Sorin was furious. That piece of shit had done serious damage to Linx for no good reason. He was innocent in their game of politics.
Linx lay in his bed. The healer had done what they could. They reset and mended the bones and began the healing process, but the tendons and ligaments needed to heal and they didn't really have a solid understanding of anatomy in that way like in his world.
Sorin had an idea, but it had a big risk. He had been playing his cards close to his chest, he needed to try. Failure at this point would set his plans back and he didn't need that.
He closed his eyes and reach out with his senses looking at Linx he could see his flesh was not fully infused in the tier 2, but was getting closer with the standard training. He pushed his vision in closer and worked to looking his flesh. There was a repelling effect and a strong one at that.
He knew this to be the NAF or Natural Aether Field everyone has thar serves as a safeguard against your standard energies through the world however he knew he could push passed it as you do for damage dealing effects. With a force of will Sorin slammed his vision forward and it worked.
*bleep*
He was now looking at Linx's bodily structure and the damage wasn't as bad as he figured but still was going to take time to heal. His leg where he took the first shot wouldn't heal quickly at all with the amount of damage to the muscle, tendons, and ligaments.
Sorin didn't know if he could, but tried to push a tendril of his aether into Linx through his fire sense path. It took the same effort of will as his sense needed but once in, it was free. He began swapping out the damaged motes with fresh ones. The damaged ones he pushed into the blood to get moved away from the body and filtered out naturally. He continued swapping them out just like he did when he obtained his regeneration ability.
*bleep*
He worked for who knows how long replacing the damaged cells and molecules with fresh energy. Before he knew it he had replaced all the internal damage he could find. He drew back and let his sense go letting out a breath.
"What did you do?" Sorin stiffened and turned to the voice. Reeger stood in the room watching him.
"I did nothing." Sorin replied.
"Do not lie to me. The bruising is gone. There was a flow of aether going from you to him and a lot of it. Way more than should be in the core of a tier 2." The older man said.
"Each of us have secrets Arms Master. Will you rob me of mine?" Sorin asked.
"Some things need to be kept and other things can not be kept. They will ask questions when he is up and moving."
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
"I know. Will you keep what you saw to yourself then?" Sorin asked
"Under one condition." Reeger said. "Should Lady Euryale need healing. You will not hesitate to use that on her regardless of how much you wish to keep it hidden."
"I can agree to that." Sorin agreed.
"She is a good person. Which is rare for a noble woman. They are usually spoiled and vile. She must live up to the hard expectations of her house." Reeger explained.
"You have known her for long?"
"Yes. I am one who essentially raised her. I see her as one would their own daughter. She is a gentle heart trying to figure out a cruel world. What happened tonight cannot go unanswered. That man has been chasing her since he met her." Reeger said.
"It won't go unanswered. A price will he paid in due time. Once that moment presents itself you will see the bill come due." Sorin replied in his fury.
"I believe you about her. From the first day I had suspicions about her when she was so open about the philosophy I pushed her way. She is like almost every lieutenant from my world I have ever met. With the proper nurturing, she could grow into a very powerful benevolent leader."
Reeger nodded. "You're definitely not what I expected you to be. You notice her, but do not hunger after her as other men and even women do."
"No, I have a wife and son I am working to return to. I have no time or desire for young girls who are meant for another." Sorin said getting up.
"I am invested in her though. Her success moves up my time line to go home and if I can do some good in the passing, I will."
Sorin gave the arms master a nod and walked over to his bed and threw himself into it opening up his notifications.
Congratulations
Skill upgraded:
Fire sense(p/a) ----> Greater Fire Sense(p/a) - Your sense of the aether of fire has grown so powerful you can see further and deeper into the fabric of reality. You can easily bypass other NAF provided you are of same tier or higher than your target. Skill can pierce lesser graded stealth and cloaking.
Congratulations
You have obtained skill:
From the ashes(a) - Using fire you mend even the most severe injuries of another. Cannot mend mental or spiritual wounds.
Sorin closed the notifications and smiled a bit. Another tool in his arsenal and upgraded. With those two skills he increased the survivability of his team and increased his chances of winning this exam thing.
He just needs to keep things under wraps. The less people who know he can heal the better. His enemies know a lot if not all his attack skills. They do not need to know that he can do this. They would target him even harder.
Sorin heard the door open and steps enter.
After a moment he heard the voice of Euryale speaking to Reeger. Then she stopped.
"I could have sworn he had severe bruising Reeger."
"I thought so too. However I came back in here and noticed it seemed to have cleared up. The healers they sent must have been more powerful than they thought." Reeger said.
"Reeger! Do you think he will be fully healed?! Her voice came with a higher pitch with the sound of hope in it.
"There is only one way to find out my lady. We just wait for him to wake." He said.
"You're absolutely correct. Send for me when he does wake." She commanded as she headed out.
Sorin rolled over and smiled. The old man was a man of his word. He would take it.
