27 – (Season 1) Junkman Rick
After the duel ended, both Jim and Rick returned back to the library of time. Rick laughed out loud and wrapped his arm around Jim. Visitors rarely ever stumble upon the library of time and when they do, they weren’t as impressive as Jim.
Rick sneered “Where did you learn all of those techniques. I thought monks were peaceful beings. I’ve never been slapped by a monk before.”
Rick brought out snacks and led Jim to an empty table nearby. As Rick munched on seaweed, Jim ate some of the crackers. Jim was the first to break the snacking silence, he asked about his lance. How could a lance come out of a lance. After Rick finished his snack, he summoned his lance.
Rick yelled “You can come out now”
The staff transformed into an ape. Rick introduced Toby to Jim. When Rick was a regular player before becoming the floor owner for the first floor, Rick had a chance to enter a holy land of the apes. Rick disclosed that if you have a chance to enter one of the 12 zodiac holy lands, you should spend as much time as you can. Not only was Rick able to surpass the giant wall of tier 6, it helped him advance to tier 8.
Rick replied “Try your best to befriend the elders”
That was all the help Rick provided. Toby on the other hand was also happy that he has another person to talk to other than Rick. Toby inquired about his mana blade. He was intrigued by Jim’s manipulation of the mana blade.
Toby inquired “That mana blade is not something that was learned through skill books. Did you create your own mana blade?”
Jim was impressed by Toby’s analysis skills. He deduced correctly that it was something he created by himself. Jim also mentioned the difficulties to create a sword projectile attack. Toby was not surprised as he is trying to learn a sword wave attack when he is barely tier 1. At a minimum, the system skill book requires the player to be at least tier 3. Mana levels and mana manipulation are both required to use sword wave. Toby could have just told Jim what the solution is, but that would create shortcomings in the future for his growth. However, since Toby liked Jim, he gave him a hint. As Jim is proficient in using the mana clones he said “How do you look left and right at the same time”.

Jim thought about what he said. He tried moving his left eye to the left while moving the right eye to the right. Both Rick and Toby started laughing as JIm looked ridiculous. They both mentioned that he shouldn’t take their advice literally but think about his class. Jim kept thinking about their advice but came in short. Since Rick enjoyed Jim’s company he said he will help him train. Jim asked how much time he can spend here. Rick replied that time flows much slower in the library. 10 hours in the library equals 1 hour. So far, Jim has spend only 2 hours in the library from.
Both fighters entered the duel arena. This time both Rick and Toby stood left and right of Jim. They both charged and swung a wooden staff. Jim summoned a clone to block his left while Jim blocked the right side. Jim had an inspirational moment. Toby and Rick noticed his deep train of thought and left the arena.
The first floor owner has met a few geniuses in his role as floor manager but this was the first time that he thought of the word monster. He felt that Jim would rise past him and all the way to the 9th floor of the library.
Jim spent 3 hours sitting down contemplating about his dilemma. In order to use create a sword wave he needed two things. He needed mana to rotate in one direction and he needed a medium to push wave towards the target. He thought if he coated the mana in water, he could create a sword wave. He was close but the answer was eluding him. The mana needs weight in order to push through and create enough friction to slice the enemy. He thought about e=mc squared. Energy is not created but transferred. If he cannot imbue weight into his mana he just needs more speed. He grabbed a small kunai and imbued it with mana. He threw the kunai at a wooden dummy. The kunai only left a small cut not worth mentioning. He changed his approach and instead of moving the mana in one direction and he moved the mana back and forth creating a small humming noise. He increased the frequency of the mana to increase the penetrating power instead of slicing power. He threw this at the dummy and the kunai penetrated the wooden dummy halfway before being stuck. Next he attached a small bubble at the end of the kunai. Jim threw the kunai again with a mana string attached to it. Right before the kunai reached within 1 feet, he activated the air bubble at the end of the kunai send a twitch of friction igniting the air bubble. This time the kunai penetrated the wooden dummy, but the accuracy was off a little bit. Jim experimented with the shape of the bubble. He created a bubble wrapping the end of the kunai allowing the explosive force of the bubble to move in one direction. This took the pretty much of all of the remaining time in the library.
Jim went to Rick and Toby to thank them for his advice. Rick enjoyed watching Jim progress. He handed over common weapons which were better than the marketplace. Additionally, he gave him a ring called calamity ring. Jim thanked Rick for all of his help and hoped to see him again. Rick had a good feeling that he will see him again in the future. Jim exited the library of time and logged off to rest.
