The door opened with a screech causing Kyrain to cringe as he held his nullification field up over the entrance in case anything lashed out at him.
As soon as the door was open, He dove into the ground using his portal behind Eclipse then waited for the explosive report of the massive rifle, but nothing. Finally, some swearing as she began to break down the rifle. "Nothing! I really wanted to splatter a thrall with this. It was a birthday present from dad, and I've been itching to use it.
"Ma'am!" Kyrain quickly said pointing as there was some movement from the container. She swore again and retightened down the barrel and went back into the prone.
Kyrain opened a rift above the container so he could get a closer look at the creature. It was indeed a thrall just like he and Nyx saw at the morgue. To his surprise, he was shoved backwards, and a shot rang out deafening him save for an extremely loud ringing. He turned and saw Eclipse pointing her rifle into the portal with smoke leaving the gun. To add to his surprise, she began dancing in place and talking at him, which he could barely hear from the gun.
Eventually the ringing ended, and he could hear her. "Can you hear me?!"
He nodded, getting back up. "Yes ma'am, I can hear you now." He replied.
He could see from her body language, she was extremely happy. "
"I need you to open more portals to me for better shots now! That was so awesome. I made a little noise, so the ugly sucker looked up at the gun and bam! It went everywhere!" She said with so much excitement in her voice.
She stopped her impromptu dancing as she caught some movement by the container. She dropped to the prone as fast as she could and sighted in. Kyrain plugged his ears just in time before more rounds began to go off. Thinking back to his room, He opened a rift to where his sword and shield were. He opened a second rift directly under them and next to him causing them to fall to his side.
Eclipse continued shooting as Kyrain put his back to the gun and tore his shirt. Taking the cotton, he plugged his ears then grabbed his sword and shield. He took up a defensive position behind Eclipse as he saw a veritable swarm of thralls pour out of the container.
"They must have been under the ground in a next of sorts!" Eclipse yelled back at him as she continued to fire.
"I'm almost out of this mag! Grab me another!" She commanded as Kyrain did as instructed. He pulled four more magazines from the case, fully loaded and set them beside her. She fired another shot, and the bolt locked to the rear. She depressed the mag release button causing it fall out. Tilting the gun to the side she slammed the magazine home and pressed the bolt release as it chambered another round.
Kyrain watched the reload as it took barely a second with her heightened speed, dexterity, and reflexes. He then saw in his aether sense that many had begun to climb up the containers they were perched on. "Keep shooting, I'll take care of these so you can do your job!" Kyrain said as he took up a position again. With a nod, Eclipse began shooting again killing multiple in a single shot, but the thralls just didn't end.

The first thrall finally reached the top of the container where Kyrain with a blade coated with this nullification skill swung down and sheered the top of his skull off before moving to the other side to deal with another. He moved faster and faster, as more thrall got passed Eclipse. The ground was coated in dark red almost black blood and body parts. Kyrain was essentially a buzz saw with his sword and shield. Those he could cut, he shield bashed from the top.
"I'm out of ammo!" Eclipse said as she pulled two massive knives from the outside of her boots and dropped into shadows. What took place next was a fury of unseen strikes to thrall that never even saw it coming. The shadows began to move on their own and strike as if they were corporeal. Limbs began to fly then beams of pale white light began to flash more thralls were blasted to pieces.
Kyrain fell into a rhythm of action and reaction. He would cut one down, spin to slash another, block a claw on his shield, then reset. Luckily for him the vast majority of these thrall were under D rank for monsters, and they died quickly and easily especially with his nullification on.
There was a boom and another container's door was blown wide open as more thralls began pouring out. More beams of light flashed out killing multiple at once, but Kyrain could see Eclipse becoming overwhelmed and the bodies began to choke out her ability to use skills.
He expanded his nullification field targeting each thrall searching for their cores, as soon as they entered his range, he started crushing them. They staggard for but a moment, then slowly began to slowly get back up. Some would stay down, but most slowly got back up to fight again.
They were not true beasts, but former people so some could survive. He continued to slash and crush cores which did slow the tide as Eclipse flashed up beside him as she tried to jump to his shadow, but his nullification was running too powerfully.
"We need to back out! There are far too many!" She said stabbing with her knives and a few shadows as she too was hindered by Kyrain's nullification and had to exert serious aether to push through and that was burning her out.
Kyrain went to open a portal then thought a second.
"What time is it right now in Egypt?" He asked.
"What?! Why the heck does that matter?! Eclipse shouted.
"Is the sun up?!" He asked again.
"Yes! Why?" She asked again.
Pouring every ounce of antimatter Kyrain had into it, he raised his hands, and he tore open the biggest rift he had ever opened in his life and sunlight poured through. Immediately, his mind began to pound and blood flowed from his nose, yet he held the rift open.
Immediately the thrall below began to smoke and burn. The screeching was worse than magnified nails on a chalkboard and didn't end. They started catching fire and burning.
Eclipse staggard back and fell to a knee unable to move which caught Kyrain's attention, but he kept his rift open as wide as he could, until the only thing he could hear was the popping and crinkling of burning bodies.
With a slump he lowered his hands and sat on the ground next to where Eclipse now collapsed to the ground as another shock hit her.
