Chapter 50 - Prophet spoke

Chapter 50 - Prophet spoke

Kyrain and Nyx watched as the giant of a man they knew as Josh Dusen, squeezed the woman's head off and a hole got blasted in the man.

Once the dust settled they started making their way out to them when Josh went flying and a loud boom echoed across the field. Kyrain and Nyx dove for cover and a few more shots rang out that were deflected by his Uncle as Amy ran to her husband who was knocked into a building. Nyx and Kyrain began moving to the location of the shots, leaving the battle field behind and sticking to the shadows.

They could hear the blasts of a massive rifle going off again and again from above them. They could feel the concussion from every shot through their bodies, even through Kyrain's antimatter body that reduced it as it drained the energy away. They moved the side entrance and entered seeing a stairwell that went up.

Kyrain took a single step ahead of Nyx when he felt his foot sink a small amount on a rug.

*Boom!*

The entire stairwell filled with fire and then froze. Purple aether rippled around the fire ball and began to cause it to shrink as the time of the fire ball and all contained in it was reversed. Nyx kept funneling massive amounts of aether into her skill as blood poured from her nose until the fire ball was reversed and she could see the slightly elevated rug and the crush wire beneath it, but to her confusion, Kyrain was gone.

- Kyrain -

*thud!*

Kyrain felt a sharp not painful impact to his side.

Someone was speaking in an unknown language that he couldn't remotely recognize.

Kyrain was suprised to be alive considering the explosion. He tried to ramp his nullification field up as hard as he could on instinct, but it wasn't quick enough. He couldn't smell burning or anything, nor was he injured. It was warm and he was outside. He opened his eyes and looked up at a bearded man wearing what looked like a very scratchy brown garment that looked almost like extremely scratchy wool, but it didn't seem to bother the middle aged man.

"I'm sorry, I don't understand you" Kyrain said as he slowly got to his feet and began to check his weapons.

After a moment and a deep breath, the man spoke again. Slow at first then got faster and faster.

"I told you to wake up. You shouldn't be just lounging around when you have work to do." He said as he walked off.

"Wait what? What work?" Kyrain said getting up and rushing off after him.

"We have a little time before he comes to us. You're to stay out of sight til he asks. Can you take off the mask?" The man said then asked.

"I don't follow, what are you talking about? Who even are you? And where am I?" Kyrain asked completely confused by everything that happened.

"The king is coming to beg of us for help. I am Elisha and you are in Israel." Elisha said as Kyrains eyebrows went up.

"Huh? Next your going to tell me that the king is Jehoahaz and he is fighting Syria." Kyrain said with a laugh then stopped after a few seconds when Elisha just looked at him.

"Ah! So you already know. That makes things easier." Elisha said.

Kyrain froze and stopped walking as Elisha kept walking. After a brief pause he caught back up.

"Elisha....like prophet Elisha. Successor of Elijah?" Ky asked.

"Have we met?" Elisha ask with an amused tone.

"Tongues. That's how you're speaking my language." Kyrain said taking his mask off still flabbergasted.

Kyrain went to pull up his HUD bit then stopped.

Nothing happened. He tried to access his sense or any of his skills, but nothing happened. Kyrain jumped as high as he could and still was able to jump super human heights, but no access to his antimatter.

He stopped and looked around seeing Elisha had stopped and was looking at him then he turned and looked to the sky saying something in what Kyrain thought was either Hebrew or Arimaic.

Kyrain caught back up. "Question." Kyrain said waiting for Elisha to respond.

Elisha frowned a second then asked.

"What is the first and greatest of the commandments?" He asked.

It was Kyrain's turn to frown. "Random. It's love God and only God. Why did you bring that up?" Kyrain asked.

"You said question. I assume you wanted me to ask a question. You're the random one." Elisha said.

Kyrain snorted air out his nose in a sort of laugh and shook his head.

"No, I had a question for you." Kyrain said.

"Oh. Then you should have just said that."

Kyrain smirked.

"I'm a little rusty in my bible studies, but if memory serves this when Israel is dealing with Syria and this is the savior time when Jehoahaz stops worshipping his cow idol long enough to ask God for help. Is that who is coming?." Kyrain asked.

Elisha stopped and laughed.

"I'm supposed to be the prophet, but here you are telling of things to come." He said.

"No...where and when I'm from, we read about you and the events that took place. You have been dead almost 3000 years when I was born." Kyrain said in response.

Elisha turned.

"The Messiah. Are we still waiting for the promised Messiah?!" Elisha turned with hopeful eyes.

"Jesus? Yeah. He comes somewhere near 800 years after you." Kyrain said

Elisha frowned confused.

"I didn't understand you." Elisha said.

"Jesus is born in Bethlehem and is raised in Nazareth. He is the Messiah." Kyrain said, but slowly.

Elisha's frown deepened then his face relaxed and he breathed out.

"I guess not yet." Elisha said as he opened the door to a house among a few built next to a really muddy, nasty looking river.

"Is this the Jordan river?" Kyrain asked as he went in.

Elisha turned back. "Yes."

A younger man greeted Elisha then stopped short when he saw Kyrain in his modern clothing and weapons.

Elisha began speaking and pointed to Kyrain. The man disappeared then returned shortly with a clay cup and a purple liquid inside.

Kyrain took the cup and bowed his head sligbtly in thanks which he figured was the universal sign of thanks. He got a smile out of it, so he guessed he was right.

*thud!*thud!*thud!*

Knocking came at the door just as Kyrain took a drink of what he realized was a grape wine that was actually incredibly good.

Elisha motioned Kyrain to head back and away. He disappeared into the side room through a gesture of the younger man.

Kyrain sat on the floor and leaned up against the wall and listened to the conversation in the other room and sipping his drink.

He didn't understand a word, but there was a lot of excitement followed by sobbing, and then more excitement and a repeated phrase again and again which he assumed was a thanks, but he didn't actually know.

The door opened and after a few more minutes of conversation the door closed again and the house when silent.

The younger man came back and motioned Kyrain to join them.

"Yes, you will be our savior." Elisha said with a smile.

"Wait what?!" Kyrain asked with suprise. I know what happens Elisha! 2 Kings tells us what this "savior" does. I would like to get back to my time and my home." Kyrain argued back.

Elisha got a confused look.

"You do not understand what I am doing now, but one day you will." He said slowly as if it was being said to him and he was repeating it.

Kyrain's eyes went wide and he looked up then nodded.

"I was always told me that I should never be a Moses." Kyrain said.

Elisha looked at him with a confused and semi shocked look.

"Why not?"

"Moses argued with God for like a week straight before he went back to Egypt." Kyrain answered before adding one more declaration.

"I'll help."

Elisha started laughing loudly.
