Chapter 106: Confirming Suspicion

Chapter 106: Confirming Suspicion

Blue woke up by experiencing Karla's headjob in the early morning.

It was the day before the exchange event and for the past few days they had gotten the time off from lessons. It was now replaced by the participants' own self-study in individual training and party training. This approach was taken by the academy to instill the notion that in the main part it was all up to their own performance and not expect from others to spoon-feed you every strategy and information about the opponents.

Even though Luna was staying in his place his bedroom was still occupied by Karla every night. It seems that this point was something those two girls had agreed on. That being said, Karla wasn't unreasonable so she would discreetly stay away from him for an hour or two at random times which was her way of making concessions.

He would then be visited by Luna as if she was already aware of when she would leave his side and after that either he chatted, kissed or got to unload on her. Even though her true self was slowly taking over but this didn't yet impede on the relationship they both now had. Because she had “told” him about her possible reincarnation she seemed to feel more at ease when in his presence.

That being said, it should be today when her entire memory fully unlocks and she becomes her past self as the core denizen Enshrouded Blade who was apparently renowned within the Core Area of the union. The system’s description on the time limit did indirectly mention this possibility. He was uncertain of her decision to continue their relationship after the full assimilation with her past memories as at present she was still half-baked in how someone of her past's caliber should conduct herself.

Blue could only maintain a calm facade for now but inwardly he was very anxious. His thoughts couldn't help but drift off to search for any oversight or clues left behind that was detrimental for him.

The day Luna moved into his place he had got Clara convinced to halt their illicit affair temporarily as he was very “conflicted” from all the changes happening in his life and needed time to adjust. She was, naturally, very caring of his “hardship” and gave him time to get used to all of this. It was obviously her who needed time and it just so happens that he took the initiative.

He had been very cautious not to leave behind any clues from his side about the affair in front of Luna's presence but unfortunately Clara was more of an honest girl and the way she looked at him was evident of the feelings she had for him. Karla might still be in the dark but he was certain that Luna, with her ever increasing astuteness honed through immeasurable time, had already guessed the matter and was just looking for the final evidence for confirmation.

So he had to do what needed to be done.

Luna was called to her lover's room in the afternoon.

They had just finished their training at noon, an hour ago. The training had all but concluded for the day so she wondered what he was calling for now. It was very rare to see him take the initiative to call her in his room when his entire family was in this cloud house living with him.

With curiosity she went to his room only to find a strange scene happening.

She saw Karla silently crying on the side while her sister Clara had kept her head down with intense guilt ridden in her face. Her lover seemed to be exceptionally calm thus drawing an odd picture but with her keen observation she had noticed the same kind of guilt in his eyes.

She entered the room and took a moment to analyze before commenting,

“Let me guess, these two were going behind our backs, weren't they?”

Her comment seemed to freeze the already depressing mood within the room. The trio looked at her with complex emotions. It seems that she had hit the mark.

Ever since she started living in his place the way Clara would behave in front Blue had made her extremely suspicious. It seemed that those two weren't just close as a family. She knew that back in Blue's original world Karla's family had adopted him and because of this reason they were close to each other but even this fact can't convince why Clara had the same look as the two of them who were in a relationship with him.

With her past memories unlocking rapidly and the fact that her thought process and observation had become more keen and astute she was now very confident of her conjectures. However, she couldn't just call them out when she didn't have a single evidence except her own suspicions so she had earlier decided to watch for any clues left behind by those two.

Now that she saw the present scene she instantly figured out the cause and effect of this entire situation. She didn't have to use fate element methods or anything but it was just a logical deduction.

“... You're right. It seems even you were aware of it.”

Karla replied in a bitter tone as it seemed that the fact that she was the only one in the dark had hit her hard emotionally.

“I was only suspicious, that's all. Blue and Clara, why don't you two explain yourselves?”

She asked the two of them in a somewhat angry tone. Though she may appear calm on the outside but inwardly she was very disappointed and angry at having proven her suspicion to be correct. She had already accepted Karla as she was there with him even before her.

As his lover she was also accepting of this fact but that being said, she was preferring honesty from him. Not this approach of sneaking behind their backs. Not to mention, Clara was still the big sister of his first lover, no?

Now that her mindset was akin to that of someone having lived for countless years she was more broad-minded and knew from past life memories that polygamy was commonplace within the nobility and even among the strong players' families most of the time.

It was for the simple reason that all strong and influential individuals wanted to leave behind more descendants to further increase the chances of prodigies or such to appear in their lineage. After all, player society wasn't especially favorable for a single individual who could sway all directions with influence.

Whether it be occupying resource points after a victorious conflict or just handling important matters that were out of their hands for the moment, the only one who could be truly trusted were the family members.

Betrayal and treachery was rampant and sometimes even among the family it wasn't a rare sight but there was a psychological satisfaction in the fact that whatever happened in a power struggle remained within the family instead of some outsider swooping in to claim their properties.

In summary, it was actually very rare to continue a monogamous relationship within the player society despite the “modernism” that had become commonplace within the union in this current epoch.

As she was expecting for her lover to finally explain it turned out that Karla still had more to say,

“Don't bother with them. It wasn't that I caught them in the act today. With these two's capabilities is that scenario even possible? Heh, they confessed voluntarily. That being said, all of it actually entails some… unpleasantness within the family so I would appreciate it if you don't ask about that.”

“Huh? So I don't deserve an explanation? Is that what you're trying to say?”

“No. I only want you to consider that point, that's all. Since these two had already said their pieces to me I will explain but excluding those parts.”

“... Sure.”

She agreed as she didn't want to be hard headed to keep pressing her to reveal all the details. It seemed that the fact that Blue and Clara were in an illicit relationship was not for some simple reason as guilty pleasure or something.

If it was truly this way then she would have been beyond disappointed in him. There might even be severe complications in their relationship in the future because of it.

As a reincarnator and also, shockingly, a core denizen, the man she had chosen in this life had to be as perfect as her ideals. Blue unsurprisingly fit all the marks and that's why she was satisfied with him even with all those past memories constantly changing her mindset everyday.

She had instinctively felt that her remaining memories would be unlocked tonight and all the crucial details still left behind in gaps would finally be settled once and for all. Before that she needed to focus on the current situation,

“An unpleasantness within the family? It seems that this family of four isn't all that open. I wonder what's the entire picture.”

Luna muttered inwardly as she listened to Karla's recounting of the present situation.
