of his six weaknesses as early as when he just got his subspace back. Being mind read was one of the true weaknesses his current self had and the meeting with Baron Auburn had proved how fatal it would have been if he never took precaution against it.

Forget about being approved by him, his true self as an abyss spawn was at high risk of being exposed. After the exposure he was bound to become a test subject for that guy's curiosity and later would probably be forced to either die a horrible death or live a life worse than death itself. The matter of the system would also be exposed after the eventual soul search. That would further make things miserable as core denizens might also get involved.

His life could have truly and utterly ended at that meeting if not for the countermeasure.

Even though it might have appeared how he had breezed through the situation, only he knew how he felt at that time. It was akin to looking at death in the eye and chatting with it “happily”. Anyone of his current body's age could never have done it as only someone like him who had experienced numerous life-or-death situations in his past life would be able to stay calm and composed at the jaws of death.

The alchemical ingredient Lush Husk he had tinkered with and used on himself before had proven its worth today. As a matter of fact the entire family would also appear as having the same somewhat positive thoughts like his since they were all subjected to that countermeasure.

It wouldn't garner any suspicion but instead prove the fact that he surrounded himself with those like-minded people. It was a situation similar to the saying, birds of a feather flock together.

Now with the grave crisis resolved and the second monthly evaluation concluded, he has to fully focus on the side mission of that reincarnator.

There was already a plan he had crafted for it and starting tomorrow it would begin taking effect.

So for the remaining time today, Nicole was the priority, who was trying to distance herself recently.

Nicole received the dinner invitation from her personal student.

Truthfully, she felt very complicated when he was near her. Thanks to being poached from her and the fact that he was now involved with a noble, the way she now had to interact with him became more complex and she somewhat felt frustrated because of it.

It seemed that her emotions these days had also been noticed by him.

During the call for the invitation he mentioned to her about an important matter he had to say to her today. She somewhat understood that it must involve the strange situation where both couldn't get along like earlier.

Thus she accepted the invitation and got ready for it when the time approached. Unlike the last time she was invited for lunch and had to skip the club hours, this dinner invitation was much more suitable for her schedule.

Nicole also wanted to clear up any awkward mood between them as what happened was just another small reminder how the player society was unfair to the likes of them.

The difference between a commoner and a noble was indeed such.

She got to his new place and used the teleportation circle available for convenience. She arrived at the floor where he had previously mentioned the celebratory dinner banquet would take place.

It was unsurprising that the entire Azure Sun party was also present. It seemed that the time they arrived was much earlier than the time he gave her for her invitation.

They were chatting, laughing and contently dining thus making the mood pleasant as well as harmonious throughout the banquet floor.

She was received by her personal student and Luna, the new one, also joined to receive her shortly after. With both of their introduction and student Marcus pitching in she did her greetings with the party members of Azure Sun who was a bit unfamiliar with her. Those from the club obviously knew of her but the two new members weren't the case.

His girlfriend Karla and the big sister Clara greeted her warmly before giving her some space as her personal student Blue told everyone how he had to talk about some important matters with her tonight.

“I met with the principal earlier. He approved of me working under the vice principal after graduation.”

“Oh? So today you received the final confirmation. Congratulations, student Blue.”

She replied calmly while inwardly she wondered in astonishment how even that Baron had appreciated him so much. There was a faint hope in her mind that the conservative principal would disapprove of the vice principal’s decision later but after hearing his words it seemed that both of them now finally drifted apart to a whole different spectrum of status.

This made her feel a bit empty inside as if she just lost something precious.

By now, it was no longer a mystery to her how she seemed to have developed some feelings for him. It was very shocking that she actually had such thoughts on a student so younger than her. She might appear in her mid twenties but a player’s true age was obviously deceptive.

As long as one kept leveling up in a stable pace the age would appear the same when they had first awakened, the age of eighteen. However on higher levels a player would encounter bottlenecks during their aura vein refinement so there would be times when the level would increase very slowly. Sometimes it would see no progress whatsoever until they had solved the bottlenecks completely.

During these times the real physical age starts catching up as the player keeps spending more and more of their extended lifespan with no sight of a breakthrough.

Such a situation was commonplace and the more a player seemed to have physically aged the worse their true potential had been exhausted. It also served as an indicator for other players to judge that person’s prospects.

That aside, Nicole wondered what her personal student really wanted to say as it seemed from his expressions that the news he broke to her wasn't the important matter he actually wanted to talk about.

So the conversation continued between the two.
