"Hey Nyx?" Kyrain asked as he came through the back door feeling like ice had built up inside, but he pushed through.
She looked over to her left at him, sleeves rolled up as she washed a dish.
"Hmm?"
"I was wondering if you wanted to check out this cool place my mom once took me? The weather is going to be great there and the view even better." He said scratching the back of his head and feeling his ears begin to burn.
He could literally feel his heart hammer heavily as he continued to fight back his anxiety that threatened to clog up his throat and stop him from speaking.
"Sure." She said with a smile setting the last plate down and dried her hands.
"Let me change really quick and I'll meet you in the living room."
Kyrain just nodded and smiled nervously as she seemed to flit down the hallway. Kyrain went into the living room and sat down next to his mother who was watching him with a knowing look.
"I'll be here when you guys get back good or bad." She whispered.
Really quick, turned into a full hour as Kyrain became really nervous and impatient. Until finally Nyx came out from the hall in a sleeveless blue and white floral dress that stopped at her ankles. The petals were all mostly at the bottom of the dress and by the time it reached her neck it was white. Her shoulders were covered with a light shawl. She wore light colored, silver wedges. Her hair, half curled and her bangs done in a way where it almost covered her right eye with her silver hair, and that's when Ky saw the deep blue sapphire eyes watching him and the smirk on her ruby lips as he realized he was starring.
"Nyx...you...you..." Kyrain tried to say rolling his hand.
"Are you usually this articulate?" She asked with a smile that reached her eyes showing her brilliant teeth and laughed lightly, causing Kyrain to do the same breaking the ice allowing the man to move and breathe.
"Ready?" Nyx asked.
Kyrain shook himself out of it.
"No. One sec." He tore open a rift and vanished leaving Brittanie and Nyx dumbstruck looking at eachother in confusion.
After a few minutes Kyrain opened the door this time in nice black slacks, a dark grey shirt, black belt, and nice brown shoes causing both Brittanie and Nyx to laugh hysterically.
You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.
"Yeah...yeah...you ready Nyx?" He said looking down smiling and then gestured outside.
Nyx walked over and headed out the door looking quickly back and Brittanie for some reason lost to Kyrain, then he followed looking back as well as his mother gave him a thumbs up.
He closed the door and caught up to Nyx who laced her arm through his left arm in a proper lady escort position. Kyrain opened a rift to a small field surrounded by trees and they stepped through.
As soon as Nyx stepped through she looked around in the evening light and saw a large white house to their right as they stood on a cement path.
"Where are we?" She asked.
"It's a suprise." Kyrain said with a smile and gently pulled her along the path toward the end of the trees where the path went down and she could hear a roaring in the distance and some building.
They walked slowly just looking around, seeing other people on different paths looking at the same sunset they were. As they crested the small flat they were on and looked down, Nyx nearly gasped.
She saw a white lighthouse at the edge of a clift and the ocean as far as she could see. They began to walk down and Nyx couldn't help herself, but look all around. She looked up at Kyrain who was smiling slightly, but she could tell that he was nervous and tense. She had an idea of why, as Brittanie pushed her plan forward. She was nervous and afraid as she had no idea how this was supposed to go as she had only read about this stuff in books when she was a little girl and so far, it was becoming her own little fairy tale.
They reached the lighthouse and they walked toward the railing where Nyx let go of his arm and looked out over the water completely awestruck.
Kyrain was just as awestruck as he looked at Nyx in the light of the sunset seeing it light up her silver hair that was being blown in the wind revealing strange earrings that covered her outer ears and made them look half done in silver and purple. Her dress and shawl lightly blowing behind her as the water slammed into the cliff below.
Nyx then looked over and Kyrain and smiled.
He was worried and felt a cold sort of tingling electric running through him. It was almost like he was in a daze and someone else was at the controls as he saw his arm extend and his hand reach for hers.
She looked down as his hand took hers and she turned. Kyrain didn't know it, but her heart was beating as quickly as his and she was equally as nervous as he was.
"Nyx, I want you to stay with me. Not just for work, but because I love your company. You make me smile every time I'm with you. The last few days without you have been too quiet and miserable. I think you are the most beautiful woman I've ever met both on the surface and as a person. I can count on one hand the amount of people I trust as much as I trust you..... Can I be more to you than just someone you work with?" Kyrain said his voice shaking as he was still on autopilot.
Nyx could hardly breathe let alone speak as she listened to the man she had fought side by side with the last six months and whose family she had come to love, poured his emotions out to her.
She wasn't reacting and she could see it was making Kyrain more and more uneasy. She couldn't speak yet, but she took his hand with her other and stepped forward to him and looked up at him with a smile she felt all the way to her core.
Kyrain stared at her as he felt his unease begin to melt. He stepped in toward her, leaned down, and he felt his lips touch hers.
