Chapter 64: Level Up Grind Part 3

Chapter 64: Level Up Grind Part 3

Julie thought back about the conversation she had with that handsome Paladin.

It has been about two weeks since. The first year students should all be training hard, especially the combat class. She decided to check up on his progress.

She jingled a bell by her table and the door of her private office room opened as a figure promptly entered.

“Russell, get me the footage of student Blue in the simulation facility.”

“At once, your ladyship.”

He left with brisk pace before closing the door back.

She pondered what his level was now. Judging by his very high potential and his hardworking attitude she was certain that he had already reached the First Skill Unlocking stage.

“Either he is at level 5 or 6 at the moment.”

She estimated and soon after, the door opened again.

“Here's the footage data, your ladyship.”

Russell handed over a chip along with a thin stack of documents before exiting to return to his stand by position outside the door. She brought out her smartphone and scanned the chip. She then thought a bit exasperatedly,

“I can't even ask grandpa to give me the master access to the servers. Just what the hell were those eccentrics thinking to only put one set slot for it after making the facility?”

As she waited for the scan to be completed, she read the documents and couldn't help but nod with an appreciative smile. The documents contained the evaluation of Blue from teachers as well as many of his noteworthy activities observed by surveillance means within the academy. The contents from the documents could be surmised in one sentence.

An excellent individual appreciated by those who ever interacted with him.

This conclusion wasn't far-fetched in her opinion. She also felt that way when she had that meeting with him. She always considered herself as having near accurate judgment of others' character. Since she had already considered him as a young man with good bearings then it would instead shock her if the documents said otherwise.

The scan was completed so she put down the papers. Instead of his highlight videos throughout these two weeks, she first decided to satisfy her curiosity.

“As expected of a top prodigy. Level six for three days but had already shown signs of a breakthrough yesterday.”

Her estimation was mostly right. His potential was indeed worthy of being in the top three. She didn't have much concern about that point. At present, his level was tied with the first and second ranking but since he was close to another level up then he was bound to have a good lead. On top of that, the month still had half of it left so as long as he maintained the pace, getting the first place reward was more or less certain.

After watching the highlights of his performance in this two week she couldn't help but comment,

“I wonder what surprise he will show me when I take him there.”

She then began sorting out her fixed schedule for this month to make space for him. She still hadn't got to it yet as she preferred to see concrete results before investing in someone.

Though he was the most handsome man she had ever seen but from a noble's perspective, he still didn't reach the point to be treated as special from other top prodigies she came across in her life.

At best, he was very pleasant to the eye and had a good personality, that's all.

Blue exited the facility and asked the teacher about some advice in combat as well as some problems he noticed in his fighting style. He naturally was just leaving behind an impression since he could even teach that teacher if he showed his reach.

The teacher happily complied and answered all of his doubts. He then joined the other Paladins who wanted to discuss his performance after watching the highlight screen earlier. He kept socializing as he checked his Status Window skill that was modified to serve his purposes,

Except for the three attainments and the social information’s name and age part rest of it were actually untouched by him. He noticed that at every level the base stats would increase by six points with one point added at the previous numbers. He obviously knew that this wasn't fixed as by using many treasures, exotic herbs, pills, potions and whatnot the base stats could be influenced to favor some while ignoring the rest of it.

He was only going through continuous combat to keep refining his aether vein, or the so called gaining experience, thus his base stats followed a steady pattern.

Regardless, this provided a slight resistance to the river of time because of the increased amount of aether that circulated within the body passively. This slight resistance came in the form of increased lifespan as the body aged more slowly. So with increased levels came increased lifespan as the aether would flow better and better within the body from the aether vein that kept being refined again and again.

This was the feedback that kept the players striving to level up constantly but of course, the new students wouldn't know so much.

For these two weeks he wasn't only focusing on increasing his level. He had many things to do. Such as completing the side mission of Luna and the new side mission that generated when Clara's favorability point touched 60 threshold. Before this, her appraisal didn't make the system want to generate a side mission for her. A big surprise since she was also a child of the Blessed Womb physique's owner Laura.

From that, he figured out another fact about this system that there were instances when certain conditions needed to be fulfilled before it generated a mission for him. Like this time when her favorability reached the “interested” stage.

Except for those two there was also Nicole, his personal teacher. She was a good piece to further his plans in the academy as whether the noble status of Julie or her position as the vice principal both made it difficult for him to approach her so he could only keep up his acts as the top prodigy so she would still keep him in mind.

This passiveness would have vexed him if not for the fact that in his past life he dealt with women of more lofty status. It was all just a grind for the eventual conquest.

His relationship with Karla was stable as he kept using her from time to time to satisfy Laura's voyeurism. He was keenly aware that Laura held the key for his next main mission and those main missions subsequent results would bring him closer to the mystery behind the system.

And of course, the horse can't be ignored.

As his Premonition innate ability was triggered while it told him at that time that this fortuitous encounter was crucial for his new life then obviously he wouldn't be negligent towards it.

With all sorts of thoughts swirling in his mind he waited patiently outside the facility as he pretended to watch other Paladins highlight screen seriously. He took a look at [Host Stats] menu as he pondered about the new skill he unlocked after reaching the First Skill Unlocking stage,

The new skill he unlocked at level 5 was the healing skill that would unlock upon reaching the stage. His was called Hearty Meal. When he received its usage information from the aether he almost broke his calm facade. It could be seen from that that it was quite shocking even from his standard.

Anyways, his existence level of 0.48, which hadn't seen any increase since the time he got Karla's Pure Yin essence after taking her anal virginity, had already progressed to 0.53 after reaching class level 6. This showed that every increase in class level increased the existence level by 0.1 but if this pattern was fixed or not remained to be seen.

“What an irony. I got the healing skill of a player class before I managed to unlock the healing ability of my bloodline. Sigh… it can't be helped. Where would I get a pond of blood to bathe for a hundred days in the middle of this peaceful academy? Some things that were considered totally normal back at Abyss are now absolutely absurd. I can only put it on hold for now.”

He lamented inwardly at the conditions for unlocking the most basic healing ability of his bloodline. There were also some other abilities he needed to unlock urgently so he could better fish for benefits and not miss out on certain opportunities. These prioritized abilities were crucial to cover for some means he currently lacked without resorting to his subspace.

In his opinion, the less he used the consumable items and equipment from there the better it was for his future as any decrease in it was permanent since he had no way to get those from Abyss's environment or other empires he plundered from. The time it would take for him to have such mobility was too far in the future and his present timeline was brutal enough to cost his life in a single slip.

Luna's case was the glaring reminder.

Unfortunately, those prioritized abilities were also as absurd to unlock as that healing ability so he could only keep his frustrations to himself.

“When your luck is down everything seems bleak.”

He muttered inwardly as he used his chance to train again inside the facility after everyone had their turn.
